PARK SNOW Donovaly

PARK SNOW Donovaly

Donovaly

When looking for a ski resort for beginners, you have surely encountered one major problem. Either such resorts are too small, have few easy slopes, or are too crowded. Today, we will introduce you to one of the most famous resorts in all of Slovakia, focused primarily on beginner skiers and families with children. Welcome to PARK SNOW in Donovaly!

Donovaly offers excellent snow conditions, beautiful views, high-quality services, and a number of slopes mainly for beginners. Where can you find them? They lie directly on the main route between Ružomberok and Banská Bystrica. The drive through the fairy-tale snowy landscape will get you in the mood for skiing even before you arrive at the destination.

At first glance, the local architecture, which resembles the Alps, will catch your eye. Beautiful hotels and guesthouses, among which hundreds of satisfied skiers are skiing. And soon, you will join them too. The resort spreads out at an altitude of 915 to 1,402 meters above sea level, thanks to which a long ski season is guaranteed.

What do Donovaly offer? Up to 11 km of slopes, 1 chairlift, 1 combined chairlift with several cabins, and up to 14 lifts. The fact that the resort is focused on less experienced skiers is evidenced by the fact that approximately three-quarters of the entire resort are marked in blue, i.e., the easiest slopes.

You will spend time with children on the side south of the road, where the least demanding tracks are located. When you crave something steeper, the slopes on the north side of the road leading from Nová hoľa are for the more demanding. They are marked in red, and you will even find a 100-meter-long black section here. The combined cable car, together with the lift at the summit, ensures short queues, and you will be able to enjoy a descent on the longest slope in the resort, measuring up to 2,200 meters.

Since Donovaly is focused on families with children and people who want to have fun, you will find a children's Fun Park here, which is the largest in Central Europe. It offers slalom courses, fairy-tale characters, various obstacles for the little ones, and up to 9 conveyor belts. All this under the supervision of experienced instructors. The Riders Park is also popular, where every freerider will enjoy themselves. Jumps, professional obstacles, easy jumps, and pleasant music from the speakers will get the blood flowing in the veins of every experienced skier. After a dose of adrenaline, you will calm down with relaxed night skiing. Or on a dog sled, while bowling, or paragliding. There are truly enough possible activities here.

Donovaly offers countless free beds in beautiful hotels and pleasant guesthouses directly in the middle of the slopes. There are cottages, tourist hostels, and modern wellness centers here. It only depends on your preferences. Donovaly will please not only the body but also the spirit.

Jasná Chopok sever - Otupné

Jasná Chopok sever - Otupné

Demänovská Dolina

Jasná is the largest ski resort for miles around. But if you think a beginner skier won't find a place to ski here, you are mistaken. It offers something for everyone. For professionals, freeriders, ski mountaineers, intermediate skiers, but also for beginner skiers and families with small children. If you belong to the last category, pay attention.

A short distance from the ticket office where you buy your passes, there is a modern and beautiful hotel. In front of it stands the valley station of the cable car. It will certainly catch your eye immediately upon arrival; its black and orange design is simply unmistakable. And it is thanks to it that you will discover the high-quality slopes of Otupné.

The cable car will comfortably take you from an altitude of 1,141 meters above sea level to nearly 300 meters higher, where an approximately 2 km long slope begins. The cable car, named after the adjacent hotel, Grandjet, is fast, comfortable, and thanks to the orange glass, you will feel like it is beautifully sunny outside. Even when it is cloudy.

The slope from Brhliská to Otupné is marked in blue, so it is suitable for beginners or children. It is sufficiently wide, and you do not have to worry about the safety of your little one. A few meters of the slope are red, of intermediate difficulty, but this section can be bypassed by a gentler slope. Moreover, you will find ski schools in the resort, and if you do not dare to go alone, you can head to Otupné with an experienced instructor.

