Šranecké piesky
In the Záhorie region, between Plavecký Mikuláš and Lakšárska Nová Ves, lies an impressive desert landscape known as Šranecké piesky or the Slovenská púšť (Slovak Desert).
Here, you can enjoy a walk on genuine sand dunes, created by sand blown from the Morava River long ago. Currently, this wind-blown sand area, spanning over 570 square kilometers, is part of the network of protected areas of European significance. At the same time, this territory is located within the Vojenský obvod Záhorie military district, meaning access is permitted only outside the periods of ongoing military exercises.
