Slnečné jazerá Senec

Slnečné jazerá Senec

Senec

Slnečné jazerá (Sun Lakes) or Senecké jazerá are among the most visited recreation centers in Slovakia. We can find them in the town of Senec. Every year, this location is visited by many families with children, young active holidaymakers, and seniors. The advantage is the low entrance fee, the option to purchase a seasonal pass, and a number of attractions in the area. Slnečné jazerá in Senec are also popular among fishermen, who can pursue their hobby here without any worries.

The lakes were artificially created in 1845, when five separate lakes were formed after gravel dredging. These later merged into one water area with an area of 120 hectares and a depth of up to 12 meters. Since 1919, the place began to be used as a natural swimming area. At that time, it was also known by the name Slovenské Tahiti (Slovak Tahiti).

Today, the resort is divided into three zones - northern, southern, and eastern. The northern side is especially suitable for families with children, as there is an Aquathermal Senec water park with water attractions and a playground for children. However, you will find various attractions for active holidaymakers in every part. You will appreciate the beach volleyball courts, football fields, and tennis courts.

Water sports are a matter of course here. You can practice Zumba and yoga, or explore the surroundings faster on scooters, which you can rent. During the summer, various musical events held directly on the premises are also very popular.

You don't have to go far for other points of interest. Visit Včelársky skanzen (Beekeeping Open-air Museum), Oáza sibírskeho tigra (Siberian Tiger Oasis) in Kostolná pri Dunaji, enjoy adventure flights from Kráľová pri Senci, or an adrenaline rafting trip on the Malý Dunaj river. Book your accommodation at Slnečné jazerá Senec and plan a holiday packed with experiences!

Včelársky skanzen

Včelársky skanzen

Kráľová pri Senci

Včelársky skanzen (also known as a museum or apiary clearing), situated in a beautiful English park in the village of Kráľová pri Senci, ranks among the largest beekeeping open-air museums in Central Europe. It is a significant collection of valuable information about the life and functioning of bees. You can even see with your own eyes an original thousand-year-old bee used in a film by Juraj Jakubiska.

This small bee kingdom, as the locals fondly call it, was founded in 1930. At that time, it originally served as a vocational school for future beekeepers. In 1932, the apiary clearing was handed over to the Regional Headquarters of Beekeeping Associations in Slovakia, and gradually, from 1961 onwards, the construction of the beekeeping open-air museum began. Its gates were opened to the public in 1975. Today, this unique beekeeping museum offers you displays of truly unique hive collections. It gathers unique materials about the development of beekeeping, how we as humanity can use it in various areas of our lives, and last but not least, about honey production.

During the tour, Včelárska paseka will also give you an answer to why a human could not survive without bees. You will learn that bees have been on Earth for more than 150 million years, and of course, the secret of their precious products. Whether it is liquid gold, as honey is popularly called, propolis, royal jelly, pollen, or last but not least, wax.

The museum features more than 300 exhibits, each of which can tell its own story. Some of the exhibited hives were even used as early as the 17th century. Located here is a large apiary building where honey extractors, comb foundation presses, and various tools and supplies of beekeepers mapping the development of beekeeping in Slovakia are exhibited.

You will leave Včelárska paseka truly enriched. With new information, experiences, inner gratitude toward the little bees and their tireless work, and last but not least, perhaps also with purchased genuine bee products. If you also want to participate in one of the events held here, we recommend booking accommodation in Senec and its surroundings so that you can also visit other attractions that the surroundings of the open-air museum and Senec offer.

Golf Borša

Golf Borša

Hrubá Borša

Golf is one of the most widespread sports of today. This is also evidenced by the increasing number of quality golf courses across all of Slovakia. You can find an exceptionally popular golf complex in the village of Hrubá Borša, in the Senec district. Golf Borša offers an exclusive 18-hole championship course suitable for golfers of all levels and a 9-hole public course. A covered driving range building is also available, allowing you to practice your swing in any weather. A particularly pleasant part of the golf complex is a restaurant with a summer terrace located directly on the lake. You can reward yourself for a successful game with a delicious specialty from the local menu.

