Múzeum Juraja Jánošíka belongs to Považské múzeum v Žiline museum. Its permanent exhibition titled Jánošík a Terchová is dedicated to the national hero Juraj Jánošík and ancient life in the village of Terchová. It is divided into several thematic sections. Photocopied historical documents, historical photographs, and documents describing significant events from the hero's life, highway robbery, and execution will guide you through his life. Among the most attractive exhibits is undoubtedly a beautiful oil painting by Ľudovít Fulla.

In other parts of the exhibition, you will find artifacts and period objects from traditional Terchová wooden houses, through which you will learn not only about folk architecture, but also about the way of life of the people of Terchová in times long past. The exhibits here reveal more about their home textile production, sheep farming, field work, as well as traditional customs and folklore. After all, who wouldn't know the famous Terchovská muzika music? This cultural treasure of Terchová has been listed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2013.

Kysucké múzeum Čadca

Čadca

One of the youngest museums in Slovakia is the Kysucké múzeum. This regional local history museum focuses on documenting the development of nature and society (from the first traces of settlement to the present), science and technology, culture, and art in the Kysuce region. The museum as a whole consists of 5 exhibitions – including the premises of Múzeum Čadca on Moyzesova Street. You can visit Múzeum kysuckej dediny in Vychylovka and learn about the lifestyle of the local people in this permanent open-air exhibition. Part of the open-air museum is also the unique Historická lesná úvraťová železnica, which promises an amazing experience during a ride on the small train. Kaštieľ Radoľa, the only preserved noble residence in Kysuce presenting Meštianske bývanie na Kysuciach, is also worth a visit. You can transport yourself to times past, though not so distant, at Vlastivedné múzeum v Krásne nad Kysucou in the exhibition Socialistické Kysuce or takto sme žili. The biggest attraction of Vlastivedné múzeum, especially for the youngest visitors, is the life-size mammoth replica.

Múzeum Čadca offers you a modern smart exhibition Dejiny Čadce a okolia. The exhibition is thematically divided into five parts: História Čadce a okolitých obcí, Horelický poklad, Osobnosti mesta, Židovská komunita v Čadci, and Priemysel a hospodárstvo. Visitors have the opportunity to admire many physically displayed collection items, which are appropriately complemented by modern elements, touchscreens with a rich content of documentary materials, photographs, or postcards in the form of an interactive table and two infokiosks dedicated to prominent personalities. Among the most precious artifacts of the exhibition is undoubtedly a representative selection of 250 historical coins from the so-called Horelický poklad and rare judaica reflecting the life and religion of the once numerous Jewish community in Čadca. In the final part of the exhibition, visitors can sit down and watch short documentary videos and photographs capturing the socialist era and the existence of large manufacturing plants such as Tatra or Okrasa.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, Múzeum Čadca also offers changing exhibitions focused primarily on child visitors. Companion activities in the form of creative workshops are prepared for each exhibition.
