Dlhý vodopád belongs to the quartet of Vodopády Studeného potoka waterfalls in the Vysoké Tatry mountains. These cascades on the stream of Studený potok decorate an approximately 1.5 km long section from Rainerova chata to Bilíkova chata. Dlhý vodopád, which is about 16 meters high, is the last in order from top to bottom; above it lie Malý vodopád, Skrytý vodopád, and Veľký vodopád.

Hikers reach Dlhý vodopád via various routes, the easiest of which leads from Starý Smokovec, or from Hrebienok, which is accessible by a funicular railway. Another popular option is to take the cable car from Tatranská Lomnica up to Skalnaté pleso and follow the red-marked trail to Rainerova chata. You can also set off from Tatranská Lesná, where the route leads along Cesta Slobody and alongside Studený potok.
