Kúpele Piešťany

Kúpele Piešťany

Piešťany

Kúpele Piešťany can be found in the Považie region in the Trnava Region in Southern Slovakia. The town of Piešťany, surrounded by the Malé Karpaty and Považský Inovec mountain ranges, has become a sought-after destination for domestic and foreign guests. The spa is located on an island lying on the Váh river. The Spa Island (Kúpeľný ostrov) is full of greenery and beautifully maintained gardens, attracting visitors not only with its architecture but also with its unique atmosphere and cultural opportunities.

Social life here is rich. Famous personalities love to visit the spa, and various cultural events and exhibitions take place here. Coffee shops and restaurants are filled with people, and you can taste exceptional specialties. Through its professionalism and unique treatment methods, it has won over visitors from overseas, maharajas, sheikhs, and even famous artists such as Alphonse Mucha.

The history of the Piešťany spa dates back to the 16th century, when the first mentions of the healing effects of mud emerging. In the 19th century, wealthy nobles built the first pool baths on their land. However, Kúpele Piešťany experienced its greatest boom when the Winter brothers leased it.

Ľudovít Winter was only 20 years old when his father put him in charge of managing the spa. Young blood proved its worth. Together with his brother, they gradually built stylish hotels, invited talented doctors to Piešťany, and laid the foundation for the Balneologické múzeum. As a symbol of successful cures, they had a statue of a man breaking a crutch erected here, which stands in front of the entrance to the sanatorium.

The Piešťany spa has a 200-year tradition. Patients with rheumatism, musculoskeletal disorders, spine conditions, scoliosis, and post-injury or post-surgery conditions are treated here. Treatment for skin conditions and nervous system disorders is also successful.

Spa treatment relies primarily on thermal mineral water and healing sulfur mud. The water, which gushes from a depth of 2,000 meters, has a temperature of around 67 to 69 degrees. It contains a high proportion of sulfur, which has a beneficial effect on the musculoskeletal system. Sulfur mud positively affects joint diseases, reduces inflammation, and increases joint mobility. It is used either as a bath, a mud pool (bahenisko) in which the patient sits, or through mud wraps applied at a temperature of around 45 degrees. Up to 60 kilograms of mud are used for a single wrap.

Kúpele Piešťany offers as many as 60 types of procedures. These include balneotherapy, pool baths, bubble baths, carbonated tub or dry carbonated gas baths, Scottish douches, electrotherapy, light therapy, laser therapy, and many others. Various types of massages and acupuncture are available. Outdoor and indoor pools, as well as a sauna world, are a matter of course.

Part of the treatment includes rehabilitation, yoga practice, individual physical exercise, a rehabilitation path, and even Nordic walking. Here you can make use of a fitness center, sports grounds, tennis courts, or the Golf & Country Club golf course, which is located directly on the Spa Island and was the first golf course established in Slovakia.

If you choose to relax in Piešťany, in addition to the Spa Island, we also recommend a sightseeing boat cruise on the Váh river across the Sĺňava reservoir. It starts from the Kolonádový most bridge in Piešťany. We have prepared more excursion tips in the surroundings of the town for you on our portal. Here you will also find pleasant accommodation near Kúpele Piešťany. And there is plenty to choose from. We offer cozy apartments, comfortable guesthouses, or private accommodations.

Kúpele Piešťany is a recognized and popular destination. Families with children, couples, and seniors alike will all find plenty to enjoy in this spa town. So do not hesitate and book your holiday in Piešťany today.

Kaštieľ v Nitrianskej Blatnici

Kaštieľ v Nitrianskej Blatnici

Nitrianska Blatnica

If you visit Nitrianska Blatnica, be sure to come and view the landmark of the village. The Renaissance manor house located in its northern part. If you have more time, we definitely recommend visiting this interesting attraction.

The village in which it is located has a rich history. It was made famous mainly by archaeological discoveries from the era of the Great Moravian Empire. The foundations of Kaštieľ v Nitrianskej Blatnici were created as early as 1569, when Ladislav Zeleméry built a curia here. In 1583, with the permission of King Rudolf, it was rebuilt into a fortified manor house with two fortified bastions, which was intended to serve as a refuge from Turkish raids. After later, mainly Renaissance and Baroque rebuilds, the manor house lost its fortress character and acquired the form of a luxurious manor residence.

After the Zeleméry family, several noble families became owners of the manor house. Let us mention at least the more prominent ones: the Dóczy, Esterházy, and Leonhardy families. It is precisely after the last owners that the manor house still bears its name today. After World War II, Leonhardovský kaštieľ served as a convalescent center for war veterans. Later, it also housed a school, a cinema, the municipal office, and the headquarters of an agricultural cooperative. Unfortunately, after 1989, gradual devastation of the manor house occurred. The current owner is gradually reconstructing it. In 2008, it received a new roof, and minor masonry work was also carried out. Despite this, the manor house is inaccessible to the public, and you can only admire it from the exterior. We believe that this national cultural monument will soon acquire a dignified appearance and will also serve the development of tourism.

In addition to the manor house, visitors can also view the extensive nearby park, which is designed in an English landscape style. It represents an undisturbed place for romantic walks and relaxation. Come and marvel at the beauty of ancient trees and draw peace and energy provided by a walk through the tangle of paths beneath their crowns.

Other interesting places are also located in the surroundings of the village. Perhaps the nearby Rotunda sv. Juraja will catch your attention with its appearance and history. Or will the view from Rozhľadňa na Marháte captivate you instead? We definitely recommend history lovers to visit the interesting Archeologické múzeum Veľkej Moravy v Bojnej. Ranč pod Babicou in Bojná with its adjacent pond will, in turn, appeal to those who enjoy good food and countryside life.

