Divadlo u Greškov is the result of an effort by a famous Slovak footballer to develop and raise cultural awareness in his birthplace. Yes, we are talking about Vratislav Greško. In his native village of Tajov, located in the Banská Bystrica district, the successful defender established a venue for organizing theatrical performances and film screenings. He did so in an interesting historical building breathing a unique atmosphere. The premises now serve the cultural and social enjoyment of locals and visitors to the Horehronie region. During your stay in Tajov, you should definitely not miss a visit.
The history of the building in which Divadlo u Greškov found its home dates back to 1901. At that time, the parish priest Juraj Ohrivala founded the Potravinový spolok (Food Association) here, aimed at supplying food to the inhabitants of the entire Tajovská dolina. Over time, the facility was renovated and expanded to include a theater and a cinema. By 2002, the historical building had fallen into disrepair, and a complete reconstruction was needed to restore it. The renovation took place until 2006, resulting in a facility with wide possibilities for cultural and social use.
Upon entering the building steeped in history, you will be welcomed by the cozy spaces of the pub. Here you can enjoy a pleasant sit-down with friends or family, savor your favorite drink, and feel the atmosphere of the uniquely designed space. The cultural part of the facility consists of Divadlo u Greškov itself, featuring a multifunctional space for staging theatrical performances and film screenings. The atmosphere is enhanced by the cabaret-style seating arrangement, which also creates an opportunity for hosting weddings or family celebrations.
