Play cowboy and experience a slice of the wild American Texas. You can find all this and much more in the tiny village of Novoť.

The premises are equipped with an indoor riding arena, a tack room, a common room, and a stable with outdoor shelters. Cutting is characterized by specially bred breeds such as the Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, and American Paint Horse, mainly for their well-developed cow sense, an intuitive ability to read cattle. Every year, more than 2,200 cutting events are organized around the world. The cutting ranch North Orava Cutting Horses regularly participates in competitions in Hungary, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Beginner and advanced riders alike can sign up for a riding course. Beginners start with grooming, saddling, and unsaddling the horse. They complete their riding course in the indoor arena. More experienced riders can take a horse for an outdoor ride and enjoy the view of the magnificent Orava nature from the saddle. Do not forget to always book your horseback ride in advance by phone.

The ranch also offers hippotherapy, which focuses on working with children with various developmental disorders. It is proven that horseback riding has a very beneficial effect on children. It improves speech, regulates muscle tone, enhances spatial orientation, reduces anxiety and fear, eliminates aggression, and supports concentration. Hippotherapy is recommended for children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities, delayed speech development, learning or behavioral disorders, children with ADHD, Down syndrome, eating disorders, or other neurological and psychosomatic conditions.

The water reservoir Oravská priehrada extends at the confluence of the Biela and Čierna Orava rivers near the town of Námestovo. During its construction, a part of this town was flooded, which is why we will not find its historical center here. However, Oravská priehrada is a popular tourist destination where it is worthwhile to spend your holiday.

The decision to build Oravská priehrada was made due to numerous floods in this area. Especially during the period of snow melting, people in the territory of these rivers lost their dwellings. Among the flooded villages was also Slanica. Today, only the peak of Slanický ostrov, divided into 2 parts: Ostrov umeňa and Vtáčí ostrov, protrudes from the water. The islands are connected, and in the case of low water levels, it is possible to walk from one to the other. You will find a Roman Catholic church here with an exhibition of Orava folk art. Festive concerts are organized in it from time to time.

By building the dam wall in 1953, a power plant located beneath it was put into operation. Behind the wall, the river confluences merge and continue to flow as one, the well-known Orava river. Part of the water work is also the balancing reservoir in the town of Tvrdošín. Oravská priehrada is not only a functional result but also an interesting place for a holiday. A large number of accommodation facilities have been built around the lake: cottages, guesthouses, apartments, or camping sites. Truly everyone can choose.

Tourists like to come here for entertainment or water sports. Sightseeing boats operate here, you can go boating, windsurfing, rent a water bike or the increasingly popular paddleboard. In addition, you will find restaurants, buffets, as well as attractions for children. In summer, it is especially worth visiting the southern and western parts, where shallow shores are ideal for swimming. In winter, the dam freezes in some parts. The daring take advantage of walks across the frozen surface and admire the nature of the Orava district.

Oravská priehrada is an ideal place for a proper fishing trip. With its area of 35 sq km, it provides privacy in quiet corners under the trees. Do not hesitate to visit this charming place and choose accommodation near Oravská priehrada directly with us. Your holiday in Orava can begin.

Together we will head to the north of Slovakia, to a region that was plagued by hunger and poverty for many centuries. The difficult serf life, in contrast with breathtaking nature, continues to amaze tourists to this day. The hard, cold, and rugged Orava shows off its beauty. One of the greatest is undoubtedly Oravský hrad.

Oravský hrad definitely cannot be overlooked. It proudly towers on a majestic rocky cliff, thanks to which it is not only clearly visible, but also enjoys a great strategic location. Judge for yourself: for enemies in the High Middle Ages, it was surely almost impossible to conquer the 112-meter steep cliff.

If you think the castle is located near the famous Oravská priehrada, you are mistaken. You will find it a bit further south, by the village of Oravský Podzámok. An important trade route once passed through here. A stone successor was built on the site of a wooden fort. It is first mentioned in the year 1267. King Belo IV. exchanged it for Žilina, Varín, and Sučany, making it a royal castle. The castle passed through the hands of many owners and nobles. The most prominent family in its history is undoubtedly the Thurzovci. The first of them, František I. Thurzo, bought it in 1556. Later, the family had no male successor, leaving only 7 women. They chose a single administrator and thus maintained control over the property. It was thanks to the Thurzovci that Oravský hrad acquired the appearance it has today through reconstructions. The fortification was modified and reinforced between 1556 and 1621.

Even Oravský hrad could not avoid disaster in the form of a fire. It was engulfed in flames in the exact year of 1800. It was likely caused by a single spark that flew out of a chimney and set the entire roof ablaze. The first essential repairs took place only a century later, lasting from 1906 to 1912. During World War II, German troops settled at the castle, setting up a military observation post in the complex. More extensive reconstruction occurred between 1953 and 1968.

What can you see today at the castle above the Orava river? The castle premises house the exposition of Oravské múzeum. The most significant is its historical section, the castle itself. Its beauty has even enchanted filmmakers from all over the world. Many of you certainly know that the movieThomas the Falconer was filmed at the castle, but we have one more interesting fact. Footage for the cult 1922 film Nosferatu also comes from Oravský hrad. Part of the museum is also an ethnographic exposition focusing on the traditional lifestyle of the inhabitants of Orava, with an emphasis on the most typical craft, pastoral sheep farming. Finally, you will find an interesting natural science exposition showcasing the fauna and flora of Orava.

The most ideal option will be to stay directly below the castle cliff in Oravský Podzámok. Very affordable accommodation can be found in Orava. The saying "bang for your buck" applies here. You will be able to choose from a tourist hostel, private rental, guesthouse, or one of the private cottages. Whether you are a couple, a family, or an entire group, you are guaranteed to find what you are looking for.

Whether you are young or old, you can play here at any age. Yes, Laser Game Vulkán, located in Námestovo, Orava, is prepared for an adrenaline-pumping shooting game. A teambuilding event, celebration, or a special occasion can be planned right here. It will be unforgettable and, above all, far from typical.

