Ski Pod Bufarkom

Ski Pod Bufarkom

Spišské Hanušovce

An excellent family atmosphere prevails on the slopes of the Ski areálu pod Bufarkom. Where can you find such a place? Well, in Zamagurí in the village of Spišské Hanušovce. The ski resort, whose base station is located at an altitude of 650 m a. s. l., is intended primarily for families with children and all those who are just starting to dedicate themselves to this wonderful winter sport.

The area is also known under the name of the Gemza ski resort, and you can ski here on three easy-difficulty slopes. Smooth transport in the resort is ensured by 2 F10-type ski lifts with lengths of 450 and 160 m. Both are intended for beginners and undemanding skiers who want to enjoy a peaceful skiing experience. An interesting fact is that the local lifts, which had been decaying for a long time, were put back into operation by a retiree, Mr. Jozef Gemza. He repaired the lifts, purchased the necessary equipment, and skiers can once again be seen on the hill that used to stand empty. The ski resort caters mainly to children and youth, regularly organizing ski courses and various interesting competitions or races. Children can train their skiing proficiency here, and the youngest ones can slide down on sleds or plastic snow sliders.

Take your significant other for night skiing and enjoy romance in pairs. The slopes are regularly groomed by a snowcat, and artificial snowmaking is available when needed. Sanitary facilities, a ski rental, and a free parking lot are a matter of course. In case hunger or thirst surprises you on the track, refresh yourself in the buffet directly on the slope.

After a super day of skiing, warm up in a romantic cottage directly in the village. If you want to check out the entire offer of accommodation near Ski pod Bufarkom, visit our website accommodation in Spišské Hanušovce. Splav Dunajca na pltiach

Splav Dunajca na pltiach

Červený Kláštor

Dunajec is a river creating a 17 km long border line between Slovakia and Poland. It drains its waters from Slovakia all the way to the Baltic Sea. It is a typically mountain river that has a variable flow and ranks among the cleanest rivers in Central Europe.

It was already an important transport hub in the past. In the 2nd century, Greek and Roman merchants traveled along it to the Baltic in search of amber. Later, the Germans and Slavs used it to transport goods and people to the Baltic Sea and the Vistula region. This road lining the Dunajec is called the Soľná cesta (Salt Road) and was reconstructed between 1908 and 1917. In the famous Prielom Dunajca gorge, the river has carved a canyon through limestone crags. It is a protected nature reserve covering an area of 360 ha, which is a floristically and landscape-aesthetically very significant area.

Rafting on the Dunajec on wooden rafts is a tourist attraction that has been very popular for years. On the Polish side, it starts in the village of Sromowce Wyżne and ends in the village of Krościenko nad Dunajcem. On the Slovak side, the raft trip starts in the village of Majere or Červený Kláštor and ends in the village of Lesnica.

Rafting on the Dunajec from Červený Kláštor to the state border near Lesnica on wooden rafts takes from 90 to 120 minutes. The attraction operates only from April to October. It is a 10 km long route that offers you a cross-section of beautiful natural scenery during the float. You can observe the calm as well as more or less rippling waters of the Dunajec, rock overhangs, and the beauty of Pieniny nature. Before entering the Pieniny canyon, you will be welcomed by Tri koruny, the symbol of Pieniny. During the float, you will find yourself next to a rock wall tens of meters high, which is shrouded in ancient local legends. You will learn about petrified womanizing monks who used to visit a Polish nun, as well as about Juraj Jánošík crossing the Dunajec while being chased by gendarmes.

The return trip to Červený Kláštor is possible by shuttle transport, but we recommend that you use the educational trail route instead. You can complete it on foot within 2 hours or by bicycle, which will take you about half the time. On the trail, there are 10 educational boards with information about the Pieniny fauna and flora.

The raft trip is remarkable and you will learn a lot of interesting things during it. Whether directly from the surrounding nature or from the raft guides' storytelling. It definitely ranks among the trips you should take. Book accommodation near the Dunajec rafting, for example on the village page accommodation Červený Kláštor, plan at least a long weekend here, and visit other surrounding attractions. Trust us, such an experience will delight children, adults, and our seniors, and you will remember it for a long time.

