Jakubovské rybníky

Jakubovské rybníky

Jakubov

What could be a greater paradise for fishermen than spacious ponds full of perfect catches? Especially in a beautiful natural environment full of greenery and animals? One such small paradise is Jakubovské rybníky, which you will find in Jakubov, in the Malacky district. A perfect oasis of peace. A location whose silence acts as a balm for the soul for all visitors.

There are two ponds in total; one is private, and the other is managed by the fishing association. Together, they cover an area of 24 ha. You can catch carp, pike, or trout, but in the private pond, you will also find many other specimens. For a fee, you can catch bream, zander, silver carp, Prussian carp, grass carp, or catfish here. That is quite a decent reason to come and try your luck, wouldn't you say? Some vacationers even swim in the water, but that is entirely at their own risk.

Others just come to take a walk in the surroundings, to draw strength and energy from nature. To delight their eyes with the sight of flocks of marsh birds. The location is an important nesting site as well as a migration locality in Záhorie. In spring, you will see truly typical water birds here, which is an experience especially for smaller children. On the water surface, you can spot the great egret, grey heron, great crested grebe, greylag goose, tufted duck, Eurasian coot, and black-headed gull. Even a mammal, the beaver, has found its home here.

Whether you come here from Jakubov on foot, by bicycle, or by car, it will not take you much time. The ponds are located only about 2.5 km from the village. Be sure to bring your children or grandparents with you; they will appreciate spending time together, especially when it is in such a beautiful environment. If you are coming from afar, an option for you is to book accommodation near Jakubovské rybníky, for example, on the page accommodation Jakubov or accommodation in the Malacky district. You will certainly take home many a beautiful photograph as a keepsake and plenty of memories.

Dolná Studená voda

Dolná Studená voda

Borský Svätý Jur

The water reservoirs Dolná Studená Voda and Horná Studená Voda are located in the cadastral area of the village of Borský Svätý Jur in the Senica district. Both were built in 1963 on a site where sand mining pits had previously been excavated in wet meadows. The reservoirs were intended primarily to serve as water storage for agricultural irrigation. In later years, they also began to be used for fish farming and recreational purposes. The upper and lower reservoirs are connected by a reduced canal with a length of 370 m.

The lower reservoir covers an area of 15.75 ha and its average depth is 1.07 m. Until 1992, the reservoirs had the status of a breeding pond and were regularly drained during fish harvesting—the lower reservoir every second year. Even today, both reservoirs are a popular spot for anglers, while the upper reservoir is used by vacationers for swimming and water sports, albeit at their own risk. Numerous waterfowl nest in the area, including rare species on occasion. Near the reservoirs, a campsite, dining options, and sports equipment rental are available.

An international cycling route runs alongside the reservoirs, connecting to both Czech and Austrian cycle paths. The surroundings of the lakes consist of pine forests suitable for a walk. An interesting and educational hike awaits you if you choose the educational trail Gazárka – Lásek near the town of Šaštín - Stráže. You should also not miss the unique "Slovak desert" Šranecké piesky.

If you plan to stay near Dolná Studená voda, we recommend starting your search for accommodation in Borský Svätý Jur, where you can book a room in a guesthouse, for example.