During opening hours, they will gladly welcome you at Laser Game Námestovo and show you the laser game. A professional team will explain the basic rules of the game, familiarize you with the game systems, and help you choose a game variant. You can opt for a team game where players divide into two teams and compete against each other. A game where every player plays against everyone else is also available, and naturally, only the best one wins. The game has its age limits; it is mainly intended for children aged 8 and over. To avoid standing out too much, bring darker sportswear with you, which will partially help you win. Laser Game Vulkán has changing rooms with lockable lockers. This means you can come right after work, change clothes, and play this original game. Before entering, you will receive a vest with sensors, a gun, and off you go to play.

How does it all work? You enter a dark room. You will hear a song playing, after which a voice will announce the start of the game. Throughout the arena, it is necessary to be careful as it consists of many illuminated obstacles. You move through the corridors in dense fog and try to hit your opponent with a laser beam.

You won't even realize it, and after a game full of running and shooting, you will be left feeling a little hungry. The solution for you can be refreshments at the bar or, in the case of a pre-planned event, external catering provided directly by the company.

After an early evening spent actively like this, you can book accommodation near Laser Game Vulkán on the very same day and relax after the whole day. On the following day, treat yourself to other activities as well, such as a movie at Autokino Orava or a sightseeing boat cruise on Oravská priehrada. In winter, activities are somewhat more limited, which is why it is advisable to rent an entire cottage or chalet in Námestovo instead and spend time in the company of your loved ones after this game. Feel free to consider a suitable alternative yourself; we will gladly help you with the best accommodation.

They know biting frosts very well here, and more importantly, the Orava Snow ski resort is located here. What does this freezing weather imply? Lots of snow. And therefore, great skiing.

The village of Oravská Lesná lies on the Slovak-Polish border, almost right at the frontier. You will find it west of Námestovo, a town on the edge of the Oravská priehrada reservoir. A short distance from Oravská Lesná, in the heart of the Oravské Beskydy mountains, a pleasant ski resort awaits you, where you will spend many unique moments. The local slopes are wide, always perfectly prepared. Of course, you will also find an artificial snowmaking system here, thanks to which the ski season is much longer.

The location in the north of Slovensko guarantees plenty of snow. Spacious slopes ensure that you will not encounter any "congestion" and you will always have enough room during your ride. Orava Snow boasts a new chairlift, seconded by four ski lifts.

Despite not having the largest number of transport facilities, they are able to service up to 8 kilometers of slopes. Almost 4000 skiers can ski here comfortably, which is a sufficient capacity. An interesting feature of the Orava Snow ski resort is the presence of slopes of all difficulty levels. The resort has two parts, Lehotská and Kohútik. From Lehotská, there are mainly blue, the least demanding slopes, but also one medium-difficulty one. This part is especially suitable for families with children, beginner skiers, or snowboarders. A separate area for a snowboarding park has been built for them. Kohútik is for more advanced skiers. There are several alternatives for the descent. Podbiel lies on the main road connecting Dolný Kubín with Tvrdošín. A few kilometers before it lies Oravský Podzámok. It is famous mainly for the iconic Oravský hrad, which towers on a high rocky cliff. The village was inhabited mainly by Vlachs (valasi), and the locals were engaged in forestry work. After a hearty day of skiing, you can just stroll through the evening streets between the wooden houses and feel as if you were among the sets of an old Slovak movie.

Moreover, you will avoid crowds, parking issues, and other inconveniences associated with visiting larger ski resorts. The top of the resort's slope is at an altitude of 665 meters above sea level. Since Orava itself is famous for its harsh climatic conditions and severe winters, skiers usually enjoy a generous snowfall. There is one ski lift and one slope suitable for skiers of all levels. Its length is 600 meters. Whole families with children can enjoy skiing on it, as it is of medium difficulty. Furthermore, all skiers will certainly be pleased with the favorable ski pass prices.

And that is where a wide variety of accommodation options comes into play. From guesthouses, through cottages and chalets, to private rentals, you will truly find everything here. All you need to do is choose the right accommodation from the diverse selection, where you will feel right at home.

The Medieval Falconry Village is a unique archaeological open-air museum located beneath Oravský hrad, in the village of Oravský Podzámok. This open-air museum is the only one of its kind in Slovakia. It introduces visitors to the life of an ordinary person during the early Middle Ages, specifically the period of Great Moravia.

During your tour of the falconry village, you will see buildings with period architecture. Artisans will present their noble ancient craft and allow you to try it out for yourself. Or do you long for archery or perhaps a ride on a typical ladder wagon? The open-air museum makes all of this possible.

It is an experience for both children and adults.

If you long to be transported back in time, to see a period-dressed falconer with a noble creature on their arm and the majestically towering castle in the background, you are in the right place. However, other attractions in Orava and its surroundings are also well worth a visit. Surrounded by the waters of Oravská priehrada, Slanický ostrov, also known as Ostrov umenia. has been located here since 1953. Its area covers 3.5 hectares. When you see the island from a distance, it might strike you at first glance as appearing deserted. Although no one lives on it, visitors walk across it regularly. This is because the exhibitions of Oravská galéria Dolný Kubín are installed here, and summer events are also occasionally organized on the island.

Slanický ostrov umenia is a remnant and monument of the submerged village of Slanica. The Kostol Povýšenia sv. Kríža church was preserved from it, although it was not always a church. When it was built between 1766 and 1769, it represented a Baroque chapel; it was only in 1843 that it was rebuilt into a church with two towers and a classicist chapel was added to it. In front of it stands a monument to Anton Bernolák, a bronze statue dating from the mid-1930s.

