Vysoké Tatry mesto

Vysoké Tatry. A name that is a concept and a guarantee of a perfect holiday not only in Slovakia but also in the surrounding region. It does not matter whether it is summer or winter. Beautiful views and top-class services at a European level are the main attractions of the smallest high-mountain range in the world. Visit one of the most famous parts of the Vysoké Tatry, Tatranská Lomnica.

The tourist resort with a long history still attracts many visitors today. You will find it a few kilometers north of the town of Poprad, which is the gateway to the Vysoké Tatry. Tatranská Lomnica spreads out directly below the well-known Lomnický štít peak. If looking at it from below is not enough for you, there is nothing easier. A cable car runs from Tatranská Lomnica up to an altitude of 2,632 meters above sea level.

The ski resort in Tatranská Lomnica is our highest-altitude resort, and you will find one of the steepest slopes in Slovakia here. The slopes are spread out at altitudes ranging from 888 to 2,196 meters above sea level. This represents a vertical drop of approximately 1,300 meters, which is more than enough. However, the best thing about the resort is that everyone will find their own slope here.

The ski resort is very clearly divided. In its lower part, you will find blue slopes intended for beginners. The middle part, called Generál, is intended for intermediate skiers. The upper part is dedicated to the best and most experienced skiers; you will find the steepest slope of the resort here in Lomnické sedlo pass. This slope is constantly groomed, but if you prefer and want to enjoy free terrain, the part of the resort called Francúzska mulda is intended for you.

The resort has been significantly renovated; new slopes as well as cable cars have been added. Its pride is the new 15-seater cable car, the same as the one you will find in the Jasná ski resort. You will certainly not be bored in the resort; almost 12 km of slopes for everyone are waiting for you. 7 cable cars will be at your service.

Tatranská Lomnica is a modern resort with a diverse range of quality services. Ski schools for everyone, the option to rent the most modern skis, or taste the best specialties for miles around. What could be better than enjoying great food with all of Slovakia at your feet?

Vysoké Tatry strive to be one of the most prestigious ski resorts in our country. And they are succeeding. Tatranská Lomnica has long, groomed slopes, and the longest one in particular will challenge everyone. It is also the longest slope in Slovakia, measuring an incredible 6.5 km. A length that most of our ski resorts can only dream of.

Tatranská Lomnica, as it is one of the most famous resorts in Slovakia, has absolutely no problem with finding accommodation in its vicinity. The area is known for luxury hotels, fairy-tale-like guesthouses, and apartments. There are also options for truly cheap accommodation in private lodgings, private cabins, wooden cottages, or cheaper tourist hostels. Belianska jaskyňa

Belianska jaskyňa

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Underground worlds have fascinated people since time immemorial. Caves provided shelter, and today they are sought-after tourist attractions. If you are planning a holiday to Vysoké Tatry or to Zamagurie, pay close attention. You should not miss a visit to Belianska jaskyňa under any circumstances.

Belianska jaskyňa lies near the village of Tatranská Kotlina. You can reach it from Tatranská Lomnica or from Spišská Belá. It is located on the left side of the road in the Kobylí vrch massif. There are several caves in Vysoké Tatry, but Belianska jaskyňa is the only one open to the public. It features rich dripstone decoration and is well worth a tour. An educational trail leads up to it. In less than a kilometer, you will pass information boards that will familiarize you with environmental protection, flora, fauna, and the history of the cave itself.

The cave was discovered by gold prospectors as early as 1826, but it was subsequently forgotten. It was rediscovered in 1881 and opened to the public in 1884. An interesting fact is that electric lighting was introduced into the cave in 1896—just 12 years after the invention of the light bulb. Another curious fact was the attempt to transform the ordinary dripstone cave into an ice cave. The lower sections of the cave were supposed to be artificially iced over, but this damaged the decorations, so the plan was abandoned.

Let's move to the present. Inside the cave, 1,370 meters of underground beauty, a 125-meter vertical rise, and exactly 860 steps await you. Dress warmly before visiting the cave; the temperature inside hovers between 5 and 6 degrees Celsius, and you will be underground for over an hour. The cave is open year-round, with the exception of a few weeks in the winter months. It is also closed every Monday. It is necessary to check visiting hours in advance online, as they differ during the high season and off-season.

In the cave, you will be captivated by flowstone waterfalls, especially in Vysoký dóm and Vodopádový dóm. Hudobná sieň is also fascinating. Its name is fitting—thanks to its exceptional acoustics, musical concerts have been held here both in the past and present. If you think the underground world is lifeless, you are mistaken. In Belianska jaskyňa alone, there are up to 7 species of bats.

You can enjoy a visit to Belianska jaskyňa from several locations. Right next to the cave is Tatranská Kotlina. There you will find beautiful, stylish accommodation in guesthouses with typical High Tatras architecture. The same applies to cozy cottages suitable both for couples in love and groups of friends. You will also find plenty of guesthouses and private accommodations in nearby Ždiar. Belianska jaskyňa is proof that in Vysoké Tatry, it is not only towering peaks that deserve attention, but also the underground world. Discover Vysoké Tatry from beneath the surface.

Indoor Fun Park Kamzíkovo

Indoor Fun Park Kamzíkovo

Vysoké Tatry mesto

In our largest high mountains, they also think of our little ones. They have created a unique indoor amusement playground here called Indoor Fun Park Kamzíkovo. It is situated in the premises of the original upper cable car station at Skalnaté pleso. You can reach it from Tatranská Lomnica along the green hiking trail. The ascent is more demanding and takes approximately 3 hours. Families with children and less experienced tourists therefore prefer to use the cable car from Tatranská Lomnica, which will take them up to Skalnaté pleso in just a few minutes.

The indoor playground offers an excellent space for the fun of children and the rest of parents. A maze, slides, and a popular ball pool are available for children here. Meanwhile, parents will certainly fully enjoy the local relaxation zone.

However, Kamzíkovo is not just an ordinary amusement park. This unique project is characteristic for its educational fun value. Before entering the amusement park, young enthusiasts of Tatra nature are greeted by a mini gallery of Tatra animals. They can view photo panels of Tatra animal inhabitants here. They will get to know the brown bear, the agile chamois, the crafty fox, but also the majestic eagle, the clever marmot, and the wise owl. A true gem of this amusement park is the real exhibit of the Tatra chamois.

Are you asking yourself why exactly Kamzíkovo? The Tatra chamois is an endemic subspecies of the chamois, which is rare precisely because it lives only in the territory of the Tatry and Nízke Tatry. For this reason, the chamois has become part of the logo of both national parks and, at the same time, the symbol of the children's park, Kamzíkovo.