Pieninský národný park

Pieninský národný park

Červený Kláštor

Pieninský národný park can be found in the far north of Slovakia, east of the Vysoké Tatry mountains on the border with Poland. It is located in the districts of Stará Ľubovňa and Kežmarok in the Prešovský kraj region. This smallest Slovak national park covers an area of only 37.5 km². The Pieniny are a beautiful location and, together with the Dunajec river that flows through them, create an unmistakable natural scenery.

Creation of the smallest national park in Slovakia

Pieninský národný park had to wait a long time for its role as a national park. A lot of timber was harvested in the forests here, especially on the Polish side, and the land mostly belonged to private owners. The first historical references point to an interest in creating a protected area in Pieniny in Poland in 1921.

Delimiting the territory was heavily influenced by negotiations between former Czechoslovakia and representatives of Poland in 1925 in Zakopane. Both countries agreed on the principles of the Pieniny border park. The purchasing of land from owners and the setting of the national park's boundaries began. However, this was slowed down by the war and the country's economic situation.

In 1932, at least the Slovenská prírodná rezervácia Pieniny was declared in Červený Kláštor, and Oldřich Lacina became its first administrator. The reserve was under the administration of Štátne lesy in Liptovský Hrádok. Only after World War II did territorial plans, maps, and research into local fauna and flora begin again. In 1957, the Pieninská prírodná rezervácia Červený Kláštor was established, and in 1960, the Náučný chodník Prielom Dunajca educational trail was opened to the public, which was the very first educational trail in Slovakia.

It was not until 10 years later, in 1967, that Pieninský národný park (abbreviated as PIENAP) was established. Today, it falls under the Štátna ochrana prírody headquartered in Banská Bystrica. They say that good things come in small packages, and in this case, it holds perfectly true. Pieninský národný park, with a buffer zone area of just 22,444 hectares, earned its recognition in the end. And even though it is small, it really has a lot to offer.

Parts of Pieninský národný park and their attractions

It is divided into three parts: the western Czorsztynske Pieniny, Malé Pieniny in the eastern part, and Pieninky in the central part. The highest peak is considered to be Tri Koruny at an altitude of 982 m above sea level, whose five rocky summits really look like a royal crown. Other popular ridges among hikers are Sokolica (747 m a.s.l.), Holica (824 m a.s.l.), and Kláštorná hora (654 m a.s.l.).

There are three protected natural reserves located in Pieninský národný park. Probably the most significant is Štátna prírodná rezervácia Pieniny, Prielom Dunajca. This area is particularly attractive for its rocky sections and natural phenomena created by the Dunajec river. Many water sports fans come here for rafting. You can try white-water rafting or wooden raft rides down the Dunajec. And perhaps you will spot a black stork or glimpse an Eurasian otter swimming on the water surface.

In addition to rafting down the Dunajec, a hiking trail with educational boards leads through the gorge. The trail begins in the village of Červený Kláštor and leads all the way to the Polish spa town of Szczawnica. Along the way, you can observe Jánošíkov skok, where the Dunajec narrows and reaches a depth of up to 12 meters. You will also discover the Storočná voda spring, from which, if you drink, you will reportedly live to be 100 years old.

Another protected natural formation of the Pieniny national park is Haligovské skaly. It is a magnificent complex of limestone rocks containing holes, cavities, and caves. The most famous karst cave among them is Aksamitka, which is unfortunately closed to the public. However, you can reach Haligovské skaly via a hiking route, for example from the village of Haligovce.

The last protected reserve of Pieninský národný park is Prielom Lesníckeho potoka. The Lesnícky potok stream flows from the right side of the Dunajec and has formed steep rock walls of Kača, Bystrík, Biela skala, and Osobitá skala. You can reach this natural formation via a hiking trail from the village of Lesnica, or by boat or raft.

The Pieniny region is undoubtedly a great choice for spending an active vacation. It is an ideal place for hikers, as well as for families with children. Some hiking trails are adapted for young visitors. Furthermore, the surroundings of Pieniny offer other attractions that are well worth visiting. And we have prepared a selection of accommodation in Pieninský národný park for you. Choose from a wide range of cottages, apartments, or family guesthouses. Book today so you don't miss out on your stay in the beautiful nature of the Pieniny national park.

