Vodopády Studeného potoka

Vodopády Studeného potoka

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Vodopády Studeného potoka are among the most popular hiking destinations in Vysoké Tatry. It consists of several waterfalls on Studený potok, more precisely on a section approximately 1.5 km long from Rainerova chata to Bilíkova chata. Near Rainerova chata, Studený potok is formed by the confluence of Malý Studený potok from Malá Studená dolina and Veľký Studený potok from Veľká Studená dolina. The stream flows down a massive terrain fault, forming cascades and cataracts; the most famous are Malý vodopád, Skrytý vodopád, Veľký vodopád, and Dlhý vodopád. From Bilíkova chata, the stream flows through calmer terrain without significant drops.

Marked trails lead to the waterfalls. The most common starting point is Hrebienok, which is accessible from Starý Smokovec via a funicular. From here, several routes lead that are easy, and a walk along comfortable paths should be manageable even for families with children. It is also possible to set off from Tatranská Lomnica, from where it is recommended to take the cable car to Skalnaté pleso, followed by the red route to Rainerova chata, and then the blue route to the waterfalls. In Tatranská Lesná, a yellow-marked trail begins, which leads along Cesta Slobody and alongside Studený potok to the waterfalls. It is possible to continue the hike further into Malá Studená dolina, where Obrovský vodopád cascades down on Malý Studený potok.

The villages that serve as starting points for trips to the waterfalls also offer a multitude of tourist attractions. In Starý Smokovec, for example, there is Tricklandia, while in Tatranská Lomnica, you will find the Ski Museum or Galéria Dobrá hračka. Spa destinations such as Nový Smokovec, Horný Smokovec, or Tatranské Zruby are also highly sought after. Ski resorts in Vysoké Tatry are, of course, a matter of course.

For those who need accommodation near Vodopády Studeného potoka, we suggest starting your search in Starý Smokovec, where you will find various types of accommodation. Interesting accommodation options are also provided by Tatranská Lomnica or Stará Lesná. Vysoké Tatry offer tourists truly all categories of accommodation; it is entirely up to you whether you choose cozy cottages, simple private accommodation, or a luxury hotel.

Obrovský vodopád

Obrovský vodopád

Vysoké Tatry mesto

With its height of 20 m, Obrovský vodopád ranks among the larger waterfalls of the Vysoké Tatry, although its massive appearance and the powerful roar of its flow contribute to this more than its height. If you want to see it, you must visit Malá Studená dolina. It is located near the well-known Zamkovského chata, at an altitude of 1,330 m above sea level.

It was created by Studený potok in the ravine of Malý Studený potok. It belongs to the group of Vodopády Studeného potoka, but since it is located somewhat further from the others and has a unique appearance and size, it is often viewed separately.

You can view the other cascades and waterfalls of Studený potok if you follow the red hiking trail from Hrebienok, past Bilíkova chata all the way to Rainerova chata. All the waterfalls in this group are among the gems of our mountains. Some tourists even say they feel a fairy-tale atmosphere beside them.

You can reach Obrovský vodopád via several hiking trails. Take the route from Tatranská Lesná, Starý Smokovec, Tatranská Lomnica, or from Hrebienok. When you continue from the waterfall along the red hiking trail, you will reach the famous Téryho chata. But that is not the only hiking destination. You will also reach Zamkovského chata, Zbojnícka chata, Skalnaté pleso, or Päť spišských plies. This circuit is definitely worth doing to let yourself be awed by the magnificent Tatra nature.

Have you also decided to take a photo from the bridge directly opposite Obrovský vodopád? To feel the pleasant and much-sought-after cooling in the sweltering summer? To be in harmony with nature and your own thoughts for a moment? In that case, you are in the right place in the Tatras. We recommend booking accommodation near one of the starting points for the routes to Obrovský vodopád and enjoying a great experience hiking to it.