A holiday in the Tatry mountains has long since ceased to be just about nature and hiking. Although the local natural wealth is still the biggest attraction for visitors to the Tatranský národný park, the people of the Tatras try to make trips to the mountains as pleasant as possible for us in every way. A trip to Skalnaté pleso will certainly be enriched by a visit to Indoor Fun Park Kamzíkovo. And when the sun shines outside again, you can return to the lake with your children or round off the playful fun in the beautiful Svištia krajinka (Marmot Land) full of climbing frames and carved Tatra animals. After you take the cable car back down to Tatranská Lomnica, you will certainly come across pleasant accommodation near Indoor Fun Park Kamzíkovo. Accommodation in Tatranská Lomnica will please you with a wide range of cottages, log cabins, pleasant villas, as well as guest houses and apartments. Skalnaté pleso

Skalnaté pleso

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Skalnaté pleso is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Vysoké Tatry mountains. You can get here from Tatranská Lomnica on foot along a marked hiking trail or by cable car. It makes a beautiful trip for families with children as well.

Skalnaté pleso is located at an altitude of 1,755 m above sea level, and an educational trail leads around it, keeping even the youngest visitors entertained. At the top of the cable car station, there is a restaurant with a sun terrace, and right next to it is a children's playground - Svištia krajinka, where kids can play to their heart's content. You will find wooden marmot sculptures, climbing frames, a marmot cabin, and many other attractions here.

The tarn is of morainic origin, formed naturally after the Ice Age. No fish live in it, and its water level fluctuates. Interestingly, during dry periods, the lake dries up, which has been influenced not only by climate change but also by the construction of the cable car station.

From Skalnaté pleso, you can take a cable car to Lomnický štít, which towers to an altitude of 2,634 m above sea level directly above the tarn, creating breathtaking views. Near the tarn, at an altitude of 1,781 m above sea level, you will also discover the Astronomické observatórium, which includes an observatory.

Skalnaté pleso is magnificent in both winter and summer. During a winter skiing trip, you can relax here before hitting the slopes, on what is, by the way, the steepest ski slope in Slovakia. However, don't forget to check the weather forecast; the Vysoké Tatry can be unpredictable. Set out on a trip here and you certainly won't regret it. Monkova dolina

Monkova dolina

Ždiar

If you are not afraid of a more demanding hike and like to learn something along the way, we will direct you to Ždiar and from there to Monkova dolina, where you can walk an interesting educational trail.

The 5 km long Monkova dolina is situated in the northern part of Belianske Tatry. At the head of this glacier-origin valley rise the peaks Hlúpy and Ždiarska vidla. The valley was named after the once widespread Ždiar surname Monka, although it is not known what relationship the Monka family had to it, whether they were the owners or leased it.

An educational trail leads through Monkova dolina, which is very beautiful, but at the same time demanding. On the more than 8 km long route with 6 stops, you need to expect a steep climb and a large elevation gain (945 m). The trail will guide you from Ždiar across the confluence of the Biela stream and Rígeľský potok, then through Monkova dolina, via Široké sedlo all the way to Kopské sedlo. Along the way, views await you not only of Belianske Tatry, but from Široké sedlo also of Vysoké Tatry. In addition to views of blooming meadows, you might also get the chance to spot chamois. The trail is accessible only from mid-June to the end of October. At the beginning of the route at the mouth of Monkova dolina, an entrance fee must be paid. Completing the trail takes about 4 to 5 hours.

Monkova dolina is not the only place you can head to from Ždiar. Plan a trip to Belasé pleso, or visit Bachledova dolina with Chodník korunami stromov. If you are interested in folk architecture, visit Ľudové múzeum - Ždiarsky dom; for children, Family Park Strachankovo or Svetelný dóm will be a great experience. In Belianske Tatry, discover Belianska jaskyňa as well. And you can enjoy winter on the slopes of resorts directly in Ždiar – Strednica, Krasuľa, Strachan, or Monkova dolina.

For all of this, you will need pleasant accommodation, and there is certainly no shortage of it here. The most common type of accommodation in Ždiar are chalets and traditional wooden houses, which will provide you with complete privacy and very good amenities, making you feel right at home. Practically equipped and well-located are apartments, which can often be found, for example, near ski slopes. Guesthouses also offer very good services, often featuring their own restaurant or even a wellness area. Monkova dolina is already looking forward to you conquering it. Rent comfortable accommodation in Ždiar and set off on an educational hike.

Observatórium Lomnický štít

Observatórium Lomnický štít

Vysoké Tatry mesto

A cable car trip to Lomnický štít is a pinnacle adrenaline experience for many visitors to the Tatry. For most of us, it is unimaginable that people come to this place regularly to work here daily. They are the employees of Observatórium Lomnický štít, the highest-located workplace in Slovakia. The observatory is situated at an altitude of 2,632 m above sea level, on the summit of the second-highest peak of Vysoké Tatry. A cable car leads here from Skalnaté pleso. The starting point is Tatranská Lomnica, one of the largest settlements in Vysoké Tatry. Truly fit hikers are also offered an incredible hiking experience here: a climb up Lomničák accompanied by mountain guides.

Observatórium Lomnický štít was established between 1957 and 1962 as a result of a global initiative during the International Geophysical Year. Since that period, it has served for meteorological measurements and observations by Slovenský hydrometeorologický ústav. In 1964, Astronomický ústav SAV also began conducting its research here. The main object of observation for astronomers on Lomnický štít is our largest star, the Sun. The observatory is among the world's rarities, as systematic research into the solar emission lines takes place here. Excursions to this unique workplace of the astronomical institute are possible only during open house days, which are usually held twice a year. During this time, anyone can peek into the premises of our highest-located observatory and, in case of good visibility, observe the starry sky up close.

Lomnický štít is a major attraction for tourists. In addition to a wonderful panoramic view of Malá Studená dolina, the five Spišské plesá tarns, Ľadový štít, Gerlach, Vysoká, Rysy, and Kriváň, you can also enjoy a delicious coffee here in the stylish café Dedo. Have you ever drunk coffee at an altitude of 2,634 m above sea level? They will be happy to prepare one for you on Lomnický štít. A night spent under the starry sky on the summit of Lomničák is undoubtedly a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience. However, the price of such an adventure is unaffordable for most visitors, so they prefer accommodation near Observatórium Lomnický štít. Accommodation in Tatranská Lomnica offers a wide range of guesthouses and apartments, as well as pleasant mountain huts and wooden chalets. Choose the right one for yourself and get a good night's sleep, because every day in the Tatry brings new adventures.

On the way down from Lomnický štít, you will step off the cable car at the picturesque Skalnaté pleso spreading at its foot. Here, in addition to a pleasant walk around the moraine tarn and a beautiful view, you can enjoy a stay with your little ones in the popular Svištia krajinka. Afterward, the cable car will comfortably take you back to Tatranská Lomnica. Do not leave the Tatry just yet, though. Right in Tatranská Lomnica, they have prepared a great ride for you on Bobová dráha Tatrabob. Enjoy the adrenaline under the Tatras' peaks.

