Lyžiarske stredisko Pezinská Baba
Do you think skiing is only possible somewhere in northern Slovakia or in high mountain ranges? In that case, you are mistaken, you can experience high-quality skiing even somewhere you wouldn't expect. For example, near Bratislava, near Pezinok.
The small town on the edge of the Malé Karpaty mountains is known to everyone. If you head deeper into the mountains, you will find beautiful natural scenery, peace in quiet forests, as well as a first-rate ski resort. It is Pezinská Baba, located right on the ridge of the Malé Karpaty, just a short distance from Pezinok. You will come across it if you take the road toward Malacky. Here you can park comfortably; the parking lot has a capacity of up to 400 parking spaces. Given that it is a smaller ski resort, this capacity is more than sufficient.
Pezinská Baba is known and popular primarily among inhabitants of the western part of our country. Nevertheless, skiers from the wider surroundings should pay attention to it as well. At Baba, you will find everything: perfect services and slopes of all difficulty levels.
There are 5 lifts in the resort, guaranteeing smooth transport and short queues. The total length of the slopes is up to 3.5 km, which is a relatively high number considering the low altitude of the Malé Karpaty mountain range. You will find here not only a short blue slope for beginners and children, but also the pride of the resort: an approximately 1 km long slope on which you will experience all levels of skiing difficulty. At first, you will go through a short medium-difficulty section. The slope continues with a gentle slope, and the final section is the steepest, black. If you do not dare to attempt it, you can bypass this steep section via a gentle part.
Despite its low altitude of only 595 meters above sea level, Pezinská Baba has sufficient snow conditions, primarily thanks to a modern artificial snowmaking system. If you cannot get enough of the slopes of Pezinská Baba, do not despair. The resort has prepared the option of evening skiing on an illuminated slope for you.
The immediate surroundings of the resort offer plenty of trails suitable for winter hiking or ski-touring trips. The beautiful environment directly pulls you outside for wanderings around the area. Cross-country skiers will also find plenty to enjoy here. Well-groomed trails with lengths of 1.2 and 5 km await them. That is a sufficient offer even for more demanding visitors. Did you come to relax with children? In that case, you will certainly be pleased by the presence of a sledding track.
In the ski resort, you will be interested not only in the well-groomed slopes, but also in the relatively low and affordable prices. In addition, a rental shop and ski equipment service await you, so you do not have to bring anything with you at all. Naturally, a ski and snowboard school or a snowpark for adrenaline lovers are available. You will be able to refresh yourself not only at the snack bar, but also in nearby restaurants. After a good skiing session, you can pop into one of the pleasant wine cellars. The Pezinok region is famous for quality wine, and tasting in a pleasant atmosphere is the best way to enjoy this precious beverage. In Pezinok or nearby Modra, you will also enjoy plenty of nightlife, discos, and fun. Just don't overdo it, because the next day Pezinská Baba will be waiting for you again.
Below the ridge of the Malé Karpaty, near Pezinská Baba, you will find plenty of accommodation capacity. Mountain hotels are popular, as well as cottages with a typical winter atmosphere. Crackling wood in the fireplace will add just the right spark to an ordinary get-together with friends. In addition, you will also be able to choose from affordable guesthouses and private accommodation in nearby villages. Even though Pezinská Baba does not offer the largest resort, you will find slopes for casual skiers here that will certainly entertain. An acceptable slope length, plenty of lifts, quality services, and pleasant prices are the main reasons to go skiing at Pezinská Baba this winter.
