The resort's greatest pride is its second-longest slope, where you can try out all possible inclines. It leads through blue, red, and black sections. Its length is an impressive almost 3 km, and riding it in one go requires a dose of strength and skill. Yes, that was only the second-longest slope. The absolute longest one is also suitable for beginners; it has a gentler incline and is up to 4 km long. Some ski resorts do not even reach that length, and here we are still talking about just one slope. Your comfort will be taken care of by 8 lifts and 2 chairlifts.

Pleasant skiing for children and beginner skiers is offered in Liptov by the Komjatná – Studničná ski lift. As its name suggests, the lift is located in the village of Komjatná, lying near the town of Ružomberok. On the slope of the Sivá skala hill, it is operated by the local primary school during weekends in the winter season. If you prefer skiing in the cozy atmosphere of a small Liptov village over crowd-filled skiing in large resorts, you will guaranteed find what you are looking for in Komjatná.

The Komjatná – Studničná lift is 150 m long. In addition to locals, the low-difficulty slope is mainly sought after by families with children and beginner skiers who can develop their skiing skills here without worry. Since this is not a ski resort in the true sense of the word, do not expect any additional services here. However, with your own skis and complete equipment, you will definitely enjoy a good ski session. Naturally, the slope is not covered by artificial snow, and the lift is only in operation under good snow conditions.

Among the main benefits of skiing in Komjatná, alongside the intimate atmosphere, is undoubtedly the picturesque nature. A part of the village, Studničná, lies on the northern edge of the Veľká Fatra mountain range. The slope of Sivá skala offers a unique view of the village in the valley, bordered by tower-like limestone crags.

If you plan to spend your winter holiday or an extended weekend in Liptov, definitely do not miss skiing in Komjatná – Studničná. Podbiel lies on the main road connecting Dolný Kubín with Tvrdošín. A few kilometers before it lies Oravský Podzámok. It is famous mainly for the iconic Oravský hrad, which towers on a high rocky cliff. The village was inhabited mainly by Vlachs (valasi), and the locals were engaged in forestry work. Moreover, you will avoid crowds, parking issues, and other inconveniences associated with visiting larger ski resorts. The top of the resort's slope is at an altitude of 665 meters above sea level. The Podbiel Pod Pálenicou ski resort is not equipped with an artificial snowmaking system, so you will always ski on natural snow here. Since Orava itself is famous for its harsh climatic conditions and severe winters, skiers usually enjoy a generous snowfall. There is one ski lift and one slope suitable for skiers of all levels. Its length is 600 meters. Whole families with children can enjoy skiing on it, as it is of medium difficulty. Furthermore, all skiers will certainly be pleased with the favorable ski pass prices.

If you would like to try other ski resorts besides the one in Podbiel, you do not have to go too far. Popular slopes can be found in Zuberec as well as Brezovica. Both resorts are approximately 10 km from Podbiel, and you will get there literally in a matter of minutes. Podbiel is an extremely attractive village with many points of interest. From a distance, you will spot Červená skala, which dominates the village panorama. A popular destination for hikers is Bielska skala in the forests above the village. In addition, the village houses Františkova huta, an almost 200-year-old building of a former ironworks, and Bobrova raľa. It is the largest complex of preserved folk architecture in Central Europe.

A relatively high elevation gain guarantees quality skiing even for more advanced skiers. Beginners will find plenty to enjoy in the lower part of the resort.

Ski centrum Nižná Uhliská is a balanced ski area where the whole family will find something to enjoy. In other resorts, beginners are confined to the bottom area only. That is also true in Nižná, but it offers even more. You can bypass practically every more demanding slope with an easier alternative. Thanks to this, you will find plenty of blue trails here designed for beginners. Advanced skiers will certainly find plenty to enjoy as well, with a red, medium-difficulty slope of grand proportions prepared for them. It is the longest trail in the resort, reaching a respectable 1,400 meters. For lovers of adrenaline skiing on steep slopes, Nižná offers a black section of trail with a length of almost 700 meters. In total, you will find almost 3.5 km of trails here, which is a respectable number.

Transport in the resort is handled by four ski lifts, which are more than sufficient. Beginner skiers will be taken care of by excellent instructors from the ski school. If you do not bring skis with you, you can easily rent them right on the slope. In the stylish restaurant, you will taste many Orava delicacies. And the most persistent skiers will be overjoyed when the lights turn on in the resort in the evening and they can enjoy an extra portion of night skiing.

Nižná is a sought-after tourist center in winter. In the village, you will find all kinds of accommodation to your taste. Skiing in Orava is synonymous with a successful winter holiday. You will be convinced of this in one of the most popular smaller ski resorts in Slovakia, Ski Zábava – Hruštín. As the name of this ski park suggests, it is located in the village of Hruštín, which belongs to the district of Námestovo. You can enjoy skiing here at an altitude ranging from 900 to 1,150 metres above sea level, indicating excellent snow conditions. Will you accept the invitation? The northern slopes of Oravská Magura are guaranteed to prepare one of the highest quality skiing experiences for you.