Zelené pleso

Zelené pleso

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Zelené pleso is one of the most romantic tarns in the Vysoké Tatry mountains. This glacial lake, lying at an altitude of 1551 m a.s.l., was named thanks to the springs that well up at its bottom and cause green spots. However, a more interesting variation is the ancient legend according to which a dazzling green gemstone fell into it from Jastrabej veže tower.

If you were looking on a map, point your finger to the eastern part of the Vysoké Tatry, to the Doliny Bielej vody kežmarskej valley, or the Doliny Zeleného plesa valley. Thanks to a maximum depth of 4.5 m, you can see all the way to the bottom of this moraine tarn from near the shore. With an area of 1.78 ha, it does not belong among the largest tarns, but it is definitely one of the most beautiful.

This turquoise-colored tarn is a popular destination not only for experienced hikers, skiers, and cyclists but also for families with older children or active seniors. Even so, good physical fitness is recommended, as the hike with an elevation gain of 855 meters along the yellow tourist trail is only moderately difficult, yet relatively lengthy. However, if that is not enough for you, the natural continuation of the route is the ascent to Jahňací štít peak or continuing to Skalnaté pleso.

The dominant feature of the view is the well-known "Brnčalka", as the Chata pri Zelenom plese mountain hut is called, which, thanks to its ochre facade, cannot be confused with any other. The history of the first shelter on the site of the current hut dates back to the end of the 1890s. It is open year-round, and if you are planning a challenging hike to the surrounding peaks, it is a suitable place for an overnight stay. Otherwise, do you know about its unusual phenomenon, which is more known from Nordic countries? In the period from October to March, not a single ray of sun touches it. Despite this, it is very popular even during this period.

The starting points for the hike to Zelenému plesu are Tatranské Matliare, the Biela Voda bus stop, or Tatranská Lomnica. For a perfect hiking experience, good planning is necessary, especially if you are traveling with children. So that you are not under time pressure to return home before dark, we recommend booking accommodation nearby in advance. You can find the best offers for accommodation near Zeleného plesa, as well as accommodation Tatranské Matliare or accommodation Tatranská Lomnica, directly on our website.

Near Rainerova chata, Studený potok is formed by the confluence of Malý Studený potok from Malá Studená dolina and Veľký Studený potok from Veľká Studená dolina. The stream flows down a massive terrain fault, forming cascades and cataracts; the most famous are Malý vodopád, Skrytý vodopád, Veľký vodopád, and Dlhý vodopád. Obrovský vodopád

Obrovský vodopád

Vysoké Tatry mesto

With its height of 20 m, Obrovský vodopád ranks among the larger waterfalls of the Vysoké Tatry, although its massive appearance and the powerful roar of its flow contribute to this more than its height. If you want to see it, you must visit Malá Studená dolina. It is located near the well-known Zamkovského chata, at an altitude of 1,330 m above sea level.

It was created by Studený potok in the ravine of Malý Studený potok. It belongs to the group of Vodopády Studeného potoka, but since it is located somewhat further from the others and has a unique appearance and size, it is often viewed separately.

You can view the other cascades and waterfalls of Studený potok if you follow the red hiking trail from Hrebienok, past Bilíkova chata all the way to Rainerova chata. All the waterfalls in this group are among the gems of our mountains. Some tourists even say they feel a fairy-tale atmosphere beside them.

You can reach Obrovský vodopád via several hiking trails. Take the route from Tatranská Lesná, Starý Smokovec, Tatranská Lomnica, or from Hrebienok. When you continue from the waterfall along the red hiking trail, you will reach the famous Téryho chata. But that is not the only hiking destination. You will also reach Zamkovského chata, Zbojnícka chata, Skalnaté pleso, or Päť spišských plies. This circuit is definitely worth doing to let yourself be awed by the magnificent Tatra nature.

Have you also decided to take a photo from the bridge directly opposite Obrovský vodopád? To feel the pleasant and much-sought-after cooling in the sweltering summer? To be in harmony with nature and your own thoughts for a moment? In that case, you are in the right place in the Tatras. We recommend booking accommodation near one of the starting points for the routes to Obrovský vodopád and enjoying a great experience hiking to it.

Hrebienok

Hrebienok

Vysoké Tatry mesto

The Vysoké Tatry are a synonym for good skiing and a guarantee of plenty of snow. If you cannot imagine winter without biting frosts and endless snow fun, visit Hrebienok.

It is located above well-known Starý Smokovec, the administrative center of the Vysoké Tatry. A comfortable road leads from Starý Smokovec straight to Hrebienok, the paradise of winter fun. You can reach the most famous Tatra settlement by car or bus. Your first steps will lead to a beautiful wooden church building, which is the pride and a representative of traditional Tatra architecture.

It is right here that you will find the station for the cable car to Hrebienok. It is exceptional because it is a funicular. Modern and fast, it replaced its older predecessor just a few years ago. Another alternative is a hiking trail or an asphalt road leading all the way up to Hrebienok, to an altitude of almost 1,300 meters above sea level.

Hrebienok is a tourist hub not only in winter, but also in summer. It serves as a starting point for hikes along the Tatranská magistrála trail, into Veľká studená dolina or Malá studená dolina. Almost directly at Hrebienok, you will find the well-known Bilíkova chata, and just a short distance further, Rainerova chata, Zamkovského chata, or Vodopády Studeného potoka. Pure natural beauty. And as if that were not enough, the majestic Slavkovský štít, which in the distant past was considered the highest Tatra peak, will tower directly above your head.

Even if hiking boots are not your favorite footwear, you won't be bored at Hrebienok either. Here you will find snowtubing, a ride down a snow trough on an inflatable tube. Many find riding mountain scooters or the new addition, mountain carts, attractive. In summer, you can enjoy the ride all the way down to Starý Smokovec. In winter, the road serves as a toboggan track. You can rent a sled, take the funicular up, and thus avoid the grueling pull up the hill. The toboggan track is equipped with artificial lighting, and night sledding is a unique experience you should definitely treat yourself to.

Skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts will also find good conditions prepared here, although operations at Hrebienok are always uncertain. The more demanding slope from Hrebienok at the foot of Slavkovský štít opens only very sporadically. The slope leading down to Starý Smokovec occasionally struggles with a lack of snow. You will certainly have fun at Hrebienok, but if you love skiing, try checking the snow conditions and plan a backup strategy for a nearby ski resort in the area.

You can stay directly at the hotel on Hrebienok. Every morning, you will wake up to a view of the entire Podtatranská kotlina basin, with Slavkovský štít above your head and Lomnický štít off to the side. Alternatively, choose accommodation in Starý Smokovec, which offers a variety of luxury hotels, beautiful guesthouses, as well as affordable private rentals. A vacation in the Tatras thus doesn't have to be just for snobs, but for everyone.

