Zoologická záhrada Malkia Park
Malkia Park in Orechová Potôň is a unique place that opened its gates to the public on June 4, 2016. Orechová Potôň is a village in the Dunajská Streda district. The park is primarily home to large felines that were abused or unwanted, but other animal species have gradually been added as well. Many animals that were already born in captivity and thus would unfortunately not survive in the wild have found their sanctuary here. While they do not get freedom, they receive a lot of love and the necessary care.
The ZOO got its name from the first animal rescued by the zookeepers and founders of the park. It was the lioness Malkia. Her name means "queen" in the Swahili language, and perhaps that is why locals sometimes call Malkia Park the "royal park". Malkia Park is home to many impressive felines, but you will also find zebras, camels, donkeys, goats, sheep, llamas, gibbons, capuchins, lemurs, tortoises, meerkats, parrots, and waterfowl. Most of our charges have a story. Many are strong, and perhaps you will hold back tears at some of them, but each of them ultimately ended happily.
The ZOO offers not only a classic visit but also organizes experiential or weekend stays. You can become an animal keeper for a day. You will look at the operation of the ZOO from another perspective and understand how much love zookeepers must have within themselves to make the animals in the ZOO happy and content. Malkia Park thinks primarily of the youngest ones. How about preparing an unforgettable birthday celebration for them right in the ZOO? Thematic decoration, plenty of fun, and interesting facts about animals are a great birthday gift in themselves.
Malkia Park even offers the opportunity to become an adoptive parent of one of the animals. The animal you adopt in this way will receive exemplary care for all your financial contributions. As a "parent", you will receive an adoption certificate, free entry to the park, and a small token of appreciation. In addition, you can participate in a special tour designated for adoptive parents. Of course, your name will be included on a wooden plaque placed directly at the enclosure of "your" animal. Once the adoption period expires, the ZOO will give you the plaque as a souvenir.
For the youngest visitors, there is also a children's playground and a children's world in the park to entertain them in case of inclement weather. You can also leave the park with a nice souvenir from the gift shop. There is also a bistro located within the premises.
A visit to Malkia Park will tug at your heartstrings. Whether you are big or small, the touching stories and the strong mission of the park, which decided to rescue suffering animals, will leave an emotion in you. The fact that someone helps those who cannot help themselves is simply admirable. If you have decided to visit, we recommend booking accommodation near Malkia Park.
