Drienica –
Skiing in northeastern Slovakia is quite unusual. The local mountains do not reach the highest altitudes, yet you will still find several interesting ski resorts here. One of them is definitely worth a visit: the Ski Drienica ski resort. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the village of the same name, Drienica. Have you not heard of it yet? Never mind. You can find it a few dozen kilometers north of Prešov, near the town of Sabinov. In the entire area, it is one of the very best ski resorts.
The nearby smaller mountains are exceptionally popular among beginner skiers. In summer, hikers who love exploring unknown and hitherto little-known places will come into their own. Likewise, Ski Drienica is suitable for those skiers who want to get far away from the daily hustle and bustle and recharge their batteries. Trust us, you will definitely find what you are looking for in Drienica.
You will not find too many ski resorts in the Šariš region, so rest assured that Drienica ranks among the best. Its slopes span an altitude of 553 to 733 meters above sea level. The top of the ski lifts is on Háj hill, giving you a view of the entire resort right beneath your feet. Four slopes suitable for whole families are at your disposal, where truly anyone can learn to ski.
Two of the slopes feature shorter red sections, which are intended for intermediate skiers and ideal for a more sporty ride. The remaining parts of the ski resort will be welcomed primarily by beginners, as all other trails feature the lowest difficulty level and are marked in blue.
Four ski lifts ensure that you do not spend your time waiting in long lines. One of them is quite short, suitable for the youngest and novice skiers. The total length of the slopes in the resort is approximately 2.5 km. A large portion of the total length consists of two main slopes, each measuring exactly 1,000 meters. These are no short little hills, but real, full-sized slopes.
Among the additional services, you will find a ski equipment rental shop, a ski school, and numerous refreshment options. There is a stylish restaurant as well as snack bars where you can simply warm up with a hot tea in hand. For persistent skiers, the local slope is at your service even after dark. You can enjoy first-class night skiing on the 1-kilometer track. If you bring cross-country skis with you, you will certainly make use of them. Up to 5 km of groomed cross-country trails are located in the vicinity of the slopes.
Despite the fact that the northeastern part of Slovakia is not the most sought-after tourist area, you will find more than enough accommodation options in Drienica. Cozy guesthouses lie right below the slope, and hotel accommodation is also a welcome option. Numerous chalets are an excellent choice. Drienica is also a recreational area, so there is no shortage of various chalets here. All you need to do is pack, wax your skis, and look forward to a perfect skiing trip waiting for you in this charming region.