Kúpele Horný Smokovec

Kúpele Horný Smokovec

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Located at an altitude of 960 m a.s.l., Kúpele Horný Smokovec is the highest-altitude spa for children and adolescents. They specialize in the treatment of children aged 3 to 18. They are the only Tatra spa focused on the treatment of non-specific respiratory diseases. They take advantage of the presence of high-quality mountain air along with a climate suitable for active outdoor movement. Just looking at the spa, children will feel like they are on vacation rather than in treatment. Modern buildings, numerous playgrounds, greenery all around, and in the background, the panorama of the majestic Tatra peaks.

The Opatrný couple put the sanatorium into operation in 1928. Even for its time, it was modernly and above-standardly equipped, focusing on the treatment of children with tuberculosis. In 1948, the sanatorium was nationalized and operated under the name Detská ozdravovňa Horný Smokovec. In 1971, its focus changed, and children with upper respiratory tract diseases began receiving treatment here. The healing home became part of the state spa system, first Czechoslovak, later Slovak. In 1997, it returned to the hands of the granddaughters of the original owners, who continued the work of their grandparents and preserved the tradition of the sanatorium for children with respiratory diseases.

Children with severely weakened immunity often arrive at Kúpele v Hornom Smokovci. The foundation of the treatment is climatotherapy, which, together with special rehabilitation, helps strengthen immunity and thus improve the quality of life. Climatotherapy treatment is further supplemented by inhalations, electrotherapy (diathermy), light therapy (solux and bioptron), mountain sun (UV therapy), paraffin, stays in saunas (infrared, Finnish, steam, and salt saunas) and a pool, massages, relaxation in a rest room, and physical education.

The spa strives not to evoke a feeling in children that they are in medical treatment. They pay close attention to home-quality food, taking into account the special needs of individual patients. They provide sports, cultural, and leisure programs for children, so they never get bored here. The outdoor playground features slides, climbing frames, and a sandbox. Sitting in a relaxation gazebo or by the garden fireplace also comes in handy. Football, volleyball, and basketball courts are available, and a tennis court is a matter of course. The complex features its own fitness center and saunas.

A primary school, a kindergarten, and an after-school children's club are established at the spa, which children regularly attend during the morning hours. Kúpele Horný Smokovec boasts the oldest school attached to a medical facility in the Slovak Republic, providing primary and lower secondary education. Teachers follow the curriculum that the child brings from their own school. If they do not bring one, they follow their own curriculum. In addition to traditional knowledge, education also brings many supplementary activities. Excursions are organized to explore the Vysoké Tatry region, as well as visits to various galleries and museums. The program also includes puppet shows, playing musical instruments, sports, art, or singing competitions, and discussions on diverse topics. Teachers try to divert the children's thoughts away from their illness. They want to teach them to live with it, smile, maintain their enthusiasm, and jump fully into life. They want every child to get a chance to succeed. And very often, this exact mindset greatly assists the entire healing process.

A matter of course during treatment is also filling the leisure time of children who are on a stay without parent accompaniment. Whenever possible, children are outside in the fresh air. This demonstrably helps children and lifts their overall positive mood. They do not miss the TV or computer screen at all. They acquire healthier life habits that will have undeniable long-term effects.

The surroundings of Horný Smokovec offer many possibilities for trips and attractions that you can enjoy together with your children. Surrounding areas of the Vysoké Tatry also offer plenty of fun. Visit museums, galleries, and diverse hiking options are available as well. You will experience fun on the Bobová dráha v Tatranskej Lomnici bobsleigh track. In the town, we also recommend visiting Botanická záhrada Tatranská Lomnica, Múzeum Tatranského národného parku, Indoor Fun Park Kamzíkovo, or Galéria Dobrá hračka. You will ride the funicular up to Hrebienok, where you can view the Tatranský ľadový dóm Hrebienok. Take a trip to Svištej krajinke or to one of the waterfalls in the Vysoké Tatry. The possibilities are almost endless.

Children at the spa gain friendships for life. In a playful way and in a beautiful environment, they complete treatment and will return home to you healthier, more positive, and more resilient. The entire staff of the spa, whether professional medical or pedagogical, is highly qualified, and your child will be excellently cared for. Naturally, parents can decide to undergo the treatment together with their child. Often, the whole family even comes and spends all their time outside medical procedures on trips in the area. If you long for a similar family experience, you will certainly find suitable accommodation near Kúpele Horný Smokovec on our portal. Take a look at the offer on the page ubytovanie Horný Smokovec and choose the right one!

Tatra Labyrint

Tatra Labyrint

Malý Slavkov

Tatra Labyrint in Malý Slavkov represents a unique leisure complex that offers visitors fun and adventure in the form of a huge natural maze.

The attraction is located on the edge of the village of Malý Slavkov, in the Kežmarok district, just a few kilometers from the historical town of Kežmarok and the Vysoké Tatry mountains. The main attraction is a seasonally built labyrinth created in a field of tall grain or corn, with its route and theme changing every year. Visitors have to tackle an extensive network of corridors and dead ends, which often hide various trivia questions and logical tasks for both children and adults. The entire complex is designed to respect the natural environment and offer a safe space for family enjoyment. In addition to the maze itself, a landscaped area with accompanying activities is available, completing the atmosphere of a modern countryside amusement park. Thanks to its location, Tatra Labyrint also offers impressive views of the Vysoké Tatry panorama while searching for a way out, adding an unforgettable visual dimension to the entire experience. Since it is an attraction dependent on crop growth, its operation is seasonal, usually from July to the end of September.

What can you find here?

Its features actually include a camera system and a timer.

In the Tatras, they gave the expression "it goes like a sled in summer" a whole new meaning. You can enjoy an adrenaline ride on the trainer all year round. In winter, the track is artificially cooled, creating favorable conditions for sledding in any weather. And how about summer? You will get specially modified sleds with small wheels, on which it will go just like a sled in winter, even during the summer months. Night sledding represents a real adventure. You won't need a light on your cap, as the track is artificially illuminated.

Slnečné hodiny Nová Lesná

Slnečné hodiny Nová Lesná

Nová Lesná

Just by reading the name of the attraction, you will figure out how to find your way around this interesting sight. Slnečné hodiny Nová Lesná (Sundial Nová Lesná) is located directly in the sub-Tatra village of Nová Lesná. This scientific device designed for measuring time will catch your attention as an attraction under the Tatras mainly for children, but adults will marvel at it as well.

Sundials as such work on the principle of incident light. Therefore, if you want to experience firsthand how this ancient device works, plan a trip to see it during beautiful sunny days. The space of the structure as such consists of three elements: the sundial, the panoramic orientation object, and meditation stools. If it were not for the idea of creating the sundial by Mr. Nosek and Ms. Šimoníková, this project would not have been successfully realized.

