Where to go on a trip Biele Karpaty

Kúpalisko Trenčín

Kúpalisko Trenčín

Trenčín

The district town of Trenčín is famous mainly for its rich history associated with Trenčiansky hrad (Trenčín Castle). In the summer season, however, it can also delight visitors to the region with the opportunity to cool their sun-scorched bodies in the refreshing bath of the municipal Kúpalisko Trenčín (Trenčín Swimming Pool).

Kúpalisko Trenčín, also known as the Letné kúpalisko na Ostrove (Summer Swimming Pool on the Island) in Trenčín, is situated on an island located in the middle of the Váh river. You can use its premises mainly during the summer months, from June to August. You can get here by car, bicycle, or on foot via the bridge over the Kočkovský kanál (Kočkovský Canal). The walk from the railway station takes approximately 15 minutes. Before entering the swimming pool area, there is a free parking lot and bicycle racks.

This swimming pool belongs among the largest and best-equipped swimming pools not only in the region but also in Slovakia. You will find a total of 4 pools here. The swimming pool is 25 m long and 17 m wide, with a minimum depth of 1.30 m and a maximum of 2.10 m. Diving boards allow for organizing swimming races in six swimming lanes. The children's pool has an atypical irregular shape. The largest area is occupied by an unusual irregular recreational non-swimmer pool with a depth of 1.10 m. In the pool, there are water mushrooms, fountains, and massage jets. The fourth pool is a landing-recreational non-swimmer pool. It serves as a landing area for 4 water slides. Do not worry, the water temperature in the pools is adapted to the outdoor weather and ranges from 26 – 28 °C.

The swimming pool is popular with all age groups. The little ones have a playground at their disposal with various swings and climbing frames. You can play beach volleyball with friends on a sandy beach court. The offer of sports activities is complemented by several ping-pong tables. Not only the young generation will appreciate the internet connection via a free WiFi network. The range of services is also expanded by security lockers for storing valuables. Fast food and beverage establishments, changing rooms, social facilities, and showers are a matter of course.

If you get tired of lounging on a blanket or sun loungers with umbrellas, you can explore the many attractions of Trenčín and its surroundings. Among the most sought-after ones is undoubtedly Trenčiansky hrad (Trenčín Castle), the Fontána vodníka Valentína (Waterman Valentín Fountain) on Štúrovo námestie (Štúr Square), or the Mestská veža (Town Tower). From the latter, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city. Those who love spending time in nature can discover the beautiful corners of the local Lesopark Brezina (Brezina Forest Park) and stop along the way at the ancient Roman inscription on the Trenčianska skala (Trenčín Rock).

Does it seem like too much for one day? It does not matter. You can extend your stay in Trenčín and sleep in one of our recommended accommodation facilities. Be sure to check out the affordable penzióny v Trenčíne (guest houses in Trenčín) or cozy apartmány Trenčín (Trenčín apartments). We will leave the choice to you!

Festival Pohoda

Festival Pohoda

Trenčín

Festival Pohoda in Trenčín is the largest and most prestigious multi-genre festival in Slovakia, which annually transforms the local airport into a vibrant European center of music, art, and freedom.

The event takes place during the second weekend of July in the city of Trenčín, in the Trenčín district, on the expansive premises of the Trenčín airport. The dramaturgy of Pohoda is unique in its diversity, where stars of world rock, pop, and electronic music alternate on a single stage with classical music, jazz, or world music. The festival grounds function as a temporary city with a high standard of services, where, in addition to dozens of music stages, you will find literature tents, discussion forums, theatrical performances, and dance workshops. Great emphasis is placed on ecology, as evidenced by a sophisticated recycling system, the use of solar energy, and the support of public transport through special festival trains. Pohoda is also known for its visual design, where art installations and land-art objects complete the aesthetics of the airport area. The family character of the event is underscored by a children's park and the barrier-free nature of the entire area, which allows for the participation of all generations without distinction. Thanks to its location in the Považie region and its strong international reputation, the festival has become an important point on the cultural map of Europe, while still maintaining its original vision of decency and the joy of meeting.

What can you find here?

On the airport grounds, you will find several large-capacity stages, a circus tent for alternative genres, and quiet zones for discussions and readings. Extensive tent towns, hot water showers, numerous beverage centers, and a wide gastro zone with food for vegetarians and vegans are available. Also included are children's corners, charging stations, Wi-Fi zones, and spaces designated for non-profit organizations and civic activism.

Who is this place suitable for?

The festival is ideal for music lovers of all genres, families with children, and young people looking for cultural enrichment in a safe and clean environment. It is also sought after by fans of art and social sciences due to the rich accompanying program and discussions on current topics. Given the vastness of the area and summer temperatures, comfortable footwear, headwear, and consistent hydration are recommended.

What can you visit in the surrounding area?

Directly in the city of Trenčín, you can visit the majestic Trenčiansky hrad castle with a view of the entire Považie region or the historic square with a Roman inscription. For relaxation after the festival, the spa town of Trenčianske Teplice with its unique architecture of spa houses is within accessible distance. If you are looking for nature, the nearby Biele Karpaty mountains offer opportunities for hiking, for example, to the ruins of Vršatec castle.

Kunovská priehrada

Kunovská priehrada

Senica

The Kunov city district of Senica hides a true gem for vacationers to spend their leisure time. It is the Kunovská priehrada reservoir, whose water is suitable for swimming, water sports, and fishing. It is located on the foothills of the Biele Karpaty mountains, which is why the location is also sought after by tourists. However, most often you will meet families with children, groups of friends, or seniors around the reservoir, who head here for active and passive relaxation.

The total area of Kunovská priehrada is 65 ha, so it is not among the smallest. Its depth reaches 2 to 8.5 m. The surroundings are grass-covered and offer an ideal space for, for example, a family picnic. Even if you do not want to go into the water, take at least a book and read it just like that, lying on a blanket. It is the magical power of nature that will recharge your internal batteries.

You can reach Kunovská priehrada from the city very comfortably by bicycle or roller skates. A path set in beautiful nature, leading along the Teplica stream, will serve you for this purpose. Access is also possible on foot or by car, of course, and you do not have to worry about a parking space at all. 300 parking spaces are available to you all year round. When you get to it, you will find yourself in a truly spacious and equipped recreational area.

Changing rooms, social facilities, and, during the summer season, refreshments are waiting for you here. Given that you can also perform various water sports on the reservoir, you will find a boathouse here, where you can also rent a boat or a pedal boat directly. Active individuals will appreciate the volleyball and tennis court, minigolf, Russian skittles, or giant chess. The little ones were also kept in mind; the playground offers sandboxes, swings, and climbing frames.

From the activities in the vicinity, we recommend a walk along the Náučný chodník Senica – Kunovská priehrada (Senica – Kunovská priehrada Educational Trail), which has a total length of 5 km. It will take you approximately 90 minutes, and from the built-in information boards, you will learn interesting facts about preserved original habitats, fauna, flora, and nature conservation. There are several benches on the route where you can rest. In order for you to be able to complete all this and also visit other attractions in Senica and its surroundings, book accommodation near Kunovská priehrada, for example, directly from some of the accommodation Senica page. Do not forget to take your family or friends too; you will experience much more fun and adventures that way.