Smerdžonka - Kúpele Červený Kláštor

Smerdžonka - Kúpele Červený Kláštor

Červený Kláštor

Kúpele Červený Kláštor Smerdžonka are located in the picturesque area of Pieniny. The local clean air, together with the beautiful environment and healing water, are a beneficial combination that continuously attracts many people. The spa helps treat patients with indicated oncological diseases, metabolic and endocrine disorders, occupational diseases, mental illnesses, and non-tuberculous respiratory diseases.

In the 14th century, Carthusian monks came to the area of the spa, followed later by the Camaldolese. The monks were the first to start using the water springing from the source for medicinal purposes. They recommended drinking it for loss of appetite and digestive tract problems. You certainly know the legend of the flying monk Cyprián, who was one of them. Among other things, he devoted his life to the study of herbs, which resulted in his life's work, the Herbár. In the 19th century, their monastery was abolished, but the healing spring continued to be used. This was thanks to a local miller, a pioneer in his own way, who invented a way to use it for relaxation purposes. He made waiting more pleasant for people waiting to have their harvest ground into flour. He heated the healing water for them in a cauldron and then poured it into a wooden tub. While the flour was being ground, customers enjoyed a pleasant and healing bath.

In the period around 1820, approximately 100 years after its establishment, the spa bore the name Kúpele pod Troma Korunami. The year 1887 was very significant, as it brought its inclusion among the official spas of the Kingdom of Hungary. It was even among the most important spas in Hungary. During World War I, the spa was destroyed, and it was not until 1928 that it was subsequently restored. Spa treatment began to function again, but not for long. The period after World War II marked the end of the spa industry in Červený Kláštor.

Change came in 2010, when the local spring was declared a natural healing source. This resulted in the construction of the Dom zdravia and the restoration of the spa tradition. In 2012, the gates of the new spa were solemnly opened to the public, starting a new chapter of the spa industry in Červený Kláštor. Initially, skin diseases were treated here. Since 2016, thanks to the clean air of Pieniny, the spa has been a climatic spa. This made it possible to expand the list of indicated diseases to all those that Kúpele Smerdžonka currently helps treat.

The Smerdžonka healing spring has moderately mineralized water. It has a high content of minerals and salts, especially sulfur, sodium, magnesium, and calcium. Its use in balneotherapy is significant. Hydrogen sulfide has beneficial analgesic, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory effects. The water is suitable for both full-body and partial baths.

Currently, Kúpele Červený Kláštor provides its clients with a whole range of procedures. Here, you can try mineral, saturated, herbal, and oil tub baths, electrotherapy, ultrasound, solux, oxygen therapy, inhalations, heat therapy, Nordic walking, upper respiratory tract hygiene, UVB phototherapy, bioptron, physiotherapy, respiratory gymnastics, coordination training, exercises with an overball and fitness ball, saunas (Finnish and infrared sauna) with salt therapy, cosmetic procedures, mole examination, liquid nitrogen treatment, remodeling, posture/breathing/gait education, and various types of massages: full body, face, neck, hot stone, reflexology foot massage, and Thai foot massage with sticks. The procedures can be used as part of an entire medical or relaxation stay, or separately and individually.

Kúpele Červený Kláštor Smerdžonka is also a suitable place for gathering with extended family and friends. Whether it is a family celebration, wedding, significant anniversary, school reunion, graduation, christening, or any other important event in your life, you can experience it together at the spa. You will have restaurant facilities, a dance floor, a winter garden, a wooden chalet, or other spaces at your disposal. It just depends on which one you prefer.

The spa is also very popular with companies that organize various events, teambuildings, or congresses here. Naturally, a congress hall equipped with the necessary technology is also available. End your training session with one of the experiential adventures prepared for you at the spa. A genuine homemade pig-slaughtering feast, a Gorál evening, a folk party, or various themed evenings. Which of these will you choose? Tips for health exercises are also very popular; they will be appreciated not only by your employees who sit hunched behind a computer all day. An unusual experience within teambuilding can also be exploring Pieniny, whether in the form of a trip to top attractions, cycling, or an adrenaline-pumping rafting trip on the Dunajec river on wooden rafts or inflatable rafts.