Inside the church, there is an exhibition from Oravská galéria entitled "Slovak Traditional Folk Sculpture and Painting". Traditional folk visual art has always belonged among the typical elements and expressions of a country's national culture, and Orava is no exception. Orava statues belong to the cult of the Virgin Mary, originating from Polish Galicia. Their authors were mostly self-taught artists who, when carving, simply let themselves be guided by their own inspiration and skill. Thus, in the spirit of local woodcarving traditions, these small works of art were created, though unfortunately only a limited number of them have survived.

In the island's exterior, there is a torso of the original cemetery and a lapidarium of “Orava Stonemasonry Creation of the 18th and 19th Centuries”. An exhibition of Orava stonemasonry has been installed in it since 1973. To this day, individual reliefs and statues of saints have been preserved in their original locations, such as cemeteries, calvaries, churches, or chapels. Believers often decorated them with various vivid colors or different crowns and paper flowers on special occasions. In the former tomb, the exhibition “History of Submerged Villages and the Construction of Oravská Priehrada” is installed. The combination of the attractiveness of the installed exhibitions together with the beautiful natural scenery of the island makes this place one of the most visited and popular cultural sites in Orava.

You can reach the island by boat, which drops you off here during a sightseeing cruise on Oravská priehrada. It is truly a great experience that both children and adults will remember for a long time. We therefore recommend finding accommodation near Slanický ostrov umenia and allowing yourself enough time to get to know this area from a different perspective. Being buoyed by the larger and smaller waves of the reservoir is something you simply need to experience. Book your stay on the pages accommodation Námestovo or accommodation Orava and come discover the attractions in Orava firsthand.

Orava is among the coldest places in Slovakia. That is something that will particularly please winter lovers and skiing enthusiasts in particular. Recent years have been characterized by warmer winters with less snow. Despite this, Orava currently represents a bright exception, and you can look forward to plenty of snow here throughout the entire winter.

One of the villages that cannot complain about a lack of winter is Oravské Veselé. It is located almost at the very edge of Slovakia, just a few kilometers north of the town of Námestovo and near the border with Poland. This region was uninhabited for a long time; it experienced harsh winters and poorer harvests. However, the real wealth was hidden in the mountains and forests, which offered an abundance of wood. It was thanks to timber logging that the first inhabitants settled between Pilsko and Babia hora.

The village had its highest population at the beginning of the twentieth century, but a lack of jobs and poor living conditions drove many locals out into the world. Today, only the most loyal countrymen remain here, which is why you will encounter extraordinary warmheartedness throughout the entire Orava region.

If you are looking for a quiet skiing holiday at great prices, the Oravské Veselé ski resort is an ideal choice for you. It is a smaller resort, but one where you can ski to your heart's content with your whole family and friends.

The top of the slope is located at an altitude of 780 meters above sea level. This is not much, but combined with the harsh conditions in Orava, concerns about having enough snow are out of place. The length of the ski lift is just under 500 meters. This lift enjoys great popularity, especially among locals, whom you will meet most frequently on the slope.

The slope is well-balanced and suitable for families with children. In the lower section, children can learn or hone their skiing skills. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy a snappier ride on the track, which is regularly groomed by a snowcat. Large families will be pleased by one more thing: ski pass prices. For what you would pay at a famous resort for a single day, the whole family can ski in Oravské Veselé.

In addition to the ski resort, its immediate surroundings are also worth mentioning. For example, the town of Námestovo or Tvrdošín. In the latter, you will find a gorgeous all-wooden church, which is even inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. Well-known attractions include the majestic Oravská priehrada reservoir or the forest railway in Nová Bystrica. If you want to ski on other slopes in Orava, visit Oravská Lesná or nearby Zázrivá. Both offer top-notch skiing at more than reasonable prices.

There is plenty of accommodation capacity to choose from directly in the village of Oravské Veselé. More demanding tourists will certainly choose accommodation in a guesthouse. Private rentals or increasingly popular mountain cabins are equally attractive choices. Some of them are in close proximity to the ski resort, and you will be just a few steps from the slope. Treat yourself to peace and quiet and the authentic Orava atmosphere during your ski holiday in the wonderful surroundings of Oravské Veselé.

The village of Podbiel lies at the confluence of the Orava and Studená rivers, in the district of Tvrdošín. One of the greatest sights of this distinctive village is undoubtedly the impressive natural phenomenon, Červená skala, which rises proudly above the surface of the Orava river. It attracts tourists not only with its color, but also with a unique view of the village accompanied by picturesque natural scenery of watercourses, dominated in the background by Roháče. This millions-of-years-old limestone gem conceals yet another magical secret: fascinating fossils that will certainly not escape your keen eye if you accept an invitation to take a walk to this enchanting place.

Červená skala is located at an altitude of 690 m above sea level. It is part of the Pieniny Klippen Belt (karpatský bradlový systém). It consists of limestones formed back in the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, an incredible 195 to 65 million years ago. Remarkably, the rock was likely a deep-sea sediment, standing today as proof that Podbiel and the adjacent area were once submerged under the sea. Fossilized imprints of ammonites near the information board below Červená skala further prove this. Ammonites were shelled marine cephalopods that went extinct 65 million years ago.

Červená skala is a true magnet for tourists. The ascent is easy and takes approximately 40 minutes. The starting point is the village of Podbiel, from where you set out along the blue-marked hiking trail. The final climb to the top of the rock leads up wooden steps. Here, a unique panoramic view of the village and surrounding nature will welcome you. It is only at this spot that many realize the village sits almost like on a peninsula formed by two rivers.

And what would a magical rock like Červená skala be without an interesting local legend? In Podbiel, it is said that besides animal fossils, a fossilized human body was also found on Červená skala. However, the finders broke it apart out of curiosity to see what lay inside. A portion of the head saved by a local teacher was then transferred to a museum in Budapest. Yet no one knows exactly which museum it was supposed to be, so the legend remains just a legend. However, Červená skala is very real. If you do not believe it, come see for yourself directly in Podbiel.

