Kúpele Nimnica spa is located at an altitude of 300 m a.s.l., in the valley of the Váh river, between the towns of Púchov and Považská Bystrica. It ranks among the youngest Slovak spas, with some calling it the "mineral pearl of Slovakia." Mineral springs of rather cooler water (10–15 °C) enriched with magnesium, potassium, sodium, iodine, chlorine, calcium, iron, and free carbon dioxide have a beneficial effect on the treatment of patients. They come here with indicated circulatory and digestive tract diseases, oncological diseases, metabolic and endocrine disorders, non-tubercular respiratory diseases, nervous system diseases, gynecological diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, and occupational diseases.
When clean, salty, sparkling water was discovered during the deepening of the Váh riverbed in 1953, the history of Kúpele Nimnica began to be written. Analyses and surveys were conducted to determine its composition. As workers continued to construct the Nosická vodná nádrž reservoir, they drank the gushing water. Even then, its healing effects were discovered, which water analyses only confirmed. The water has a beneficial effect both externally and internally. And although the spa has been operating for only a "few" years (since 1959) compared to older Slovak mainstays, it has rightfully earned its place as a true healing location from which people leave healthier, more energetic, and happier.