Time is a relative quantity. Here, you can spend a long time reflecting on yourself or watching the movement of the Sun in the sky by the sundial. The uniqueness of this work lies in the fact that the clock as such is multiple. What does that mean? You can look at the southern clock, western clock, or noon clock. Simply put, you can say that the western clock shows time only in the afternoon, the noon clock shows true local time in the settlement of Malý Smokovec, and the southern one shows daylight saving time (in Arabic numerals) as well as the time for the rest of the year (in Roman numerals).

At the panoramic orientation object, observing the surroundings is particularly interesting. On the installed spatial structure, you will learn information regarding the panorama of the Vysoké Tatry. How wonderful it is to admire individual peaks in the distance, their altitude, and imagine conquering them. Excellent for every tourist.

The meditation stools are part of the area in front of the southern dial of the sundial. There are precisely 12 wooden stools intended for sitting, observing the surroundings, and meditating. They symbolically correspond to the number of hours in a day as well as the number of months in a year.

If you decide to visit this picturesque village, definitely do not miss its attraction. On a sunny day, you will recharge your energy here and learn the exact time. From the sundial, you can also plan a trip to nearby attractions in the area. It will be best to wake up in the morning in accommodation near Slnečné hodiny Nová Lesná, or in accommodation in Nová Lesná, but do not snub accommodation in the Tatra settlements either. From an apartment in Starý Smokovec, you can take a look into Tricklandia, and from private accommodation in Dolný Smokovec, winter sports at the Pod lesom ski resort will come in handy. It is up to you how you decide to spend your time.

Dolný Smokovec - Pod lesom

Dolný Smokovec - Pod lesom

Vysoké Tatry mesto

The Vysoké Tatry are famous for high-quality services, groomed slopes, and ski resorts for even the most demanding skiers. If you are looking for first-class skiing, you will certainly find exactly what you long for beneath the peaks of our highest mountains. But if you are attracted even a little bit by skiing in a quiet resort where the slope will belong almost exclusively to you, we have one place you must visit.

Starý Smokovec is one of the most famous Tatra settlements. The famous funicular railway to Hrebienok, a popular destination for tourists in both summer and winter, also leads from here. Just a few kilometers south lies its brother, Dolný Smokovec. It became famous mainly for treating respiratory diseases in the local children's sanatorium. Beautiful surroundings and fresh air are the main prerequisites not only for treatment, but also for perfect skiing.

A small and inconspicuous ski resort is situated in the part of Dolný Smokovec with the poetic name Pod lesom. Its name is Greguskaski. It lies above the village of Nová Lesná, where you will find plenty of affordable accommodation options in private rentals.

The resort offers only one slope, but given its focus on complete beginners, even that is sufficient. It is of blue difficulty, the lowest category. Its length is 400 meters and it offers an elevation gain of exactly 50 meters. The entire resort sits at an altitude of 874 – 924 meters above sea level. Two ski lifts will take care of your comfort, helping you forget about long queues.

Despite the resort being really small, it offers an artificial snowmaking system. You won't have to worry about a lack of snow. There is also a ski school here. The slope is particularly suitable for those of you stepping onto skis for the very first time. An undeniable asset of this ski resort is the price of ski passes. If you are a beginner skier, it would be wasteful to pay dozens of euros for a skipass in a larger resort when you would spend the whole day learning on a single slope anyway.

In the area, you will find cross-country trails for enthusiasts of the white track. The environment of the Vysoké Tatry is generally extremely attractive and offers dozens, if not hundreds, of leisure opportunities. Whether it is a trip to the aforementioned Hrebienok, evening sledding, or a cable car ride to the peak of Lomnický štít. Alternatively, if you still haven't had enough of skiing, visit Starý Smokovec, Tatranská Lomnica, or Štrbské Pleso.

Finding accommodation near the slope in Dolný Smokovec is not a problem. Just a few dozen meters away are various private accommodations, whether in the Pod lesom area itself or in nearby Nová Lesná. The latter offers attractively priced accommodation in guesthouses, apartments, private rentals, and chalets. Beginner skiers can boldly head to the Vysoké Tatry as well. You just need to know where to go.

Gerlachovský štít

Gerlachovský štít

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Gerlachovský štít is among the greatest landmarks of the High Tatras. This is not only due to its altitude of 2,655 m a.s.l., which makes it the highest peak in Slovakia, but also thanks to its unmistakable appearance, untouched nature, and hiking possibilities. However, if you also want to be among the lucky ones who have conquered this majestic peak, keep in mind that ascent is only possible accompanied by a mountain guide.

In the past, back in the 18th century, Kriváň, another inimitable Tatra giant, was determined as the highest peak based on elevation measurements. In the 19th century, however, Ľudovít Greiner determined Gerlachovský štít to be the highest peak of the High Tatras, and it holds its primacy to this day. It is part of the peaks that form the famous Gerlachovský kotol basin. The ascent by Ján Still and his companions in 1834 is considered the first known ascent of Gerlach. The first reliably documented ascent was completed by Viennese military mappers in 1868.

The most popular ascent route leads from Sliezsky dom via Velická próba, with a descent via Batizovská próba. However, Martinova cesta is considered by hikers to be the most attractive route, starting either from Litvorové sedlo or Poľské hrebeň and subsequently by abseiling from Velický štít. No matter how you reach the summit, your reward will be breathtaking views of almost all surrounding mountain ranges and Tatra peaks. Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra, Nízke Tatry, Kozie chrbty, Slovenský raj, and many others will be in the palm of your hand. Under favorable weather conditions, you will even see Kékes in Hungary, Lysá hora in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids in neighboring Czechia, as well as many Polish and Ukrainian peaks.

Do you know the famous observatories at Skalnaté pleso and Lomnický štít? Originally, it was considered that one of them would be located right on Gerlach, after its construction on Slavkovský štít was rejected. And that is just one of the interesting facts, Gerlachovský štít hides many more. However, the mountain guides, for whom this Tatra majesty has become a second home, will tell you the most about them.

A hike to Gerlach needs to be properly planned. We suggest starting by finding suitable accommodation near Gerlachovský štít, which you can find right on our website. The ascent of Gerlachovský štít is a once-in-a-lifetime experience; we wish you plenty of strength and a safe return home in good health.

Ski centrum Strednica Ždiar

Ždiar

Are you a casual skier, a large family with children, or looking to learn how to stand on skis? Then you need gentle and sufficiently wide slopes where you will not feel intimidated. Add to that a beautiful view so you fall in love with skiing, good snack bars to take a break, and easy accessibility so you do not get lost. You will find all of this in Ždiar, at the Strednica ski resort.