And once you visit this picturesque corner of Orava, be sure not to miss a trip to another interesting crag, Biela skala. It is a cliff made of Cretaceous limestones, on top of which a prehistoric hillfort once stood in the past. Or would you prefer a museum visit? The small Podbielanské etnografické múzeum will guide you through the history of this distinctive Orava village via its collection. And if you still crave a bit of adventure, head out from Podbiel towards Zuberec. Along the way, you will come across a location where you can try an experiential Jazda na tanku (tank ride). A real armored personnel carrier will take you on a journey through rugged terrain that will make your blood run cold. Book your accommodation near Červená skala in Podbiel now and set out to explore Orava. Accommodation in Podbiel and its surroundings will guaranteed delight you with a wide selection of chalets and cottages, offering something for everyone.

Do you know the famous statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro? It is renowned all over the world and was long the tallest statue of Jesus in the world. Did you know that we have its copy in Slovakia? Indeed, we do. In Orava, above the village of Klin in the Námestovo district, a statue of Jesus Christ rises to the heavens. It is the third copy of the famous Brazilian statue in Rio, and it is definitely worth visiting.

The statue of Jesus Christ stands on the Grapa hill. It is the work of a local folk sculptor, Peter Ganobjak, who began working on it in November 2008. It was funded by Mr. Jozef Sroka and stands on land belonging to the parents of priest Florián Volf. The iron structure for the statue was crafted by the artist in his workshop. Then, they poured concrete into it and hauled it up the hill. Here, using only an ax and a mattock, sculptor Ganobjak carved the statue of Jesus Christ.

This truly magnificent work of art has a height of 9.5 meters. The statue spreads its arms 7 meters wide, pointing across the entire length and breadth of Orava. Grapa hill provides an ideal location for the statue of Jesus Christ. Not only is it visible from afar, but in good weather, you can see in all directions from the top. During the climb, you will be presented with a view of Námestovo, the well-known Oravská priehrada reservoir, Suchá hora, the Roháče mountains, and you can see as far as the Polish town of Zakopane.

Together with its pedestal, the statue of Jesus Christ weighs up to 23 tons. It is painted white, attracting tourists from a distance. The surroundings of the statue are nicely landscaped. Fruit trees are planted here, and you will find a mini-amphitheater, a gazebo, and benches for rest or prayer. In spring, the statue is surrounded by flowers, and Christians travel to it from all over the world. A year after its installation, a chapel was also built beneath the statue of Christ. Later, a statue of Pope John Paul II kneeling in prayer before Christ was added.

You can reach the statue of Jesus Christ in Klin directly from the village. You pass by the soccer field and park in the parking lot below Grapa hill. From there, a Way of the Cross leads all the way to the top. Stop and admire the beauty of nature and this amazing monument created by human hands.

The first Slovak drive-in cinema was opened on the shores of the Oravská priehrada, beloved by tourists, in 2016. The creators' intention was to bring something new, unique, and interesting in the field of entertainment and culture to Orava. They truly succeeded. The only cinema of its kind in our country projects onto a projection screen measuring 12 x 6 m. The parking area is cascaded, which ensures excellent visibility from the comfort of your car. There are 65 parking spaces suitable for passenger cars and SUVs. Movie sound is provided via an FM transmitter. You simply tune your car radio to the drive-in cinema's frequency and enjoy a great movie experience.

To create the perfect atmosphere, delicious popcorn, popular chips, sticks, or a glass of a well-chilled drink naturally cannot be missing. Snack sales are therefore provided within the drive-in cinema area.

Do you love movies and entertainment? Definitely don't miss the opportunity to visit the drive-in cinema during your holiday in Orava. While swimming in the Oravská priehrada or a boat trip to Slanický ostrov umenia will make your day more pleasant, a good movie in an unconventional setting will reliably take care of a pleasant evening program. Orava is a region intertwined with holiday opportunities. Book your accommodation near Autokino Orava and spend your summer holiday right here. Accommodation in Námestovo is particularly popular for its offer of cottages and chalets near the water surface of the visited "Oravian Sea".

You surely know the ski resorts in Vysoké Tatry, Donovaly, and Jasná. These are large and well-known resorts, but they are not the only ones. You can also find many treasures and beautiful corners in smaller or less visited locations. If your wandering shoes lead you to the heart of Orava, try skiing at Ski park Racibor.

You will find Ski park Racibor just a stone's throw from Oravský hrad. It lies only about 1 km from Oravský Podzámok, a village home to one of our most famous castles. The resort lies in the middle of beautiful and pristine Orava nature. It is located in the Oravská Magura mountain range, and the highest point of the resort is at an altitude of approximately 750 meters above sea level. Its location in northern Slovakia in Orava brings abundant snow and guarantees good skiing even at lower altitudes.

Do you think this is just some tiny, secluded resort that has nothing to offer? Racibor offers up to 7 km of slopes. Even some more renowned Slovak resorts cannot boast such a total length. The resort caters to a wide spectrum of skiers, offering a balanced mix of easy and intermediate slopes.

To ensure you can ski to your heart's content, the resort features 2 ski lifts, 1 chairlift, and naturally a children's lift for the little ones. Alongside it, there is a ski school that can introduce you, or perhaps just the youngest ones, to the beauty of skiing. The mentioned chairlift is over one kilometer long, ensuring that even more demanding skiers will not miss out. Right next to the chairlift runs the longest slope of the resort, reaching a length of 1,600 meters. The resort has built an artificial snowmaking system, though not covering the entire area, it can still guarantee a full-fledged skiing experience.

It was not designed only for skiers, but also for snowboarders and cross-country skiers. For the former, there is a lift in the upper part of the resort with a snowboard park. Cross-country skiers will appreciate the cross-country trails in the immediate vicinity of the resort. Racibor truly strives to accommodate everyone.

Of course, the resort also comes with complete amenities, such as snack bars, a restaurant, and parking lots. When you get hungry, have no fear. You will get to taste various Orava specialties here.

