Rozhľadňa Háj
The Rozhľadňa na vrchu Háj lookout tower near Nová Baňa represents an architectural gem made of stone and wood, offering visitors breathtaking panoramic views of the central Pohronie region.
The location is situated on top of the Háj hill in the cadastral area of the town of Nová Baňa, in the Žarnovica district. The lookout tower was solemnly opened in 2017 and reaches a height of approximately 21 meters, built on the site of a former andesite quarry. The structure features three observation levels, and its design, combining natural stone at the bottom with a wooden frame on the upper floors, is inspired by mining headframes. From the highest level, a 360-degree view opens up to the Novobanská kotlina basin, the ridges of Štiavnické vrchy, Vtáčnik, and, under good visibility conditions, even the distant peaks of Nízke Tatry. A marked educational trail leads directly from the town to the lookout tower, passing through picturesque meadows and forested stretches, with the route lined with information boards about the region's geology and history. The entire area is accessible year-round and, thanks to its position above the town, is a popular spot for watching sunsets as well as the night sky.

In the area, you will find the stepped lookout tower itself with orientation maps on the viewing platforms that facilitate the identification of surrounding peaks. Beneath the lookout tower, there is a tourist shelter with benches and tables for resting, a public fire pit, and information panels for the Náučný chodník Zvonička educational trail. In the immediate vicinity, you can also admire the remains of old quarries where stone was historically quarried to produce millstones.
