Lyžiarske stredisko Medvedie

Medvedie

If you are planning a weekend trip during which it is possible to observe the landscape under a continuous blanket of snow, we recommend visiting the picturesque village of Medvedie. The village is located in the Stará Ľubovňa / Svidník District, in the northern part of Nízke Beskydy, right on the border with Poland. In the winter season, you have a unique opportunity here to use the slopes of Lyžiarske stredisko Medvedie.

Lyžiarske stredisko Medvedie can be categorized as a family-type resort. This resort operates only during favorable weather and snow conditions. It is open on all days off, public holidays, school holidays, and during ski courses. Great advantages of this resort include its excellent accessibility for visitors from surrounding villages and natural snow, which is truly abundant in this location. On the groomed ski trails, you can ski throughout the entire day. In exceptional cases, evening skiing is also offered. There are a total of 3 ski lifts available, with lengths of 200, 400, and 600 m. The smallest one is intended for children. The total elevation gain of the longest lift reaches up to 130 m.

Thanks to the advantageous location of this ski resort, it is mostly sought after by families with children. You will experience a great, relaxing ski trip here without having to conquer long and steep slopes. After a super ski session, you can relax on wooden benches. Perhaps a bit tired, you can take small snacks out of your backpack and supply your body with extra energy. If you do not prepare for such an option, you don't have to worry at all. The friendly and helpful staff in the small snack bar will be happy to prepare hot drinks or a small bite to eat for you. In case of greater hunger, you can use the services of the neighboring guesthouse, which houses a restaurant. The friendly and helpful staff at the smaller local rental shop will gladly rent you skis or sleds "for a song". The resort also does not lack a large free parking lot where you can park your car. Dry toilets for visitors are a matter of course.

The Šariš region is sought after by all types of visitors. After an actively spent day on the slopes of the ski resort, you can head to various interesting attractions in Medvedie. A walk through the surrounding nature can lead you to Drevený kostolík v Korejovciach or Drevený kostolík v Hunkovciach. You surely also remember Dukliansky priesmyk from school, which is very often referred to as the "Valley of Death". You can experience this chilling atmosphere when visiting the pass and Pamätník na Dukle. A little further away, in the town of Stropkov, there is a zoo called ZOO Park Stropkov. If you feel cold and would like to warm up while boosting your artistic spirit, head to Múzeum moderného umenia Andyho Warhola v Medzilaborciach.

Teaching your children to ski will take more than a single day. We therefore recommend booking accommodation near Lyžiarske stredisko Medvedie. Perhaps the nearby cottages and challets Medvedie will appeal to you, offering absolute privacy. Those clients who enjoy getting to know their neighbors and desire an action-packed evening program can use the services of guesthouses in Medvedie. We will be happy to help you select accommodation according to your criteria.

Makovica

Makovica

Nižná Polianka

The resort Makovica, popular among skiers, is located halfway between Bardejov and Svidník, in the village of Nižná Polianka. The area, suitable especially for more experienced skiers, sports enthusiasts, and snowboard owners, can be found in northeastern Slovakia, not far from the state border with Poland. The slope is situated about 1 km from the village center. The location and careful maintenance provide excellent conditions for snow and terrain. The bravest individuals can combine their skiing with ice bathing in the pool.

In the ski resort, a medium-difficulty slope with a length of approximately 900 m and an elevation gain of 186 m awaits you. The slope boasts an attractive profile, regular maintenance, and artificial snowmaking. Transport for skiers is provided by one ski lift, which will take you up to the start of the run in about 3 minutes. The western orientation of the hill guarantees pleasant sunshine all day long in favorable weather. The slope is illuminated, creating ideal conditions for popular evening skiing.

You will need much more courage for ice bathing in the pool located directly in the resort than for descending the red slope. However, if you prefer warm tea to an ice bath after skiing, visit the local snack bar. In addition to a pleasant, informal environment, you will also find delicious home cooking here. The resort boasts excellent accessibility and free, convenient parking near the slope. Ski pass prices will certainly please you compared to large ski parks.

You can combine skiing in the Šariš region with a visit to Bardejovské Kúpele, a tour of the Bazilika sv. Egídia, or a trip into the past at the Vojenské historické múzeum. You will find many more cultural and historical sights in the surrounding areas. Thus, you can always enhance your day on the slope by visiting another attractive place. However, do not forget to book your accommodation near the Makovica resort. We recommend choosing from the range of accommodation in Bardejov on our portal. You will surely find a cottage here tailored for a perfect winter stay.