You might visit Racibor for just a day, but if you wish to stay longer, you will need accommodation. Finding that in Orava is no problem. There are many cottages near the slopes, or in nearby Oravský Podzámok, you can find plenty of private accommodations and guesthouses. You will be close not only to the snow and skiing, but also to history. Take advantage of this unique combination.

A sightseeing boat cruise on Oravská priehrada is one of the interesting options to spice up your trip in this picturesque region. Whether you are a group of friends looking for adventure, seniors on a relaxing holiday, or a family with children on an active trip, you are guaranteed to enjoy the boat.

Oravská priehrada lies in the north of Slovakia, in the popular and sought-after Orava region. In addition to swimming in the reservoir, you can also try some less traditional entertainment. Yachting, windsurfing, or perhaps just a boat cruise. So, will you let yourself be persuaded?

During the cruise, you will enjoy views of the beauty of the surrounding area, as well as the Západné Tatry and Babia hora. It is interesting to look at the shore from the opposite side; it gives a feeling of a „holiday vibe“. During the cruise, you will also have the opportunity to discover Slanický ostrov umenia, where you will make a 25-minute stop during the cruise. It is a beautiful place that stands here as a remnant of the flooded village of Slanica. It features plenty of greenery, the preserved Kostol Povýšenia sv. Kríža, the torso of the original cemetery, and a lapidarium of „Oravská kamenárska tvorba 18. a 19. storočia“.

However, you do not have to view the sightseeing cruise strictly just as a tour of the surroundings from the water surface. Try planning a teambuilding event or corporate party on the boat, of course with provided refreshments and a program. Similarly, such a form of entertainment would also be appreciated by students who could experience an experiential school trip on it.

Your stay on the boat, including the break on Ostrov umenia, will last 1.5 hours. If it feels too short, you are welcome to repeat it. After all, every single boat cruise always has a unique atmosphere. You feel every single wave differently, the wind rustles your hair, sun rays stroke your face, you sway to the rhythm of recorded or live music, and on top of that, you enjoy that amazing feeling of freedom that the cruise brings.

The boat departs from Námestovo. However, coming to Oravská priehrada for just under two hours is quite little. Since you are already here, make it a full-fledged holiday with everything that belongs to it. Tips for attractions in Orava can be found on our website, and you can also directly book nice accommodation near the sightseeing boat cruise on Oravská priehrada. Just click on the accommodation in Námestovo, or accommodation Orava, and choose the right one for you.

Orava remains one of the most appealing regions of Slovakia to this day. It possesses a certain magic and mystery, inviting tourists to explore its beauty. In some respects, it keeps up with modern times, while in others, you can still feel the breath of centuries past. And you can enjoy this unique blend even in winter.

An ideal starting point is the area around the famous village of Terchová, where, according to legend, Slovakia's most renowned highwayman, Jánošík, once operated. Located approximately 10 km from Terchová and 20 km from Dolný Kubín is the traditional Orava village of Zázrivá. Directly above it rises the Kozinec mountain, home to the ski resort of the same name. Ski centrum Kozinec is set in the fairy-tale, virtually untouched nature of the Orava region. South of the ski resort lies one of Slovakia's most beautiful national parks, Malá Fatra, where you can also set off on several highly interesting hikes.

Let us return to the Kozinec ski resort itself. Its grounds span altitudes between 650 and 995 meters above sea level. While this may not be the highest elevation you will encounter, the favorable climatic conditions of Orava will quickly dispel any concerns. As one of the coldest and most precipitation-rich regions in Slovakia, you need not worry about a lack of snow.

The slopes are regularly groomed, and the resort offers skiing opportunities for all skill levels. Beginners can use the blue slope, the easiest route, which is also the longest run in the resort at approximately 2 km. There are numerous trails available for intermediate skiers, offering a variety of downhill options. Last but not least, there is something for the most experienced skiers as well: the resort features two black-rated slopes that will satisfy even seasoned veterans.

Even though you may not have heard of Ski centrum Kozinec before, it is by no means a small operation. The total length of all ski runs reaches up to 5 kilometers, offering plenty of variety for a full day of skiing for everyone. A pleasant bonus of the resort is its favorable skipass pricing.

In terms of additional amenities, Ski centrum Kozinec holds its own against the competition. It features a ski school, ski equipment rental, a snowboard park with various obstacles, a snack bar, a restaurant, slope-side accommodation options, as well as three parking lots right by the ski lifts.

Accommodation options are available directly within the ski resort area or in the nearby village of Zázrivá, located just 3 km away. The village provides further lodging capacity in guesthouses, private rooms, or charming wooden cabins and cottages. In the heart of Orava, everyone can easily find the perfect place to stay.

The opportunity to fly like Superman above the treetops has now been prepared for visitors in Orava as well. Zipline Kubínska, as the name suggests, is located on Kubínska hoľa. The second highest peak of Oravská Magura rises directly above the town of Dolný Kubín, which represents the regional, cultural, and historical center of Orava. The well-known ski resort is a venue for real adventures during the summer season, among which a fast rope ride undoubtedly belongs.

The longest and most modern zipline in Central and Eastern Europe boasts an incredible length of 1,234 m. A chairlift will comfortably take you to the start of the adrenaline ride. Here, you will be equipped with a harness with safety devices and a protective helmet, and the adventure can begin. You will let yourself be carried away at an incredible speed of 105 km/h at a height of 29 m above the ground. A ride that makes the blood run cold even for the bravest is completely safe. Zipline Kubínska is among the most modern and safest attractions of its kind in the world. It is equipped with an electronic anti-collision system, and trained staff will also take care of your safety. You just let yourself drift on a wave of adventure.

Zipline Kubínska is not sought after only by adrenaline enthusiasts. Families with children also gladly come here. The zipline allows for tandem rides. Your little ones can slide down together with you, an older sibling, or another adult. Each of you will be suspended in your own harness, but you will ride on a shared pulley. An independent ride on the zipline is possible for individuals with a minimum weight of 30 kg. The maximum load capacity of the rope is 130 kg.

