Múzeum šľachtických kočiarov a saní
Transport yourself to times past thanks to the Múzeum šľachtických kočiarov a saní in Oravský Podzámok. This museum is unique among Slovak museums thanks to the most extensive collection of carriages we have ever had here.
It began writing its history on the day of its opening, namely May 2008. Its opening hours are listed directly on the website. The museum itself will catch your attention mainly because of 21 exclusive exhibits in their original, but above all, renovated state. When we look into history, we find that the first transport wagons already appeared in Ancient Egypt or perhaps also in Asia. Immerse yourself in the period when luxury Landauers and Landaulets, stylish Mylords for gentlemen, and Victorias for ladies dashed along our roads. In the collection, you can also find urban Coupés, carriages for hunters, or winter sleighs.
Your fantasy and imagination will be working at full blast. Every single detail on the "bodywork", beautiful upholstery, or other gadgets of that era will thrill you. Not only carriages whose bodywork is separated from the chassis, but also wagons with a connection directly to the chassis. You will learn about all the possibilities of the present day as well as interesting information through information boards.
The overall experience of this museum below Oravský hrad is complemented by figures in period costumes. The cherry on top of the entire exhibition is the exclusive funeral carriage for nobles with dimensions of 5 meters in length and 3 in width. It is worth seeing with your own eyes.
Should you come as a group with more than 20 people, you can arrange an individual tour of the museum. Afterward, you can head directly to the village together, where you can see Stredoveká dedina sokoliarov or the popular Oravský hrad. After such a demanding day, book accommodation near the Múzeum šľachtických kočiarov a saní. Your choice can be rooms in Oravský Podzámok guest houses as well as cottages. Just set off on your wonderful sightseeing holiday in Slovakia.