The greatest attraction of the golf complex is undoubtedly its championship course. It comes from the workshop of architect Martin Munka, who designed it in cooperation with Dávid Záleský. The golfing environment here is created by the southern Slovak plain interspersed with white sand bunkers and water surfaces. The pleasant atmosphere of the course is enhanced by a floodplain forest where 8 holes are placed. Up to half of the fairways touch the water surface, including an island green. Landing zones with a width of 70–80 m were built following the model of American courses. The course consists of black, white, yellow, blue, and red tees. The area is therefore suitable for both professionals and less experienced players. Top-quality grass is a matter of course here.

If you do not feel ready for the course of golf champions yet, in Hrubá Borša they also have a smaller public course prepared for you, suitable for playing short distances. Here you can practice and test your knowledge of the rules of golf. Your game will be varied by a large lake and numerous sand bunkers. Weather will not ruin your visit to this golf paradise either. You can practice your drive in the covered driving range building, which features 17 illuminated bays with artificial mats.

The rich range of services at the golf complex also includes a professional golf shop. On a retail area of 320 m2, you will find everything you need for this sport, including complete beginner golf sets. If you want to relax comfortably and enjoy a good meal after a challenging match on the golf course, we definitely recommend visiting the local restaurant. The modern design of the interior and the summer terrace combined with quality international cuisine guarantee a perfect gourmet experience. The cuisine's domain is local ingredients, including meat from surrounding farms, fish from local ponds, and baked goods from nearby bakeries. Directly within the golf complex, they will also take care of your car. The services include EV charging and car washing.

You can enhance a day spent on the golf course in this region by visiting Oáza sibírskeho tigra, relaxing on the shores of Slnečné jazerá, or enjoying a canoeing trip down Malý Dunaj. We also highly recommend a water adventure at Aquathermal Senec water park and a trip to the unique Malkia Park in Orechová Potôň. To manage to enjoy all these great experiences, book accommodation near the Golf Borša complex. If the selection of accommodation in Hrubá Borša does not meet all your expectations, choose accommodation in Senec. The exceptionally popular Senec chalets will certainly not disappoint you.

Hrad Čeklís

Hrad Čeklís

Bernolákovo

The sad reality of today is that the once-glorious castles on our territory have turned into ruins. These are sought after primarily by avid hikers who crave stunning views and relaxation in nature. The ruin of castle Čeklís, located on the edge of the village of Bernolákovo, is one of them. Here, you can enjoy a view of the Podunajskú nížinu plain, Bratislavu, and Bratislavský castle.

The village of Bernolákovo is one of the relatively large villages located in the Senec district. During your visit, you will certainly notice its landmark: the Roman Catholic kostol sv. Štefana Kráľa church from 1355 and the adjacent kaplnku sv. Anny chapel from 1835. On the elevated terraced hilltop known as Várdomb (Hradný vrch), the hrad Čeklís castle is situated. In written records, it is also mentioned as Ceki, Chekluez, Cheklys, or Chekles.

Getting to this castle is manageable for everyone. The hike to this publicly accessible ruin is easy and will take you less than 10 minutes on foot. Simply park your car by the church and follow the dirt path alongside it directly to your destination. From a distance, you will see the silhouette of a tower emerging from the castle, although it is not part of the original structure.

The castle was likely built in the 13th century as a guard castle. The first reference to it dates back to 1209 as the old settlement of Šebeš, the royal cellar administrator. Many owners are mentioned in the castle’s history, including Charles Robert, Sigismund of Luxembourg, and the Eszterházy family. Unfortunately, the castle fell into ruin during Rákóczi's War of Independence. In 1720, a Baroque manor house was built near the castle. Today, only a fragment of a 1.9 m thick curtain wall remains. A sharp-eyed observer may also notice a vaulted discharge arch with a span of 5 m. The castle was reportedly protected by a moat as well. The round waterworks tower, which fits into the stylized scenery, might also help draw tourists here. This was built in 1905 on the remnants of a Baroque brick cistern.

Two legends are associated with the castle. The first tells the story of the beautiful Helena of Čeklís, who intoxicated the Turkish Grand Vizier with her wine and fled to svätojurský hrad castle before the Turkish invasion. She also wanted to trick the enemy by shoeing her horses backwards. As a result, the soldiers remained confused and, in their helplessness and rage, burned the castle down. The second legend, about the candles of Čeklís, might be told to you by the locals.

