Vodopád pod Orlovou

Pohorelá

"Where water falls from the rock" is an expressive and common local name for Vodopád pod Orlovou. The waterfall has a height of 5 m and is fed by the Kopanica stream. It lies at an altitude of 1,165 m above sea level, beneath Orlová, a majestic Low Tatras peak. Although it is not among the most famous waterfalls, it is extraordinarily impressive, especially during periods of its peak flow. When you are near the village of Pohorelá, be sure to take a trip to see it.

A path along a circular hiking trail from the aforementioned village of Pohorelá leads to it year-round. It is not a demanding hike at all, and no extra special physical fitness is required. Families with children and seniors can easily handle it. A great benefit of the trail is the surrounding area through which you pass. Along the way, wonderful views open up to you, namely of the peaks of the Nízke Tatry mountains, Muránska planina, and the Hron valley.

The surroundings of the waterfall are beautiful. Rocks, greenery, and trees are everywhere. Added to that are the sounds of falling water and a gurgling stream, just like in a fairytale. While walking, look not only around you but also beneath your feet. You might notice tree roots and mushrooms, as well as vipers, especially during the warm season. Locals will also warn you about bears, so it is good to keep that in mind and make "natural noise" in the forest.

During your wanderings through the nature of the Nízke Tatry mountains, we definitely recommend stopping at this lovely spot. It is advisable to book accommodation near Vodopád pod Orlovou, ideally on the page accommodation in Pohorelá. And bring your family or friends along too. Nature itself is beautiful, but in good company, staying in it takes on a completely different dimension.

Nálepkove vodopády

Nálepkove vodopády

Mlynky

Nálepkove vodopády represent a system of waterfalls in Zejmarská roklina gorge in the southern part of Slovenský raj. The waterfall system is about 22 meters high, with the tallest of them estimated at 6 meters. The beauty of Nálepkovy vodopády stands out most during the spring thaw or after heavy rains. In winter, on the other hand, the waterfalls freeze, creating beautiful icefalls.

Zejmarská roklina, with a length of 800 meters, is the shortest gorge in Slovenský raj, but at the same time, it is one of the most beautiful and less demanding to cross. Nevertheless, you need to account for everything typical of this area, metal footpegs, ladders, and wooden bridges. Zejmarská roklina and the waterfalls are part of the circular educational trail NCH Slovenský raj. The trail starts in the village of Dedinky, is almost 10 km long, and the walk takes approximately 3 hours. It is recommended to complete the route only in dry weather.

Nálepkovy vodopády are named after Captain Ján Nálepka, a hero of World War II, who worked as a teacher in the village of Mlynky - Biele Vody before the war. He sympathized with Masaryk's ideas; in 1939, he was first demobilized, later recalled to the army, and sent to the Russian front. There he participated in anti-partisan operations. In reality, however, Nálepka cooperated with the partisans under the code name Repkin, supplying them with information and reporting fictitious numbers of killed insurgents to the Germans. Eventually, with part of his regiment, he defected to the partisans under the leadership of General Saburov. In May 1943, the 1st Czecho-Slovak Partisan Unit in the USSR was formed this way.

If you stay in this area, we also recommend visiting other tourist destinations. The location can boast other waterfalls such as Korytový, Skalný, or Závojový. Medvedia jaskyňa cave or Dobšinská ľadová jaskyňa ice cave may also catch your interest. The Palcmanská Maša water reservoir is made for summer recreation, while in winter, fun is provided by the ski resorts Mlynky - Biele Vody, Kruhová - Gugeľ, or Dedinky

If you decide on accommodation near Nálepkovy vodopády, you will certainly have plenty to choose from. In Mlynky, you can look for apartments, guest houses, and cottages. There is also a good selection in the village of Dedinky, where cottages and chalets are the most widespread. You can also try your luck in Dobšiná.
