The most experienced skiers will appreciate the presence of the most demanding, black section in the lower part of the resort. Others do not need to worry, as this most strenuous part can be bypassed by two simpler alternatives.

Meander Skipark Oravice extends at an altitude of 785 – 1055 meters above sea level. You will find almost 6 km of ski slopes here, and transport is taken care of by 4 lifts and a modern four-seater chairlift with heated seats. Your comfort is paramount in Oravice. Zverovka – Spálená is a unique resort precisely because of the composition of its slopes. It can accommodate all skiers because there are slopes of every category. Children can ski on an easy trail, parents on an intermediate one, and those who want more can head to the black, most demanding slope.

Right at the entrance to the resort, there are two of the total three ski lifts. These lifts serve the blue, least demanding slopes. For steeper slopes, you have to head higher up, but we guarantee it will be worth it. From the nearly 1.5 km long chairlift, fantastic views of the Roháče massif and Salatín open up. You will feel as if you were somewhere in the Alps. From the top station of the chairlift, an intermediate section leads down. In this section, there is also a nearly 900-meter long ski lift. At the end of the resort's longest slope, you can choose a less steep alternative or a challenging black slope.

The entire resort is regularly maintained and groomed. Natural snow is left only on the black section of the slope. Naturally, artificial snowmaking is available, thanks to which even mild frosts are enough to ensure plenty of snow in Zverovka – Spálená. On 5 kilometers of slopes, you won't have time to get bored.

Absolute beginners can learn to ski in the ski school or snowboard in the snowboard school. In Zverovka – Spálená, they truly think of everyone. Among the resort's other facilities, we can mention restaurants with quality cuisine or snack bars offering many quick specialties.

In this charming ski area, there are 6 slopes with a total length of 4.5 km. Thanks to the varying difficulty of the tracks, more and less skilled skiers, athletes, and families with children come here. The slopes are regularly groomed and covered with artificial snow. This creates the conditions for excellent skiing even during poorer snow conditions. Two ski lifts are available to skiers. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts will in turn find what they love on the cross-country trails in the surrounding area.

The perfect skiing experience is enhanced not only by the scenery of the enchanting Orava nature, but also by a wide range of services. Going skiing in the Tatras does not have to mean only skiing in the Vysoké Tatry. How about heading to the Západné Tatry? These are called Roháče and, just like their more famous sisters, they offer plenty of ski resorts for all skiers.

To enjoy skiing in the Ski centrum Zuberec - Janovky, you will need to visit Orava. The resort lies practically right in Zuberec, which serves as the gateway to the entire Západné Tatry. You will find it a few kilometers south of the Oravská priehrada reservoir, and you can also get here from Dolný Kubín.

Every year, Orava is exceptionally rich in snowfall, thanks to which you will find high snowdrifts in Zuberec throughout the entire winter. A severe winter and plenty of snow are the foundation the ski resort builds upon, but for good measure, the entire area is also artificially snowed. It spans an altitude of 750 – 955 meters above sea level. It does not rank among the highest-altitude resorts, which is more of an advantage, as the resort is intended for beginners and intermediate skiers.

There are 4 ski lifts in the resort. Most of the slopes are blue, which represents the easiest difficulty. You do not have to be afraid to hit the blue slope even if you are just starting out with skiing or have small children. If you already have some skiing experience under your belt, you will certainly like the red, medium-difficulty slope.

The Janovky resort boasts a fairly substantial total slope length, reaching up to 4.5 kilometers. You will definitely not get bored. If Janovky still were not enough for you, you can also visit the neighboring ski resort Zuberec - Milotín, where you will find additional interesting slopes. Everyone will surely be pleased that tickets purchased in one resort are also valid in the other.

In Janovky, you will also find well-maintained cross-country skiing trails. The ski resort takes care of maintaining up to 8 kilometers of these tracks. Children will enjoy themselves in the ski school.

The surroundings of Zuberec offer many other leisure opportunities. The most famous ski resort in the area is the nearby Zverovka – Spálená dolina. After a demanding day full of skiing, relaxation in hot thermal water will certainly hit the spot. You can find such water in Oravice, famous for the wonderful thermal aquapark Meander Park. And finally, we must mention winter hiking. With a guide and on snowshoes, you will reach beautiful places you never even knew existed.