The popular ski resort is located approximately 8 km west of the village of Hruštín itself. Winter sports enthusiasts have three ski lifts at their disposal here. For more proficient skiers, there is a 1,000 m long ski lift with a vertical drop of 202 m. It serves three slopes of medium difficulty. The other two lifts are intended mainly for families with children and less experienced skiers. A low-difficulty slope is fully at their disposal in the ski resort.

In addition to groomed slopes with snowmaking capabilities, standard services in Hruštín include a ski service shop, ski rental, and a ski school. In Orava, however, they do not forget about snowboarders either. Snowboard rentals and a snowboard school are available directly at the ski resort. Ružomberok, a town in a beautiful mountain setting nestled between the Chočské vrchy mountains and the Veľká Fatra mountains. It is precisely on the slopes of the Veľká Fatra that Ski Park Ružomberok Malinô Brdo is located, which is among the most popular resorts in Slovakia.

This suburban ski resort, located near the main transport artery connecting the east of Slovakia with the west, spreads out at an altitude of 567 to 1,209 meters above sea level. A relatively large vertical drop promises many slopes aimed at all performance categories.

Ski Park Ružomberok offers up to 12 km of slopes for everyone. Children and beginner skiers will appreciate the lifts on the gentle slope, where they will learn the basics of skiing. There are 4 such lifts in the resort, so you do not have to worry about crowds in lines.

For others, a whole spectrum of intermediate slopes and several black, most demanding sections are intended. This part is served by two ski lifts and a chairlift. A comprehensive artificial snowmaking system is a matter of course in the resort. Thanks to this, you never have to worry about a lack of snow.

Let's get to the most interesting part. The resort can boast one of the longest slopes in Slovakia, a nearly 4 km long slope leading all the way from the peak of Malinô Brdo. It will challenge even more experienced skiers, and riding down it is a real experience. Going skiing in the Tatras does not have to mean only skiing in the Vysoké Tatry. How about heading to the Západné Tatry? These are called Roháče and, just like their more famous sisters, they offer plenty of ski resorts for all skiers.

To enjoy skiing in the Ski centrum Zuberec - Janovky, you will need to visit Orava. The resort lies practically right in Zuberec, which serves as the gateway to the entire Západné Tatry. Every year, Orava is exceptionally rich in snowfall, thanks to which you will find high snowdrifts in Zuberec throughout the entire winter. A severe winter and plenty of snow are the foundation the ski resort builds upon, but for good measure, the entire area is also artificially snowed. It spans an altitude of 750 – 955 meters above sea level. It does not rank among the highest-altitude resorts, which is more of an advantage, as the resort is intended for beginners and intermediate skiers.

There are 4 ski lifts in the resort. Most of the slopes are blue, which represents the easiest difficulty. You do not have to be afraid to hit the blue slope even if you are just starting out with skiing or have small children. If you already have some skiing experience under your belt, you will certainly like the red, medium-difficulty slope.

The Janovky resort boasts a fairly substantial total slope length, reaching up to 4.5 kilometers. You will definitely not get bored. If Janovky still were not enough for you, you can also visit the neighboring ski resort Zuberec - Milotín, where you will find additional interesting slopes. Everyone will surely be pleased that tickets purchased in one resort are also valid in the other.

In Janovky, you will also find well-maintained cross-country skiing trails. The ski resort takes care of maintaining up to 8 kilometers of these tracks. Children will enjoy themselves in the ski school.

The surroundings of Zuberec offer many other leisure opportunities. The most famous ski resort in the area is the nearby Zverovka – Spálená dolina. After a demanding day full of skiing, relaxation in hot thermal water will certainly hit the spot. You can find such water in Oravice, famous for the wonderful thermal aquapark Meander Park. And finally, we must mention winter hiking. With a guide and on snowshoes, you will reach beautiful places you never even knew existed.

Zuberec is the most significant tourist center in the region. You will even find an open-air museum (skanzen) here, which regularly attracts crowds of visitors. Due to the popularity of this village, you do not have to worry about suitable accommodation. Throughout the entire village, there are more than enough guesthouses, modern wellness hotels, as well as simple tourist hostels and affordable private rooms. Let us return to the Kozinec ski resort itself. Its grounds span altitudes between 650 and 995 meters above sea level. While this may not be the highest elevation you will encounter, the favorable climatic conditions of Orava will quickly dispel any concerns. As one of the coldest and most precipitation-rich regions in Slovakia, you need not worry about a lack of snow.

The slopes are regularly groomed, and the resort offers skiing opportunities for all skill levels. Beginners can use the blue slope, the easiest route, which is also the longest run in the resort at approximately 2 km. There are numerous trails available for intermediate skiers, offering a variety of downhill options. Last but not least, there is something for the most experienced skiers as well: the resort features two black-rated slopes that will satisfy even seasoned veterans.

Even though you may not have heard of Ski centrum Kozinec before, it is by no means a small operation. The total length of all ski runs reaches up to 5 kilometers, offering plenty of variety for a full day of skiing for everyone. A pleasant bonus of the resort is its favorable skipass pricing.