If you feel like spicing up your summer vacation with a real adrenaline adventure, definitely do not miss out on the rope ride on Kubínska hoľa. Alternatively, bring your mountain bike along and visit the local Bike park as well. The icing on the cake of your holiday adventure on Kubínska hoľa will undoubtedly be the enchanting views. From its summit, you will have not only the town of Dolný Kubín, but also Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra, the Vysoké Tatry and Nízke Tatry, Veľký Choč, and Oravské Beskydy right in the palm of your hand. Accommodation Kubínska Hoľa offers visitors, in particular, a wide range of cottages and chalets situated in the beautiful Orava countryside.

It may seem like something out of a sci-fi movie to you, but the opposite is true. Letting loose on an adrenaline-pumping tank ride in the village of Podbiel is amazing. This village in Orava will win you over precisely because of this experience. We recommend coming as a larger group, two families with children or a group of friends.

Getting carried away on an armored personnel carrier of an infantry fighting vehicle is great. Put simply, you ride a tank. Every enthusiast seeking something unconventional will be thrilled. Right before boarding the ride, you will receive a brief briefing and off you go. This 13-ton vehicle, 7 meters in length and reaching a maximum speed of 65 km/h, will captivate you. Streams, forest, demanding and rugged terrain…

Can't imagine it? No problem, book your first ride during the summer holidays. A minimum of 8, a maximum of 20 passengers, and a total ride of 3 kilometers. The attraction is thus suitable for team building, or as part of one of the activities during a stay in Northern Slovakia. You will see what joy you bring yourself with this experience. Even several years later, you will remember how you held on tightly with your hands to the metal armored vehicle.

An interesting thing about the ride is that for an unforgettable experience, it is good to choose the right spot. Inside the tank, metal tubes, grab bars, are installed across 5 sections. Children under one meter tall board the first section. This is for their better view thanks to an installed bench. In the second section, larger children and pregnant women are placed. The third section is laid-back. In the fourth and fifth sections, it feels like a party full of dancing.

We believe that this ride will entertain you and that you will feel like exploring Podbiel from its other sides as well. Consider the possibility of finding accommodation near the tank ride or in its surroundings. A somewhat less demanding activity is a walk through the complex of original folk architecture, Pamiatková rezervácia Bobrova raľa or raft logging on wooden rafts. We recommend booking accommodation in Podbiel well in advance; after all, traditional Podbielske drevenice cottages are very popular.

Would you like to experience a unique and high-quality skiing trip? Do you not know where to go because you already know almost all the well-known resorts? Perhaps you have missed one. It is slightly off the main routes in Slovakia, but it is well worth a visit. If you are traveling near Dolný Kubín in winter, make a stop here.

You will be welcomed by Ski Park Kubínska hoľa, a ski resort in Oravská Magura with a stunning view. You can see the long slopes from the town of Dolný Kubín itself, and skiing on them is truly worth it. Orava is famous for its piles of snow, and you will enjoy plenty of it at Kubínska hoľa. Add to that the magnificent views of the Chočské vrchy mountains, as well as the Západné Tatry and Nízke Tatry mountains, and you would be hard-pressed to find better skiing.

The highest point of the ski resort is at an altitude of 1400 meters. The southern orientation of the slopes is a surprise, because despite the constant sunshine, the snow lasts surprisingly long. The modern artificial snowmaking system also helps, and the ski season is guaranteed to extend into the spring.

The Kubínska hoľa ski resort is among the larger ones in Slovakia. You will find 14 km of slopes of all difficulty levels here. You can ski with small children, complete beginners, intermediate skiers, sports skiers, as well as freeride enthusiasts looking for pristine powder. It is an incredibly complex resort where you can truly find everything. And as if that were not enough, add another 10 km of groomed tracks for cross-country skiing, and you have the resort of your dreams.

The resort's greatest pride is its second-longest slope, where you can try out all possible inclines. It leads through blue, red, and black sections. Its length is an impressive almost 3 km, and riding it in one go requires a dose of strength and skill. Yes, that was only the second-longest slope. The absolute longest one is also suitable for beginners; it has a gentler incline and is up to 4 km long. Some ski resorts do not even reach that length, and here we are still talking about just one slope. Your comfort will be taken care of by 8 lifts and 2 chairlifts.

Artificial snowmaking, night skiing with a view of the illuminated Dolný Kubín at night, snack bars, ski schools, restaurants, various obstacles in the children's area, or a snowboard school are a matter of course. Kubínska hoľa is prepared for a large influx of skiers, and its capacity of up to 9000 visitors per hour is sufficient. Thanks to the long kilometers of slopes, you do not have to worry about any congestion.

Given that Kubínska hoľa towers over one of the most important towns in all of Orava, you will have absolutely no problem finding accommodation. From cheap tourist hostels and typical mountain wooden cottages to more luxurious guesthouses, you will find everything here. Prepare your skis and head out. Ski Park Kubínska hoľa offers world-class skiing at affordable prices.

Do you love nature, active relaxation, and interesting sports challenges? Let us invite you to Adventure golf in Zázrivá. This lower Orava village, located in the Dolný Kubín district, has prepared a real sports treat for its visitors. It is not minigolf, nor is it traditional golf. So what is it really about? It is classic golf with preserved terrain obstacles, but in a miniature size. Can't imagine it? Accept our invitation to Adventure golf below Veľký Rozsutec and try this alternative to the noble sport.

In Zázrivá, golf is played on an 18-hole adventure golf course with artificial turf. It is the first course of its kind in Slovakia. Players here receive golf balls, classic golf clubs, and minigolf putters. During their game, they will encounter various terrain irregularities, water hazards, and sand bunkers, much like on a full-sized golf course. This fun sports activity originating from North America has become a popular recreational sport and family entertainment. The golf course in Zázrivá is visited not only by groups of enthusiasts seeking fun, but also by families with children who enjoy spending time together here. All golf performances in Zázrivá are watched over by the majestic Veľký Rozsutec, which completes the beautiful natural scenery of this place.