In addition to the modern cable car, you will also find short lifts here. They come in handy when you don't want to return all the way down to the parking lots. At Otupné, there is a unique view of the massive rocky ridge of the Nízke Tatry mountains, the Chopok peak itself, and, of course, the Derešský kotol basin.

Until now, it may have seemed that if you are a more experienced skier, you have no reason to go to Otupné. Wrong. The first reason is the breathtaking natural scenery all around, and the second is the local Snowpark. It is the real deal for adrenaline seekers. You will find high snow ramps, jumps, rails, and various obstacles here. From small jumps for beginners to several-meter-long jumps for the best. If "freeride" is your middle name, you will let loose like a small child at Otupné.

Jasná offers slopes for every group of skiers, and Otupné is an example of this. It is focused mainly on beginners and absolute extremists who love adrenaline. Are you in one of these groups? Then you would want to stay somewhere, because one day at Jasná is not enough. Trust us! In that case, we offer you a luxury hotel right by the cable car, plenty of hotels in the immediate vicinity, or tourist hostels directly on the slopes. Some may prefer cozy cabins scattered throughout the entire Demänovská dolina valley. The options are more than wide; it just depends on you.

Jasná Chopok juh - Kosodrevina

Jasná Chopok juh - Kosodrevina

Demänovská Dolina

Do you like everything that is the best? The best, the biggest, the highest quality? We invite you to the largest and most extensive ski resort in Slovakia. And rest assured that it will remain the largest and best for a long time to come. Welcome to Jasná.

With its parameters, the Jasná ski resort resembles Alpine rather than Slovak ski resorts. Judge for yourself: 45 kilometers of slopes, 2 gondolas, 7 chairlifts, 15 ski lifts, and one of the world's unique attractions: a funitel on the northern side. It is the most modern and fastest type of gondola lift you can encounter. A single cabin can accommodate up to 24 skiers. And the total capacity of the resort? A dizzying more than 30,000 skiers per hour.

Jasná is divided into two parts, which were successfully connected precisely thanks to the funitel. Into the more extensive and better-known northern side, and the beautiful, less touched southern side. It is precisely the southern side we will look at today.

The southern slopes of Chopok, especially in the area called Kosodrevina, are only for the best and most experienced skiers. This part of the resort is located between the peak of Chopok and the Horský hotel Kosodrevina mountain hotel. Chopok stands at an altitude of over 2,000 meters and undoubtedly belongs among our most majestic and popular peaks. Today, you can ski directly from its summit.

All slopes in this area are black, the most demanding. If you are not confident on skis, don't even try it here. Due to their steep incline, the slopes on the southern side are groomed less frequently than those in the north. Be prepared for that, but when fresh snow falls, skiing at Kosodrevina is perhaps the best skiing experience in the country. The slopes here are serviced by 3 ski lifts and, above all, a brand-new 15-passenger gondola leading from the Kosodrevina hotel at an altitude of 1,495 meters above sea level directly to the summit of Chopok.

On the southern slope of Chopok, at Kosodrevina, you will find numerous steep chutes that will be appreciated especially by freeride enthusiasts. Riding through pristine, untouched powder will become an addiction, and you will never want to stop. Add to that the magnificent views into the valley, and the result will be an unforgettable skiing experience.

Have you always dreamed of staying right on the slope during a skiing trip? If so, Kosodrevina will make that possible for you. Right on the slope, you will find a stylish mountain hotel, and admit it, staying in such a beautiful environment right in the middle of the slope, what more could a skier want? Alternatively, you can stay in the villages at the foot of the mountains, in Tále or Bystrá, where you can also take a trip to Bystrianska jaskyňa cave. Chopok south – Kosodrevina is for the most demanding and discerning skiers. If you are one, you have nothing more to hesitate about.

Just a few kilometres south of Liptovský Mikuláš, near the road leading into Demänovská dolina. The resort lies on the edge of the village of Pavčina Lehota and offers views across a large part of Liptov.