Ždiar is a typical, distinctive mountain village. While harsh climatic conditions may make life less comfortable for the locals, for skiers, on the contrary, they mean an abundance of snow. You will find the village on the road leading to Poland, towards the Lysá Poľana border crossing. The resort itself lies directly by the main road at the northern end of the village.

The first thing that will captivate you upon arrival is the surrounding nature. The resort is situated between the Spišská Magura mountain range and Belianske Tatry. Rising directly above it is their highest peak, Havran, at 2,152 metres above sea level. Once you see all that splendor covered in pure white snow, you will forget for a moment that you came here to ski.

In Ski centrum Strednica Ždiar, you will find approximately 3 kilometres of blue, least demanding slopes. The longest of them measures 600 metres, while most run around 300 metres in length. In addition, all the slopes are regally wide. It is thus perhaps one of the best places we know of to learn how to ski. As many as 9 ski lifts take care of rapidly moving queues, so you will certainly forget about long waits at Strednica. After all, you came to ski, not to wait.

The entire resort has artificial snowmaking capabilities, which, combined with Spišská Magura promising plenty of snow, means you will enjoy skiing here not only through winter but also into spring. Naturally, restaurants, snack bars, ski school instructors, and much more are available to make your skiing trip even more enjoyable.

You will be able to try cross-country skiing, snowparagliding, or tandem flights. In the evening, you can have fun at an open-air evening disco. Nature lovers will surely appreciate the proximity of a nearby unique attraction, Belianska jaskyňa, which ranks among the most visited caves overall. Naturally, you can also take a trip to the nearby Vysoké Tatry, Tatranská Lomnica, or Štrbské Pleso.

Strednica Ždiar is an expansive ski resort suitable for beginners. The village of Ždiar itself is huge, which guarantees ample available accommodation capacity. Right next to the resort, you will find guesthouses whose architecture resembles those in the Alps. In the center of the village, there are many private rentals, and you will also come across affordable tourist hostels. Some of the guesthouses are equipped with modern wellness centers, and there is no better relaxation after skiing than in a warm hot tub.

Ždiar, a unique and renowned village, welcomes all skiers. Just pack your bags and you are good to go. We look forward to seeing you.

Velické pleso

Velické pleso

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Velické pleso is a sparkling gem and at the same time the largest tarn in Velická dolina valley in the Vysoké Tatry mountains. The lake, covering an area of 2.241 ha with a depth of 4.5 m, is situated at an altitude of 1,663 m a.s.l., near the mountain hotel Sliezsky dom. Velické pleso was formed after the retreat of a glacier, leaving a smaller moraine above it. The lake was also visited by Pope John Paul II, who prayed on July 3, 1995, in a gazebo built specially on its shore.

It is possible to set off on a hike to Velické pleso from several starting points: Tatranská Polianka, Starý Smokovec, Popradské pleso, or Tatranské Zruby. Although the route to the lake is classified as moderately demanding, the reward is gorgeous nature. For those who do not like walking but prefer pedaling a bicycle, it is good news that Velické pleso is the highest point accessible by bike in the Tatras.

From Sliezsky dom, a green hiking trail leads past the tarn to Poľský hrebeň. From June to October, a popular tourist destination is also the 15 m high Velický vodopád waterfall. Situated in the valley above the tarn are also Kvetnicové pliesko, Vyšné Velické plieska, and Dlhé pleso. At the same time, Velická dolina is the usual starting point for the ascent of Gerlachovský štít, which is permitted only with a mountain guide.

If you are planning to explore Velická dolina, look for accommodation around one of the starting points. A pleasant stay will be provided by cottages in Tatranská Polianka or apartments in Tatranské Zruby. Vysoké Tatry also offer a diverse selection of hotels and guesthouses. Just choose according to whether you are a family with young children or seniors, or whether you prefer comfort or lower accommodation prices.

Kežmarský hrad

Kežmarský hrad

Kežmarok

Relatively few preserved castles have survived in our country today. If you do not enjoy wandering among unstable ruined walls and imagining what the castle once looked like, visit the town of Kežmarok. The town castle, or chateau, has stood here for centuries in an almost unchanged form. You have the opportunity to peek into the lives of nobles and lords of the castle, the wealthiest people of that time.

Today, the castle gives the impression of a romantic chateau. This was not always the case. The castle was originally Gothic and was built sometime at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. It did not spring up on a greenfield site. In its place stood Kostol sv. Alžbety church from 1251. A residential wing was later added to the church, turning it into a monastery.

The first written mention of the castle dates back to 1447. A later owner, Imrich Zápoľský, ordered the demolition of both the church and the monastery. This took place in 1486. The construction material from the monastery was used in building the western wing of the castle. Many Slovak castles were struck by fire. Fires rendered many of them uninhabitable, and due to a lack of funds, they began to fall into ruin. A similar disaster did not spare Kežmarský hrad either. And it happened several times. However, it was luckier. One of the fires engulfed it as early as 1575. The reconstruction was in the Renaissance style, and shortly thereafter, the castle fell into the hands of one of the most influential families, the Thökölys.

Thanks to various renovations, Kežmarský hrad began to transform from a cold castle into a pleasant and romantic chateau. The conversion into a chateau reached its final version in 1657, when artists from Italy decorated its entire interior. Even the castle stables had mangers made of marble. A year later, a chapel located in a former defensive bastion was built, or rather rebuilt.

The glorious period of the castle ended in 1720, when it was purchased by the town of Kežmarok. It was used for economic purposes and consequently began to fall into disrepair. Part of the castle fortification was destroyed as well. In 1931, the town established a small town museum in the tower. Kežmarský zámok gained sad notoriety during World War II, when Germans were stationed there and executed several partisans. Extensive reconstruction and preparations for opening it to the public began in 1960.

The castle exhibitions are remarkably varied. Kežmarok was always a town of craftsmen, housing up to 36 medieval guilds. You can find their coats of arms and traditional tools right inside the castle. Exhibitions familiar from other castles include a wide range of weapons or a tour of the castle chapel. Highlights include the dungeon, an exhibition of a medieval pharmacy, or historical vehicles. Everyone will enjoy the castle tour.

As one of the most important towns in Spiš, Kežmarok offers many accommodation options. In addition to hotels and hostels, it offers numerous guest houses. Staying in a burgher house right on the town square. That awaits you as well. If you are looking for more affordable accommodation, choose one of the many private accommodations. Discover Spiš directly from its center, right beneath the ramparts of Kežmarský hrad.

Jezerské jazero

Jezerské jazero

Jezersko

Jezerské jazero lake was named after the small village of Jezersko nearby. The village is located only 15 kilometers from Slovenská Ves, and on the way here, you can enjoy views of the Vysoké Tatry or Belianske Tatry mountains. Lake Jezersko is located below the ridge of Spišská Magura, and this area is also called forgotten by God because it is little known among tourists. So if you long for a peaceful mountain environment and want to enjoy quietness, head to the shores of Jezerské jazero.