And how is Adventure golf played? Individuals or groups of players can join the game. The maximum recommended capacity for one hole is 4 players. The playing area consists of 18 holes numbered sequentially, which must be followed during play. The goal of the game is to get the ball into the hole with the fewest number of strokes. The winner is the player who achieves the lowest total number of strokes across all holes. Will you manage to get the balls into the hole while avoiding all the hazards of the course? If your ball ends up in the sand or water, you can try playing from there. Alternatively, you can place the ball 15 cm from the edge of the obstacle. You will receive a penalty point for this, but don't let it discourage you. The main goal of this game is not to win, but to have great fun in the company of family or friends.

If your travels through lower Orava bring you to Zázrivá, be sure not to miss this unique adventure on the golf course. And when you conquer all 18 holes, set off on a trip to nearby Terchová. Here you can go on an extremely popular hike through Jánošíkove diery, take a walk to the impressive Socha Juraja Jánošíka monument, or visit Mini ZOO Terchová, which will put a smile on the faces of the youngest visitors in particular. Accommodation in Zázrivá mostly offers stylish chalets and cottages, which traditionally belong to the character of this distinctive region.

Františkova huta is located in Orava, in the Tvrdošín district. Although cadastrally it belongs to the village of Nižná, the entire building is owned by the village of Podbiel. It is the ruin of a factory hall of a former ironworks. The ironworks (huta) is among the most significant industrial revolution monuments in Orava. The fact that Juraj Jakubisko's films The Millennial Bee (Tisícročná včela) and An Ambiguous Report about the End of the World (Nejasná správa o konci sveta) were filmed here certainly adds to its attractiveness.

The establishment of Františkova huta dates back to 1836, when its construction began under the supervision of the builder, the Briton Newbuild. Permission for its construction was granted as early as 1819, 16 years after the opening of three iron ore mines in Podbiel. Construction lasted 19 years and was never finished. The ironworks was in operation until 1862, when it ceased to exist due to changing social conditions. Mines belonging to the Orava estate took care of the ore supply, delivering it from Zuberec, Habovka, Malatiná, and Juráňova dolina.

From the complex, which in its time was quite extensive, a blast furnace with an original height of approximately 12 meters has been preserved. In addition to it, visitors will also see the foundations of a hammer mill (skujňovacia huta), the remains of a water raceway, a blower chamber, and the perimeter walls of the hall made of fired brick in which the aforementioned blast furnace was located.

It is assumed that Františkova huta was among the most significant attractions of upper Orava. It featured top-tier processing at a level that competed even with ironworks abroad. It carries a message as well as a powerful story from the times of the industrial revolution, about the industrial development of the entire region, manufacture, and production. In 1963, it was declared a national cultural monument.

Every year, both tourists and locals are drawn here by the music festival Orava Alternative. It is always organized on the first weekend of August. At the end of August, a medieval and Old Slavic day takes place here, where you can come to watch demonstrations of original iron processing. The advantage of the site is mainly the fact that it is accessible via a few minutes' walk along the main road from Podbiel towards Oravský Biely Potok.

Although it is a ruin, visually it is very handsome and fits seamlessly into the beautiful surrounding environment. Children can play conquerors, knights, and princesses here, because that is exactly the impression the ironworks evokes. It is simply a majestic work that, thanks to activists and the promise of the village of Podbiel, is not falling into decay, but is maintaining at least its current form.

To be as close to Františkova huta as possible, book a stay on the pages accommodation Podbiel, accommodation Zuberec, or accommodation Nižná and set out on a trip. It is not time-consuming at all, so during your stay you will also manage to visit other attractions in Orava; Františkova huta, however, definitely belongs among those that are worth not missing out on.

If you like horses, we invite you to Jazdecký areál Húšť, located in the village of Dlhá nad Oravou, in the Dolný Kubín district. Head to this interesting place and enjoy the view of the beautiful Orava nature from horseback. You can find Jazdecký areál Húšť on the premises of Agrodružstvo Dlhá.

Do you have respect for this powerful and noble animal? Let yourself be taken on a horse-drawn carriage. Treat yourself to this extraordinary experience in both summer and winter. However, do not forget to book your horse or carriage ride in advance by phone.

In addition to recreational horseback riding, experienced instructors at the equestrian club also mentor young talents. The youngest riders start by grooming, feeding, cleaning, and saddling the horse. This is followed by moving around the horse so that it warms up and relaxes. Only after that do the exercises or riding begin. Young riders who want to pursue this sport professionally start with vaulting first, which is essentially gymnastics on horseback. Only later do they proceed to horse dressage and more demanding exercises.

During the summer season, the equestrian club organizes the Výstava koní Orava horse exhibition, bringing together horse lovers and breeders from all over Slovakia. This exhibition is a showcase of horses of all breeds bred in the Orava region and the surrounding area. Visitors can look forward to a rich side program, refreshments, and a raffle.

Orava is a beautiful region with many interesting attractions. Raft logging on wooden rafts in Oravský Podzámok is among the most sought-after attractions during the summer season. After raft logging, visit Oravský hrad castle, which stands proudly atop a 112-meter majestic cliff. Did you know that the movie Thomas the Falconer was filmed at the castle? You do not have to travel far for accommodation. Accommodation near Jazdecký areál Húšť can be found on our accommodation Dlhá nad Oravou page. In winter, it is great to treat yourself to just a short walk after skiing at the local ski resort Orava Snow, and then head to accommodation near the vyhliadková veža Oravská Lesná. The offer of accommodations in Oravská Lesná is rich.

Harsh climatic conditions prevailing in Orava made life difficult for locals for centuries. During harsh winters, staying warm and securing food was a struggle. If you are an avid skier, you will appreciate all these former hardships. After all, you want piles of snow and well-groomed slopes with plenty of natural snow, don't you? And that is precisely what you will find in Orava.