You may have already heard of Pavčina Lehota. It is home to the longest mountain bobsleigh track in Slovakia, which attracts tourists mainly during the summer. In winter, the slopes above Pavčina Lehota become a sought-after ski resort.

The ski resort is located at an altitude ranging from 760 to 907 metres above sea level. The best thing about the Žiarce resort is the fact that it offers skiing for all difficulty levels. Here you will find 4 ski lifts, thanks to which you can forget about long lines and ski from morning to evening almost without a break.

The total length of the ski slopes is 1,130 metres. These are divided among all difficulty levels. In the lower section, there are two lifts intended exclusively for beginners. Easy blue slopes are available for them, where they can learn their first metres on skis under the supervision of ski instructors.

For everyone else, two additional lifts are available. The shorter one also offers the option of a descent along a blue slope, while the longer one is for more experienced skiers. The upper part of this slope is even designated black and, thanks to its incline, presents a challenge even for seasoned skiers.

Naturally, in the ski resort you will find a snack bar, a ski school, artificial snowmaking, and on certain days of the week, you even have the option of night skiing. What could be better after a good dinner than a few more hours of skiing on the slope?

Liptov offers many natural sights and attractions. One of the largest is just a stone's throw away from Pavčina Lehota. It is Demänovská dolina with Slovakia's most beautiful caves, Demänovská ľadová jaskyňa and Demänovská jaskyňa slobody.

Pavčina Lehota is also a popular starting point for more well-known ski resorts. During the tourist season, you will meet many other tourists here. Šachtičky

Šachtičky

Špania Dolina

Nízke Tatry attract almost every passionate hiker. Peaks like Chopok or Ďumbier are known to perhaps everyone. However, Nízke Tatry are not formed only by their main ridge; you will also find many undiscovered yet beautiful corners here. We will now take you to one of them.

Imagine a small village in a beautiful and quiet environment. High mountains rise all around, and dense forests tempt you for a walk. Do you think you cannot find such a place in our country? Mistake. All you need to do is head to the ski resort Šachtičky. It lies just a short distance from one of the most beautiful mountain villages in Slovakia, Špania Dolina. This village is located a few kilometers north of the well-known Banská Bystrica.

Šachtičky in the foothills of Nízke Tatry welcomes all skiers. Its main advantage is excellent snow conditions. Deep in the mountains, winter is always harsh, and there is usually more natural snow here than usual. Furthermore, the artificial snowmaking system significantly helps in the resort as well. Šachtičky is a relatively large and interesting ski complex. You will find slopes of all difficulty levels here: blue, red, and black. Approximately half of all trails are marked in red, indicating medium difficulty slopes.

Šachtičky is also great for beginner skiers. In other ski resorts, it is customary to set aside only a few short lifts and slopes at the bottom of the resort for beginners. Šachtičky is different and offers top-class slopes even to beginners. One of the blue slopes is almost 2 km long and is the longest in the resort. The second is over 1.5 km long, which is also a respectable length. Thus, you do not have to worry about skiing on a very short slope all day long.

Ski Šachtičky is situated at an altitude of 802 to 1,102 meters above sea level. So prepare for a harsh winter and, what is even better, a beautiful panoramic view. That will be the icing on the cake of your perfect skiing experience. A total of five ski lifts ensure that you ski more than you wait in line. The total capacity of the resort is almost 3,000 skiers per hour. Šachtičky is a suitable ski resort even for a multi-day winter vacation due to the total length of the slopes. It reaches more than 10 km, which ranks Šachtičky among the larger Slovak ski resorts.

Just as great as all 9 slopes in the resort are the additional services. You will find a children's area for the youngest skiers, a ski service shop, rental shop, a snack bar with a terrace, a restaurant, and accommodation facilities right next to the slope. If you love cross-country skiing, bring your cross-country skis to Šachtičky as well. Up to 14 km of trails in a beautiful setting with views of Nízke Tatry await you here.