The small lake lies at an altitude of 919 m a.s.l. In 1967, it was declared a nature reserve. Water flows here from the surrounding slopes, and its depth is around 2 meters. Jezerský potok stream flows out of the lake. You can reach the lake along a hiking trail either from the village of Jezersko, via a route about 3 kilometers long, or from the popular Bachledova dolina valley.

Some tourists combine a trip to the lake with a walk to Bachledova rozhľadňa lookout tower, which is located on the ridge of Spišská Magura. From here, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the entire lake and its surroundings. Several legends are also connected to Jezerské jazero lake, about spirits living in it or about a powerful force that, according to legend, causes heavy rain when someone cuts down a tree near the lake. Maybe it is true and maybe not, but one thing is certain. The magical turquoise color of the water will surely leave you with a magical feeling.

You can also reach Jezerské jazero lake via a hiking trail from the village of Ždiar, Malá Franková, or Veľká Franková. The Belianske Tatry mountains will thus show themselves to you in all their glory. Benches and an information board about the local fauna and flora have been built near the small lake, where you will learn, for example, that newts live here. Unfortunately, severe windstorms in recent years have taken a toll on the surrounding forest, and it will take several years for new trees to grow here.

The surroundings of Jezersko are tailor-made for an active holiday. In addition to a trip to the lake, you can also enjoy the Chodník korunami stromov treetop walk in Bachledova dolina, or the beautiful Pieninský národný park (Pieniny National Park). For skiers, excellent skiing is also on offer near Jezersko at Bachledka Ski & Sun. Take advantage of the services of our accommodation portal and book accommodation near Jezerské jazero lake, for example on the Bachledova dolina accommodation pages. Discover other interesting tips for attractions in Belianske Tatry as well. Do not wait and set out on an adventure as soon as possible.

Tatras Tower

Tatras Tower

Vysoké Tatry mesto

The Tatras Tower observation tower at Štrbské Pleso represents one of the most modern and highest structures of its kind in Central Europe, offering visitors unique contact with the high-mountain environment.

The attraction is located in the Štrbské Pleso area, in the village of Štrba, in the Poprad district, at an altitude of approximately 1,350 meters. The tower reaches a height of 53 meters, and its spiral path with a gentle incline ensures comfortable and barrier-free access all the way to the very top. During the ascent, visitors pass by educational boards that introduce the fauna, flora, and history of the Tatry mountains, thus the tower also fulfills an educational function. The main attraction is an adrenaline-inducing walking net at a height of almost 50 meters above the ground and a glass floor that offers a view directly beneath the visitors' feet. For thrill-seekers, the longest and highest-situated dry slide in Slovakia is available, which can be used to shorten the way down. The tower's structure is designed to withstand demanding high-mountain conditions while sensitively complementing the surrounding sports infrastructure near the ski jumps. A visit to the tower is possible all year round, while every sunset or temperature inversion in the valleys gives the view an unmistakable atmosphere.

What can you find here?

In the tower complex, you will find a spiral observation path, an adrenaline net, a glass observation platform, and a sixty-one-meter-long dry slide. Interactive educational stations, a souvenir shop, and modern technical facilities, including restrooms, are available. In the immediate vicinity, there are parking lots and starting points for hiking trails around the Areál snov area.

Who is this place suitable for?

The location is ideal for families with children who will appreciate the fun elements and a safe route to the top, as well as for seniors and persons with limited mobility due to the barrier-free access. It is also sought after by landscape photographers and adrenaline lovers who want to try walking on a net above the abyss. Due to the open character of the structure, warmer clothing is recommended even during the summer months, as it can be windy at the top.

What can you visit in the surrounding area?

Just a few minutes of walking separate the tower from the iconic Štrbské pleso lake, which is ideal for walks or boating. You can also visit the Symbolický cintorín (Symbolic Cemetery) at Popradské pleso lake or set off on a hike to the Vodopád Skok (Skok Waterfall) in the Mlynická dolina valley. Kúpele Vyšné Hágy

Kúpele Vyšné Hágy

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Kúpele Vyšné Hágy is the most famous spa for the treatment of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases. They are located in the Vysoké Tatry (High Tatras) in the settlement of the same name, Vyšné Hágy, between Starý Smokovec and Štrbské Pleso. Thanks to the high-mountain air, the treatment of pulmonary diseases is very successful right here in the National Institute for Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases.

The spa in Vyšné Hágy was built by the Central Social Insurance Fund. In 1935, a construction project for a large sanatorium began due to an increased number of tuberculosis cases. The spa opened its doors to its first patients in June 1941. At that time, this treatment institute was one of the largest in Central Europe. To this day, it maintains the quality of its treatment methods and procedures.

The sanatorium has 8 floors and a length of 270 meters. An interesting fact is that it lies at an altitude of 1,130 m a.s.l. In addition, it has nearly 2,000 rooms and around 500 beds for patients. Since its inception, Kúpele Vyšné Hágy has specialized in pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis. In 1948, MUDr. Karol Šiška performed the first lung resection in Slovakia here. In 1958, as many as 286 of these operations were performed.

Throughout the entire period from its establishment to the present day, the treatment spa has maintained highly qualified experts as well as modern instrumentation and equipment. In 1988, the Center for Thoracic Surgery was established here. The institute diagnoses and treats various types of respiratory diseases, including lung tumors and functional lung examinations. It has also expanded its operations into other medical fields: urology and gynecology, ophthalmology, immuno-allergology, and gastroenterology.

Vyšné Hágy is known not only as a spa town. Many might know that here they can find the highest-located primary school in Slovakia. There is an old, no longer used railway line and a tunnel through which the spa was once supplied not only with food, but also with coal for heating. Life in the village is more or less subordinate to the local spa, and most residents work directly in its services. However, Vyšné Hágy is not the only spa in the Vysoké Tatry. Nearby are others, such as Kúpele Nový Smokovec or Kúpele Horný Smokovec.

The Vysoké Tatry mountains are sought after throughout the year not only by spa guests, but also by tourists. In Vyšné Hágy, we can also find hiking trail signs. A steep trail leads from here to the Tatranská magistrála trunk route and to Batizovské pleso tarn. Spa patients take advantage of walks through the surrounding Tatra villages such as Štôla, Starý Smokovec, or Nová Polianka.

The Tatras are simply made for spa recreation not only because of the healthy fresh air, but also because of the wealth of leisure activities. In winter or summer, you can enjoy a cable car trip, for example, to Skalnaté Pleso, Lomnický štít, or Solisko. A trip on the Tatranská elektrická železnica (Tatra Electric Railway) to Štrbské pleso, or by cog railway from Tatranská Štrba, is also popular.