When planning your visit, do not forget to book accommodation near Kaštieľ v Nitrianskej Blatnici. You might be the ones to experience unforgettable moments in apartments Nitrianska Blatnica or take advantage of the hospitality and coziness of challets Nitrianska Blatnica. Come and enjoy the uniqueness of this beautiful corner of Slovakia with your family or friends. You will certainly not regret it.

Podolie

There are several villages in the Považie region that are well worth a visit. The picturesque village of Podolie is one of them. As part of your tour, in addition to the Roman Catholic church and the wooden bell tower, do not miss Matúšovo kráľovstvo. It is an interesting tourism project thanks to which miniatures of various fascinating attractions located in Slovakia were created. Come and see interesting objects in scaled-down form situated in a compact area.

The miniature park Matúšovo kráľovstvo is located on the main street of this village. The area boasts an exceptional location right in the heart of the region of three castles, Čachtice, Beckov, and Tematín. Access to the park is simple. After paying a nominal entrance fee, you can transport yourself to places that would otherwise take hours of driving and your time by car or other means of transport. The exhibition of this park is located outdoors. Therefore, it is a good idea to check the weather forecast so that the weather does not spoil your best experience of the tour.

Excursionists enjoy visiting this place because its grounds feature more than 80 models of various castles, châteaux, churches, cottages, and observation towers, as well as birthplaces of prominent Slovak personalities. You can see with your own eyes what Hrad Krásna Hôrka looked like before it burned down. Or will you transport yourself in your imagination to times past when the Lord of the Váh and Tatras, Matúš Čák Trenčiansky, lived at Trenčiansky hrad? Or perhaps you will be drawn to gaze at the elaborate craftsmanship of the birthplace of Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav?

All models in Park miniatúr v Podolí are built based on technical drawings. Therefore, if you come to see the model of Oravský hrad, you will find its exact copy here. This model is at a 1:50 scale, while some structures (mainly churches, cottages, and observation towers) are at a 1:25 or 1:30 scale. The goal of this area is to operate a complete educational and entertainment complex for all age categories. In the area, you will also find a souvenir shop and refreshments. So that you do not have to head back home right away, we recommend booking accommodation near Park miniatúr Matúšovo kráľovstvo.

We also invite explorers of interesting attractions to others in this region. You can easily head to the premises of Čachtické múzeum. In summer, you can cool off nicely or go for a swim in Jazero Horná Streda. You can admire art if you direct your steps to Galéria Petra Matejku. Many are also attracted by a game of golf on the manicured green course at Golf & Country Club Piešťany. To make your children happy, feel free to take them to ZOO Farma New Zealand as well.

Human beings are creatures that need to "recharge their batteries," which is best done in their own bed. We offer you the opportunity to recharge your batteries with our accommodation providers. Try using accommodation in Podolie and spend a wonderful time here. Our accommodation providers will be happy to prepare a bed for you in a hostel room, or you can opt for a comfortable apartment. We will gladly help you choose the best accommodation.

Topoľčiansky hrad

Topoľčiansky hrad

Podhradie (okres Topoľčany)

You might think that you know about all the towns and cities that share their name with a castle. After all, who wouldn't know Bratislavský hrad castle or Trenčiansky hrad castle? However, there is one castle that only a few people know about. That is Topoľčiansky hrad castle.

You will find the ruins of the once majestic castle a few kilometers from the town of Topoľčany itself. To venture among its ruins, you will need to visit the small village of Podhradie. It lies in the mountains of Považský Inovec, which is the most prominent mountain range in the entire area. It offers opportunities not only for history lovers, but also for dedicated hikers.

The castle stands on a massive dolomite rock formation. Such rocky outcrops were generally popular in the past for their excellent strategic location. It is not entirely known in which exact year the castle originates, but it dates back to the 13th century. The castle originally consisted of just a tower, a palace, and a small courtyard. In 1431, it was captured by the Hussite army. The Hussites chose Topoľčiansky hrad castle as their seat, where they resided until 1434. The armies of the Hungarian nobility tried to capture the castle, but without success. Due to the castle's excellent defense, they were forced to pay a ransom for it.

The castle was later expanded and improved, with the main reason being the constant threat of Turkish attacks. It passed through the hands of many owners. Perhaps the most famous family was the Forgáchs, who owned the castle from 1595 until the 18th century. After that, it passed through the hands of many nobles, with the Stummer family being the last. The cold and hard-to-reach castle was uncomfortable for them, so they found refuge in a manor house below the castle in the village of Tovarníky, which is nowadays a part of Topoľčany.

Currently, the castle is a typical castle ruin. The dominant feature of the castle, the crumbling castle tower, underwent reconstruction as early as the late 19th century. Thanks to the atypical stepped shape of its structure, the castle acquired a unique silhouette. An interesting fact is that it is possible to enter this tower.

The village of Podhradie and the town of Topoľčany are part of the Ponitrie region. To get to know it thoroughly, make sure to treat yourself to a visit to the surrounding towns and cities as well. The most significant ones are certainly Prievidza and Nitra. Nitra is an ancient city with many monuments and old narrow streets. If you head to Prievidza, you will be just a short distance from Bojnice. That destination needs no special introduction. You will find a magnificent château, a huge zoo, and a pleasant spa there. Alternatively, set off for Piešťany, perhaps the most famous spa town in this area. Mud wraps, the colonnade bridge, a photo by the Crutch Breaker statue. You shouldn't miss any of these.

The surrounding area offers numerous accommodation options. Directly in Topoľčany, you will find plenty of opportunities, ranging from comfortable hotels to budget hostels. Even in Podhradie itself, there are several private accommodations available. If you love relaxation, we recommend visiting the nearby Duchonka recreation area. Plenty of pleasant cottages are waiting just for your visit.