In winter, Šachtičky is a popular ski resort, and in summer, it transforms into a well-known recreational area. Thanks to this status, it offers varied accommodation options. A pleasant hotel or mountain chalets in the immediate vicinity of the ski lifts are available to you here. Nearby, there are private accommodation options suitable for unpretentious tourists requiring complete privacy. Šachtičky certainly belongs among the ski resorts you should try.

Jasná Chopok juh - Srdiečko

Jasná Chopok juh - Srdiečko

Demänovská Dolina

Are you a skier? And you haven't been to Jasná yet? You simply must change that this winter. The most modern ski resort in Slovakia offers everything. Modern and wide ski slopes, super-fast cable cars, but also mysterious nooks of the resort that remind one of the good old days of the skiing era. One such nook is the Srdiečko area on the southern slopes of Chopok.

You won't find many resorts that resemble the ski courses of your youth with their atmosphere. You might be surprised, but you will find exactly such places in Jasná. If you get tired of tens of kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes on the northern side, where unfortunately there is almost always a large number of people, head to the south. You will be taken to the top of Chopok by a modern funitel. Steep black slopes await you here. Once you manage this section, you will reach Srdiečko.

There is a well-known mountain hotel here, where you will certainly make many new friends. A friendly atmosphere and a wonderful panorama of the mountains are the best things you could wish for during a ski stay. You will have majestic Chopok right in the palm of your hand and a chairlift right under your windows. You can get to Kosodrevina by this lift, from where a modern high-capacity cable car leads all the way to the top of Chopok.

The slopes at Srdiečko are also inclined towards less experienced skiers, although absolute beginners should look somewhere else. The slope leading along the chairlift also has challenging sections. The part west of Srdiečko is somewhat gentler. You will find classic ski lifts here, where there is almost always a minimum of people. This red-marked slope belongs to the longest descents in Slovakia. You should definitely try it; it is an unmistakable experience directly from the top of Chopok.

One of the less known nooks of the southern side of Chopok close to Srdiečko is Dereše. An older ski lift leads to a height of approximately 2000 meters above sea level. Dereše are interesting not only for their natural beauty but also for a beautiful slope with open terrain where you don't have to worry about queues of people. You will feel like in a movie with professional skiers. If you visit Jasná, don't just ski on the northern side. The southern side has a completely different atmosphere, and many will like it more than the more commercial northern side.

Srdiečko is very easily accessible; a classic road even leads here. You can get here from the direction of Tále. In addition to traffic accessibility, one unique attraction is located nearby, the Jaskyňa Mŕtvych netopierov (Cave of Dead Bats). You won't find groomed trails or artificial lighting here. As an adventurer, a caver, you will set off into the dark depths and discover all the underground beauties by the light of a carbide lamp.

You can stay directly at the Horský hotel Srdiečko (Srdiečko Mountain Hotel), from which a chairlift leads and several slopes end here. Alternatively, there are several villages with private accommodation and guest houses available to you. Tále, Bystrá, or Mýto pod Ďumbierom are popular destinations among tourists offering affordable accommodation.

Tens of kilometers of slopes, ski lifts, and cable cars on par with the Alps. You definitely shouldn't miss out on such an experience.

A main road leads to Jasná, alongside which there are several large park-and-ride car parks. Each of them is connected to a chairlift, so it doesn't matter where you park. You can enjoy the entire resort from any car park. If you don't feel like going all the way to the top, you can stop in the area called Záhradky.

Get out of the car, put on your ski boots, step into your skis, and head straight to the slopes. Jasná is exceptional because it offers long kilometers of trails of all difficulty levels. If you are an intermediate skier, you will find plenty to enjoy in Záhradky. Alternatively, you can warm up and stretch your muscles here before tackling steeper slopes. In Záhradky, you will mostly find medium-difficulty (red) slopes, but there is also a blue, least demanding trail.