If you head here with children, take them to the Galéria Dobrá hračka gallery in Tatranská Lomnica. They will certainly also appreciate Tricklandia in Starý Smokovec. Of course, in winter you will enjoy sledding, cross-country skiing, or downhill skiing in the mountains. That is why the Vysoké Tatry is an ideal holiday destination for families with children.

We offer accommodation near Kúpele Vyšné Hágy as well as accommodation in the Vysoké Tatry on our portal. Hotels and guesthouses with wellness services, apartments, cottages, and private accommodation are available for you. The accommodation facilities provide advantageous packages for seniors, families with children, and active tourists alike. All you have to do is choose, and your holiday or spa stay in Vyšné Hágy can begin.

Popradské pleso

Popradské pleso

Vysoké Tatry mesto

In Mengusovská dolina, you will find the fourth largest lake in Slovakia – Popradské pleso. Popradské pleso covers an area of almost 7 hectares, is situated at an altitude of 1,494 m above sea level, and reaches a depth of 17 meters. It is just as sought after as the other tarns in Vysoké Tatry.

The tarn was formed in the last ice age after the retreat of glaciers by water flowing in from surrounding peaks and valleys. The path to it is suitable for any determined person, as this route can be managed even by wheelchair users – access is also provided via a paved asphalt road. Find nearby accommodation for families with children, large groups of friends, cyclists, vital seniors, or couples in love, and enjoy Popradské pleso.

In the 18th century, Popradské pleso was also referred to as Rybie pleso. Why? As the only one located on the southern side of the Tatry, it provided a home to the brown trout. In 1879, the first tourist mountain hut was built here, Chata pri Popradskom plese, also known as Chata kpt. Morávku. An interesting feature of Popradské pleso is also Symbolický cintorín (the Symbolic Cemetery for the Victims of the High Tatras), located in a Swiss pine grove under Ostrva. Here, they also honored 13 victims of a 1974 avalanche.

In addition to the blue hiking trail, you can also choose other difficulty levels for your hike to Popradské pleso. It depends entirely on you whether you select the station Popradské Pleso, Štrbské Pleso, or Sliezsky dom as your starting point.

If you plan to stay in the Tatry longer, we definitely recommend choosing from our selection of accommodations, which includes hotels near Popradské pleso, or private cottages near Popradské pleso. Kôprovský štít

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Kôprovský štít is one of the majestic peaks of the High Tatras located at the end of Mengusovská dolina. It belongs to the cadastral area of Štrbské Pleso in the Prešov Region. The ascent to the peak is a medium-difficulty hike. It can be managed by hikers who already have some mountain experience under their belt. From the top, you will enjoy a panoramic view in all directions of the surrounding Tatras peaks.

Kôprovský štít rises to an altitude of 2,363 m above sea level and is one of eight peaks in the High Tatras that you can hike up without a mountain guide. The elevation gain you will overcome is around 1,000 metres, and the route is approximately 20 kilometres long round trip. Be sure to pack enough liquids and food, as the only chalet you will pass is Chata pri Popradskom plese.

The hiking trail to Kôprovský štít starts from Štrbské pleso towards Popradské pleso. You can reach this point via an asphalt road, and you can refresh yourself at Chata pri Popradskom plese. Further on, head towards the junction nad Žabím potokom, through dwarf pines all the way into Mengusovská dolina. Once you cross Hincov potok and continue up the steep section, you will reach Veľké Hincovo pleso. It is the largest and deepest tarn on the Slovak side of the High Tatras. Due to its high altitude, it is frozen for most of the year. Pause and enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding mountains here.

If you are lucky, besides other hikers, you might also spot chamois jumping on the rocks along the way. And if you remain quiet, you will hear the whistling of marmots. From Veľké Hincovo pleso, you will ascend through Vyšné Kôprovské sedlo all the way to Kôprovský štít. You will not find any cross here like on other peaks, but the views will enchant you, and you will remember this amazing ascent for a long time. In the distance, you can see mountains in all directions: Mengusovské štíty, Vysoká, Kriváň, and in good weather, even Lomnický štít.

If you decide to go to Kôprovský štít via a less frequented route, try it from Kôprová dolina. The hike starts at Tri studničky. Although it takes longer, spending plenty of time in the Tatras is well worth it. For hikers, this place is downright ideal for a holiday.

Have you always longed for skiing with a view of the majestic Vysoké Tatry mountains and didn't know where to go? We have solved this puzzle for you. Visit the Zadná Lopušná dolina ski resort near Svit.

You will find Lopušná dolina just 2 km from the town of Svit. It lies right in the neighborhood of the better-known town of Poprad. A comfortable asphalt road leads into Lopušná dolina. First, you will pass the first ski resort called SkiChem. You will continue further until you reach Nová Lopušná dolina SKITATRY.

You may encounter several names: Zadná Lopušná dolina, SKITATRY, Ski Tatrasvit. However, it always refers to one and the same ski resort, where perfect skiing awaits you.

One ski lift and one slope await you here. But don't let that deter you; you are guaranteed to have fun on the slope. The bottom station of the lift is at an altitude of 784 meters above sea level, and the top station is at 1,024 meters above sea level. From there, there is a beautiful view of the entire Vysoké Tatry range, and you won't even want to ski down to the valley.

The total length of the slope is approximately 1 km. It is intended mainly for advanced skiers. Its upper part is marked in black, which means the steepest incline and a challenge even for the best skiers. The lower part is marked in red and is of medium difficulty, where a wide range of skiers will come into their own. The advantage of the lift is that you can detach from it during the ride, thus avoiding the most demanding, black section at the top. For beginners, a short lift in the lower part of the resort is available.

Naturally, the resort features an artificial snowmaking system and a pleasant restaurant with a snack bar in the lower part of the resort. The cherry on top is the option of night skiing under artificial lighting. You truly have something to look forward to, as it is one of the highest quality slopes in the wider area offering this option.

You will also find a ski school, ski equipment rental, and storage here. The Zadná Lopušná dolina ski resort is thus an ideal place with excellent conditions provided for spending your winter holiday.

If you would be interested in trying other slopes in the area, just a few meters away is the aforementioned SkiChem. A good tip is also nearby Lučivná. These are smaller ski resorts with good prices. And we cannot fail to mention the Vysoké Tatry themselves. Ski resorts can be found at Štrbské Pleso or in Tatranská Lomnica. These are modern and large ski areas.

Zadná Lopušná dolina is a favorite spot for many skiers from near and far. Right by the slopes, you will find cottages that provide pleasant and affordable accommodation. The nearby town of Svit also offers plenty of accommodation capacities for skiers. There are many apartments, private rentals, guesthouses, and hotels of all categories. First-class skiing doesn't have to be expensive, nor do you have to travel far for it. Experience it in Nová Lopušná dolina.
