Bachledka Ski & Sun

Ždiar

Vysoké Tatry, Nízke Tatry, Západné Tatry. Are you missing one? Yes, it is the Belianske Tatry. With them before your eyes, you will experience an unforgettable skiing trip, mainly because it is one of the most beautiful mountain ranges of all.

To enjoy all this beauty with your own eyes, you must head to Ždiar. You will find this picturesque village between Poprad and the border between Poland and Slovakia. Specifically, it is Ski Bachledova dolina - Jezersko. The ski resort stretches across the southern and northern slopes of the Spišská Magura.

Spišská Magura forms a mountain ridge that stretches above the entire village of Ždiar and offers a true skiing paradise. In Ždiar Bachledova dolina - Jezersko, you will find a number of slopes of all difficulty levels. Most of the slopes, more than half, are blue, the least demanding. Therefore, Ždiar is extremely friendly to families with children and complete beginners.

However, even more advanced skiers will not be bored. Intermediate and the most demanding slopes are situated towards Jezersko. This ensures a natural separation of beginner skiers and the better ones. For this reason, no one will be delayed or get in anyone's way anywhere. Beginners are mainly in Bachledova dolina, the more advanced ones in Jezersko.

The entire ski resort is located at an altitude of 820 – 1,160 meters above sea level. It should also be taken into account that there is much more snow in Ždiar than in the entire surrounding area. Nevertheless, the resort is equipped with an artificial snowmaking system, thanks to which the ski season is truly quite long.

In the resort, you will find 5 lifts and 2 chairlifts, with the total length of the slopes being almost 11 km. The longest ski track in the resort is marked in blue, and its length is an impressive 1,950 meters.

Ždiar and, above all, the Spišská Magura mountain range are famous for excellent conditions for cross-country skiing. This is proven by the presence of up to 19 km of cross-country ski tracks. The Bachledova dolina - Jezersko resort also offers other possibilities for activities. You can rent skis here or try it with a snowboard. Motor enthusiasts will not miss a ride on a powerful snowmobile. Snowtubing, a ride on inflatable tires down the slope, is also an experience. You can eat in a stylish restaurant, fast food is offered by buffets, and you will warm up in a bar.

To be in Ždiar means to get to know the traditions of the region. It is one of the most distinctive villages with typical architecture and customs. If you have not had enough of nature, you can go skiing in the evening, or try another form of darkness, the one underground. Not far from Ždiar lies the famous Belianska jaskyňa cave.

The Ski Bachledova dolina – Jezersko ski resort is an extremely visited resort and attracts thousands of skiers from a wide area. A varied offer of accommodation options is available for them here, from luxurious wellness guesthouses, through family ones, modern apartments, to tourist hostels. An excellent way to spend a winter holiday is also renting a separate cottage. A crackling fire in the fireplace after a day full of skiing is something truly magical. Come and experience it in Ždiar.

Zelené pleso

Zelené pleso

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Zelené pleso is one of the most romantic tarns in the Vysoké Tatry mountains. This glacial lake, lying at an altitude of 1551 m a.s.l., was named thanks to the springs that well up at its bottom and cause green spots. However, a more interesting variation is the ancient legend according to which a dazzling green gemstone fell into it from Jastrabej veže tower.

If you were looking on a map, point your finger to the eastern part of the Vysoké Tatry, to the Doliny Bielej vody kežmarskej valley, or the Doliny Zeleného plesa valley. Thanks to a maximum depth of 4.5 m, you can see all the way to the bottom of this moraine tarn from near the shore. With an area of 1.78 ha, it does not belong among the largest tarns, but it is definitely one of the most beautiful.

This turquoise-colored tarn is a popular destination not only for experienced hikers, skiers, and cyclists but also for families with older children or active seniors. Even so, good physical fitness is recommended, as the hike with an elevation gain of 855 meters along the yellow tourist trail is only moderately difficult, yet relatively lengthy. However, if that is not enough for you, the natural continuation of the route is the ascent to Jahňací štít peak or continuing to Skalnaté pleso.

The dominant feature of the view is the well-known "Brnčalka", as the Chata pri Zelenom plese mountain hut is called, which, thanks to its ochre facade, cannot be confused with any other. The history of the first shelter on the site of the current hut dates back to the end of the 1890s. It is open year-round, and if you are planning a challenging hike to the surrounding peaks, it is a suitable place for an overnight stay. Otherwise, do you know about its unusual phenomenon, which is more known from Nordic countries? In the period from October to March, not a single ray of sun touches it. Despite this, it is very popular even during this period.

The starting points for the hike to Zelenému plesu are Tatranské Matliare, the Biela Voda bus stop, or Tatranská Lomnica. For a perfect hiking experience, good planning is necessary, especially if you are traveling with children. So that you are not under time pressure to return home before dark, we recommend booking accommodation nearby in advance. You can find the best offers for accommodation near Zeleného plesa, as well as accommodation Tatranské Matliare or accommodation Tatranská Lomnica, directly on our website.