One ski lift and two modern chairlifts lead directly from Záhradky. Equipment with windshield covers protecting against the wind is taken for granted. One of the chairlifts leads to Rovná hoľa, a quieter yet even more beautiful corner of Jasná. The second one takes you directly into the heart of the resort, to Priehyba, at an altitude of 1,342 meters above sea level. This is where the famous funitel funicular/cable car is located, leading all the way to the top of Chopok. From Záhradky, you can reach an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level with just a single transfer. Another chairlift runs above Záhradky, coming from the previous park-and-ride car park at Lúčky.

If you head from Záhradky to Rovná hoľa, you have a choice of two slopes to ski back down. Intermediate skiers will choose the red one, and beginners the blue one. If that isn't enough for you, you can extend your descent all the way to Lúčky. The cable car to Priehyba is for more demanding skiers. From there, you can return to Záhradky via either two red slopes or one black slope for the most experienced skiers.

Down at the bottom of the slopes, a full range of facilities awaits you: snack bars, a restaurant, a rental shop, a ski school, and a sports clothing store. In short, complete equipment and services. And remember, Záhradky is just an entry point to the resort center, where even more awaits you.

Finding accommodation in Záhradky will not be a problem. Jasná offers cozy mountain cabins, luxurious guesthouses, as well as affordable private rooms and tourist hostels around every corner. It's entirely up to you what you choose. You will truly find everything here.

The Veľká Fatra is an unimaginably popular mountain range. It is visited by crowds of tourists in both summer and winter. They come here for the gorgeous nature, peace, and quiet that only the mountains can provide. In the Veľká Fatra, you will find plenty of attractions throughout the winter, even if you love skis and skiing itself. Try it on the slopes of the Krížna peak.

Krížna is a truly majestic peak with an altitude of 1,574 meters above sea level. On its sun-drenched southern slopes lies the popular Ski Turecká - Krížna ski resort.

This ski resort is located just 16 km from the very center of Banská Bystrica, making it popular not only with tourists but also with the local population. It is deep in the mountains near the well-known Staré Hory, which you may know as a famous pilgrimage site. The entire ski resort is set in a beautiful environment and, with its slopes, can boldly compete with much more famous ski resorts.

Ski Turecká - Krížna consists of two parts. The first part, named Lúčky, lies at an altitude of 600 to 900 meters above sea level. The higher-situated Líška lies at an altitude of 1,080 to 1,385 meters above sea level. Currently, unfortunately, only the lower section is in operation, featuring a pair of ski lifts, one red slope for intermediate skiers, and one blue trail for beginners.

Since there is a strong expectation that the entire resort will be operational in the future, we will take a look at all of its parts. This will be mainly thanks to its great slopes and beautiful views far and wide.

If the entire resort is in operation, almost 10 km of slopes await you. There are 3 blue, easy slopes, 3 red, intermediate slopes, and even one black slope. The slopes in the lower part of the resort are equipped with an artificial snowmaking system, while the upper part relies on natural snowfall.

In total, you will find 7 slopes and 6 ski lifts here. It should be noted that Krížna is also suitable for more demanding skiers who love long downhill runs. The black, most demanding slope measures as much as 1,950 meters, which is a truly respectable figure. And that is still not the longest slope in the resort! That title belongs to the 3,450-meter-long slope, which ranks among the longest Slovak slopes. Of course, during milder winters, only the lower part of the resort equipped with artificial snowmaking is in operation, offering approximately 2 km of slopes.

Among the additional services at the Ski Turecká - Krížna ski resort, you will find a ski rental shop, a service center, a restaurant, and a snack bar. It is a very well-equipped resort not only for unpretentious skiers but also for more demanding ones. Children and complete beginners can use the services of the ski school, so the whole family will find something to enjoy at the Ski Turecká - Krížna resort.

In the small village of Turecká itself, you will find several private rooms and cottages that you can rent. The greatest advantage is the immediate proximity to the slopes. Nearby Staré Hory offers additional accommodation options, where you will also find comfortable guesthouses. All you need to do is decide on a skiing trip under the peak of Krížna, and finding accommodation will no longer be the slightest problem.