Zuberec is the most significant tourist center in the region. You will even find an open-air museum (skanzen) here, which regularly attracts crowds of visitors. Due to the popularity of this village, you do not have to worry about suitable accommodation. Throughout the entire village, there are more than enough guesthouses, modern wellness hotels, as well as simple tourist hostels and affordable private rooms. Harsh climatic conditions prevailing in Orava made life difficult for locals for centuries. During harsh winters, staying warm and securing food was a struggle. Just a few kilometers from the famous Oravská priehrada dam lies the town of Tvrdošín. You may have heard of it. It is famous above all for its all-wooden church, which is even listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Neighboring Tvrdošín is the village of Nižná nad Oravou. Often, you will also come across the name Nižná. It is right here that a remarkably pleasant ski resort is located.

The ski resort Ski centrum Nižná Uhliská is located in the Skorušinské vrchy mountains, which regularly enjoy abundant snowfall. Thanks to this, you will also get to ski on entirely natural snow, not just its artificial replacement. The ski area is not among the smallest resorts. The slopes span altitudes ranging from 617 to 857 meters above sea level. The trails end at the top of Prasatín, where you will find a snack bar with refreshments and a beautiful view of the valley. A relatively high elevation gain guarantees quality skiing even for more advanced skiers. Beginners will find plenty to enjoy in the lower part of the resort.

Ski centrum Nižná Uhliská is a balanced ski area where the whole family will find something to enjoy. In other resorts, beginners are confined to the bottom area only. That is also true in Nižná, but it offers even more. You can bypass practically every more demanding slope with an easier alternative. Thanks to this, you will find plenty of blue trails here designed for beginners. Advanced skiers will certainly find plenty to enjoy as well, with a red, medium-difficulty slope of grand proportions prepared for them. It is the longest trail in the resort, reaching a respectable 1,400 meters. For lovers of adrenaline skiing on steep slopes, Nižná offers a black section of trail with a length of almost 700 meters. In total, you will find almost 3.5 km of trails here, which is a respectable number.

Transport in the resort is handled by four ski lifts, which are more than sufficient. Beginner skiers will be taken care of by excellent instructors from the ski school. If you do not bring skis with you, you can easily rent them right on the slope. In the stylish restaurant, you will taste many Orava delicacies. And the most persistent skiers will be overjoyed when the lights turn on in the resort in the evening and they can enjoy an extra portion of night skiing.

Nižná is a sought-after tourist center in winter. In the village, you will find all kinds of accommodation to your taste. There are plenty of private rooms and cottages that can accommodate even larger groups. Alternatively, you can stay in guesthouses or a hotel right by the slope with a wellness center. Orava has many faces, and when you want to see its winter face, the ski resort Ski centrum Nižná Uhliská is a good choice.

High mountains are made for hikers, skiers, and all nature lovers in general. One of our most famous mountain ranges is Západné Tatry. Its high peaks are exceptionally attractive to tourists from all over Slovakia. Climbing peaks such as Baníkov or Ostrý Roháč is a dream for many. And right beneath these peaks, you will find the picturesque Račkova dolina, where you can enjoy great skiing.

The valley is located in Západné Tatry. Since Račkova dolina is a popular recreational resort, access to it is very easy. Just a short distance away is the village of Pribylina, known primarily for its famous open-air museum, featuring a tour of traditional dwellings and crafts of the Liptov region's inhabitants.

The beginning of the valley sits at an altitude of 960 meters above sea level, with the top of the resort reaching 1,100 meters above sea level. The ski resort itself is not among the largest or most famous. And that is precisely a huge asset for skiers. You won't find crowds of people, overcrowded slopes, or lines at the ski lifts here.

A pair of ski lifts and a pair of slopes await you here. They are designed for a wide spectrum of skiers, mainly due to the medium difficulty profile of the trails. Their total length is 1.4 km, and the entire resort is equipped with an artificial snowmaking system.

The foothills of Západné Tatry are interesting for more than just downhill skiers. For cross-country skiers, long kilometers of groomed trails are available.

It goes without saying that the ski resort includes supplementary services such as a refreshment kiosk, ski equipment rental, and a comprehensive range of accommodation services.

The nature here is truly beautiful. In the immediate vicinity, there is no shortage of high-quality services and attractions for everyone. A good tip for a trip around Liptov is, for example, Demänovské jaskyne. This region is exceptionally welcoming to relaxation enthusiasts. Visit the modern aquapark in Bešeňová, where an interesting water slide tower has been added, or head to the most famous aquapark in Slovakia, Tatralandia. Holidays in Liptov are becoming increasingly popular. Our Slovakia offers an incredible number of attractions and beautiful places that are well worth your attention. And Liptov is one of those greatest gems, not only in summer, but also in winter. If you are looking for a ski resort in Liptov primarily suitable for beginners and casual skiers, you will find your ideal spot just a short distance from Liptovský Mikuláš, the heart of Liptov.