Just a few kilometers from the famous Oravská priehrada dam lies the town of Tvrdošín. You may have heard of it. It is famous above all for its all-wooden church, which is even listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Neighboring Tvrdošín is the village of Nižná nad Oravou. Often, you will also come across the name Nižná. It is right here that a remarkably pleasant ski resort is located.

The ski resort Ski centrum Nižná Uhliská is located in the Skorušinské vrchy mountains, which regularly enjoy abundant snowfall. Thanks to this, you will also get to ski on entirely natural snow, not just its artificial replacement. The ski area is not among the smallest resorts. The slopes span altitudes ranging from 617 to 857 meters above sea level. The trails end at the top of Prasatín, where you will find a snack bar with refreshments and a beautiful view of the valley. A relatively high elevation gain guarantees quality skiing even for more advanced skiers. Beginners will find plenty to enjoy in the lower part of the resort.

Ski centrum Nižná Uhliská is a balanced ski area where the whole family will find something to enjoy. In other resorts, beginners are confined to the bottom area only. That is also true in Nižná, but it offers even more. You can bypass practically every more demanding slope with an easier alternative. Thanks to this, you will find plenty of blue trails here designed for beginners. Advanced skiers will certainly find plenty to enjoy as well, with a red, medium-difficulty slope of grand proportions prepared for them. It is the longest trail in the resort, reaching a respectable 1,400 meters. For lovers of adrenaline skiing on steep slopes, Nižná offers a black section of trail with a length of almost 700 meters. In total, you will find almost 3.5 km of trails here, which is a respectable number.

Transport in the resort is handled by four ski lifts, which are more than sufficient. Beginner skiers will be taken care of by excellent instructors from the ski school. If you do not bring skis with you, you can easily rent them right on the slope. In the stylish restaurant, you will taste many Orava delicacies. And the most persistent skiers will be overjoyed when the lights turn on in the resort in the evening and they can enjoy an extra portion of night skiing.

Nižná is a sought-after tourist center in winter. In the village, you will find all kinds of accommodation to your taste. There are plenty of private rooms and cottages that can accommodate even larger groups. Alternatively, you can stay in guesthouses or a hotel right by the slope with a wellness center. Orava has many faces, and when you want to see its winter face, the ski resort Ski centrum Nižná Uhliská is a good choice.

The wooden Kostol Všetkých svätých church in Tvrdošín is the oldest surviving architectural monument in the town. This church is the only one in Slovakia to boast the EUROPA NOSTRA award from 1995 and, at the same time, an inscription on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List from 2008.

The history of the church dates back to the 15th century. Later, in the 17th century, specifically between 1650 and 1653–1654, it was rebuilt in the Renaissance style. Rare is the Baroque altar, which originates from the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries and replaced a smaller Gothic altar. Some of its fragments are housed in the Oravská galéria in Dolný Kubín, as well as in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. Behind the Baroque altar is a painted church curtain that symbolically divides the depiction of the sky.

Other gems in the interior of the church include a Late Renaissance pulpit featuring figures of the Evangelists (1654), a painted stallum (1654), a painting of St. George, and paintings of the Apostles. The incredible and at the same time mysterious atmosphere is sensitively enhanced by vaulted paintings depicting a starry sky and angels. Visitors will be captivated by the coffered ceiling consisting of 49 ornamental rosettes. The entire noble design of the church is underlined by heavy entrance doors with forged iron handles. These were originally painted with ornaments as well, just like the door to the sacristy. The church underwent extensive reconstruction and restoration work in 1993.

The church is located in a pleasant, quiet spot slightly above the town of Tvrdošín, near the cemetery. Even just sitting for a moment and immersing yourself in your own thoughts acts almost like a balm for the soul. It is advisable to arrange a tour in advance.

Find quality accommodation near the wooden Kostol Všetkých svätých church and combine your visit with other attractions in the area. Take a multi-day trip to the attractions in Tvrdošín and you will experience a truly wonderful holiday. Beautiful nature, rich history, and above all, a breathtaking wooden church that has no equal. These are the main draws of the area that you will experience when you book a stay on the accommodation Tvrdošín page.

Since 2015, Slovakia and Poland have been connected by the Cyklochodník Trstená - Nowy Targ cycle path. Take your two-wheeled companion on a relatively easy cycling trail and make the most of a sunny day in Orava.

The official name of the cycle route is Historicko-prírodno-kultúrna cesta okolo Tatier (Historical-Nature-Cultural Trail Around the Tatras), also known as Oravská Cyklomagistrála. The cycle route begins in the town of Trstená and ends in Nowy Targ. The total elevation gain on the route is 180 meters, making it accessible for families with children as well. The total length of a one-way trip is 40 km; therefore, if you decide to head straight back without staying in one of the accommodation facilities in Nowy Targ, you will cover a total of 80 km.

Hop on your bikes directly in Trstená and follow the smooth asphalt road, 2 to 4 meters wide, straight toward Poland. You will pass Liesek with a drinking water source, Čimhová, Vitanová, Hladovka, and Suchá Hora. The latter is right on the border with our neighbors. Should you feel tired or need to replenish your energy, numerous rest areas with magnificent panoramic views of Západné Tatry await you along the trail. A total of 11 information boards with various interesting facts are placed along the entire route. You can also come across a Stations of the Cross in Liesek on our side, with another one located in Poland. So put your feet on the pedals of your e-bike or traditional bicycle and push on!

After crossing the border, the route continues through the villages of Koniówka, Podczerwone, Czarny Dunajec, Wróblówka, Rogoźnik, Ludźmierz, and ends in the aforementioned Nowy Targ. If you are not a recreational cyclist and prefer new challenges, you can also connect to another cycle route from this trail, for example to Zakopané.

An interesting feature of the route is that it runs along the embankment of a former railway line that previously connected these two towns. In some sections, you can even catch a glimpse of an old railway station, so there is no need to be surprised. A great advantage in the town of Trstená is the bike storage box, allowing you to set off on a hiking trip in the surrounding area.