You can stay in the region for a longer period to explore all the points of interest beyond the traces of history. Golf lovers and sports enthusiasts can visit the largest golf resort with 55 greens, Black River Golf Resort Bratislava. It is located directly in this village, offering a great way to diversify your daily itinerary. Anglers choose the jazero Miloslavka lake as their place of relaxation. A walk through a landscape English park also has its charm; you can experience one at Kaštieli Eberhard in Malinovo. You can go for a swim on hot days at various water areas, with the closest option being Vajnorských jazerách.

You can plan your vacation or stay however you wish. The diverse range of accommodation around hrad Čeklís will certainly surprise you. Our accommodation providers will welcome you even at the last minute and provide you with a place to stay. You can choose from beautiful wooden cabins in Bernolákovo, which are optimal for larger groups, or a comfortable room in guesthouses in Bernolákovo. We will gladly provide you with all available information so you can book the best accommodation.

Miloslavka

Miloslavka

Miloslavov

Miloslavka is a freshwater lake with an area of 7 ha, located in the cadastral area of the village of Miloslavov, in the Senec district. The location is situated only 5 km from Bratislava. The lake was formed around 1970 when Danube gravel deposits were dredged. A new biotope began to develop in the lake after cleanup works between 1995 and 2000. Since 2002, this water body has been used for fishing purposes. The lake received the name Miloslavka only in 2005.

Fishing at Miloslavka is possible from April to October, always only with the manager's knowledge; a telephone booking and reservation of a specific spot according to the lake's fishing plan are recommended. Swimming is not permitted here. We can recommend visiting this location even to groups where not all members are focused on fishing. While the fishermen are pursuing their hobby, others can go swimming to their heart's content at Nové Košariská, which are located less than 5 km away. You can also drop by for a rafting trip on the Malý Dunaj or explore Bratislava, where you will truly find a bit of everything, starting with Bratislavský hrad, through the zoologická záhrada to hrad Devín.

When looking for accommodation near Miloslavka lake, you can start in Rovinka, where you will find private accommodation options. Another option is, for example, the Bratislava city boroughs of Podunajské Biskupice, Vrakuňa, and Ružinov. Bratislava also offers cheap hostels suitable for short stays, for example, even for a single night.

Jazero Nové Košariská

Jazero Nové Košariská

Rovinka

The Nové Košariská I. lake, also called Veľké Košariská or Veľké jazero Rovinka, is located near the villages of Rovinka and Dunajská Lužná, just 3 km from the Podunajské Biskupice district of Bratislava. Other lakes are also located in this area: Malé Košariská (Nové Košariská II.) and Nové Košariská (gravel pit lake). All three were formed as a result of gravel mining.

Veľké Košariská is 870 metres long and 500 metres wide, consisting of two parts separated by a small peninsula. One of the parts is shallower and surrounded by trees. The second part is deep, separated from the shallow area by a gravel drop-off, and is popular with scuba divers, as it reaches a depth of up to 40 metres very close to the shore. Several species of fish live in the lake; common ones include carp and pike, while catfish, zander, and eels are frequently observed, and freshwater jellyfish occur exceptionally in autumn.

Summer attracts vacationers to Košariská who like to refresh themselves in the crystal-clear water, which is nearly drinkable in quality, as proven by repeated official tests. Not all shores of the lake offer equally good access to the water; the best is from the gravel beach located in the eastern part. The more daring and free-spirited can visit the nudist beach. The remaining shores are steep, built up with holiday cottages in some places, and therefore often inaccessible. At the lake, food stands, toilets, and water sports equipment rentals, including pedal boats, are available for visitors. Sun loungers with umbrellas can also be rented here. The most common way to get to the lake is by car; riding a bicycle is not recommended, as there is no cycle path.

If you visit this area, make sure not to limit yourself to swimming and sunbathing by the water. Take a look at Bratislava as well, and discover the history and culture of the capital city. Art lovers are recommended to visit the Danubiana art museum at the Vodné dielo Gabčíkovo dam project. Adrenaline enthusiasts should head to the Areál Divoká voda complex in Čunovo.

Finding accommodation near Nové Košariská will certainly be easy, as it is just a stone's throw from Bratislava, which offers truly all types of accommodation. It depends on whether you prefer peace and quiet, choosing private accommodation on the outskirts of the city, or need all services close by, opting for an apartment in the centre. You can also choose based on your budget; hotels, guesthouses, and low-cost hostels are available.