Skicentrum Žiar – Dolinky is located on the edge of the village of Žiar. You will find it approximately 12 km north of Liptovský Mikuláš. The main advantage here is the beautiful setting of central Liptov. The views while skiing are truly breathtaking. On the northern side, the majestic wall of Západné Tatry towers over the region, while from the south, Nízke Tatry complete the stunning panorama. It is a unique setting that you will not easily find anywhere else.

The Žiar – Dolinky ski area is a smaller yet very well-equipped ski resort. Beginners in particular will enjoy it to the fullest, as both slopes in the resort are tailored to them. An appropriate slope length and a comfortable incline are the main prerequisites ensuring that even complete beginners can learn to ski here.

The resort stands at an altitude of 810 to 902 metres above sea level. Thanks to this, the resort does not suffer from a lack of snow, and the ski season usually lasts until the end of March.

In the resort, you will find a pair of slopes. Both are marked in blue, making them a favorite choice mainly for families with children and beginner skiers. One of the slopes measures 400 metres and the second one 450 metres. Together, you have nearly a kilometre of slopes available.

Convenient transport within the resort is provided by a pair of ski lifts, a shorter 200-metre lift and a longer 400-metre one. Regardless of which one you use more, pleasant and affordable skiing awaits you here.

The Žiar – Dolinky ski resort offers one particularly attractive service: night skiing. Both slopes are floodlit. After a generous session of skiing during the day, you can treat yourself to an extra portion in the form of night skiing. Alternatively, you can spend the day at the nearby Tatralandia water park and still hit the slope in the evening.

Among other complementary services, Žiar – Dolinky offers everything you need for a great skiing experience. There is a snack bar serving both hot and cold meals, a ski school, ski equipment rental, as well as cross-country skiing trails in the surrounding area. An interesting feature is the various events regularly organized right on the slope, such as carnivals or discos. The slope in Žiar is simply full of life.

The village of Žiar is also popular among tourists in the summer. One of the reasons is the beautiful Západné Tatry and diverse hiking options. Thanks to this, you will find many private rentals and apartments in the village. There are even several small cottages located right on the slope. In the morning, you wake up, put on your ski boots, and you are ready to ski. Nearby Liptovský Mikuláš offers an even more varied selection of accommodation, where even the most demanding guests will find the right fit. Mainly consisting of hotels and pleasant guesthouses. We will introduce you to another picturesque corner of Orava, which you may have already visited without even knowing it. At the very least, you have certainly heard of Oravská priehrada or the town of Tvrdošín. If you have made the journey here, you most likely passed through the Orava village of Podbiel.

Podbiel lies on the main road connecting Dolný Kubín with Tvrdošín. A few kilometers before it lies Oravský Podzámok. It is famous mainly for the iconic Oravský hrad, which towers on a high rocky cliff. The village was inhabited mainly by Vlachs (valasi), and the locals were engaged in forestry work. The village has therefore preserved its typical architecture, and you will find many original wooden cabins here. After a hearty day of skiing, you can just stroll through the evening streets between the wooden houses and feel as if you were among the sets of an old Slovak movie.

One of the smaller ski resorts is the one in Podbiel, in the Pod Pálenicou area. It is a small and simple municipal ski resort. If you demand low prices and do not want to wait in line for a lift, you are in the right place. Moreover, you will avoid crowds, parking issues, and other inconveniences associated with visiting larger ski resorts. The top of the resort's slope is at an altitude of 665 meters above sea level. The Podbiel Pod Pálenicou ski resort is not equipped with an artificial snowmaking system, so you will always ski on natural snow here. Since Orava itself is famous for its harsh climatic conditions and severe winters, skiers usually enjoy a generous snowfall. There is one ski lift and one slope suitable for skiers of all levels. Its length is 600 meters. Whole families with children can enjoy skiing on it, as it is of medium difficulty. Furthermore, all skiers will certainly be pleased with the favorable ski pass prices.

If you would like to try other ski resorts besides the one in Podbiel, you do not have to go too far. Popular slopes can be found in Zuberec as well as Brezovica. Both resorts are approximately 10 km from Podbiel, and you will get there literally in a matter of minutes. Podbiel is an extremely attractive village with many points of interest. From a distance, you will spot Červená skala, which dominates the village panorama. A popular destination for hikers is Bielska skala in the forests above the village. In addition, the village houses Františkova huta, an almost 200-year-old building of a former ironworks, and Bobrova raľa. It is the largest complex of preserved folk architecture in Central Europe.