Furthermore, Kúpele Smerdžonka also includes a wellness center and a sports area. You will make use of mini-football, volleyball, and basketball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, and an indoor gym with equipment. You can also spend your free time playing one of the games, just choose. Will it be pétanque, giant chess, Russian skittles, or something completely different? Perhaps you would rather try Kneipp therapy and walk along the balance path. In any case, thanks also to these facilities, the stay is suitable for schools, school trips, and various sports training camps.

How will you spend the rest of your free time during your stay in Červený Kláštor? The possibilities are endless; just choose. If you like hiking, head to Tri koruny or Haligovské skaly. From the seat of a bicycle, you can discover many beauties of Pieninský národný park. The Dunajec river, in turn, offers the opportunity for rafting or wooden raft trips. Prielom Dunajca also has its charm. If you are interested in history, visit the monastery of the Carthusian monks, where a museum is established. You won't be bored in winter either; you will experience great skiing in Vyšné Ružbachy and Bachledova dolina.

So there is nothing left to do but come and see the beauty of Pieninský národný park and, above all, the healing effects of the spa with your own eyes. The page accommodation in Červený Kláštor will help you choose accommodation near Kúpele Červený Kláštor Smerdžonka. You will certainly find the right place to stay here.

There are also several romantic corners in the gorge associated with folk legends. Perhaps the most famous place is Jánošíkov skok. It is a rock at the narrowest point of the Dunajec, where the water reaches a depth of up to 12 meters. On your wanderings, you will also come across the Skalné veže siedmich mníchov rock towers and the legend-shrouded Ostrá skala, from which disobedient subjects were allegedly thrown into the turbulent waters of the Dunajec in ancient times. At the end of the gorge, the karst spring "Storočná voda" gushes forth, which never freezes. Legend has it that whoever drinks from it will live to be a hundred years old. Do you dare to take a sip too?

The educational trail ends at the state border with Poland, in the village of Lesnica. Definitely do not leave without experiencing the Splav Dunajca raft ride. Jezerské jazero

Jezerské jazero

Jezersko

Jezerské jazero lake was named after the small village of Jezersko nearby. The village is located only 15 kilometers from Slovenská Ves, and on the way here, you can enjoy views of the Vysoké Tatry or Belianske Tatry mountains. Lake Jezersko is located below the ridge of Spišská Magura, and this area is also called forgotten by God because it is little known among tourists. So if you long for a peaceful mountain environment and want to enjoy quietness, head to the shores of Jezerské jazero.

The small lake lies at an altitude of 919 m a.s.l. In 1967, it was declared a nature reserve. Water flows here from the surrounding slopes, and its depth is around 2 meters. Jezerský potok stream flows out of the lake. You can reach the lake along a hiking trail either from the village of Jezersko, via a route about 3 kilometers long, or from the popular Bachledova dolina valley.

Some tourists combine a trip to the lake with a walk to Bachledova rozhľadňa lookout tower, which is located on the ridge of Spišská Magura. From here, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the entire lake and its surroundings. Several legends are also connected to Jezerské jazero lake, about spirits living in it or about a powerful force that, according to legend, causes heavy rain when someone cuts down a tree near the lake. Maybe it is true and maybe not, but one thing is certain. The magical turquoise color of the water will surely leave you with a magical feeling.

You can also reach Jezerské jazero lake via a hiking trail from the village of Ždiar, Malá Franková, or Veľká Franková. The Belianske Tatry mountains will thus show themselves to you in all their glory. Benches and an information board about the local fauna and flora have been built near the small lake, where you will learn, for example, that newts live here. Unfortunately, severe windstorms in recent years have taken a toll on the surrounding forest, and it will take several years for new trees to grow here.

The surroundings of Jezersko are tailor-made for an active holiday. In addition to a trip to the lake, you can also enjoy the Chodník korunami stromov treetop walk in Bachledova dolina, or the beautiful Pieninský národný park (Pieniny National Park). For skiers, excellent skiing is also on offer near Jezersko at Bachledka Ski & Sun. Take advantage of the services of our accommodation portal and book accommodation near Jezerské jazero lake, for example on the Bachledova dolina accommodation pages. Discover other interesting tips for attractions in Belianske Tatry as well. Do not wait and set out on an adventure as soon as possible.

Spišská Magura forms a mountain ridge that stretches above the entire village of Ždiar and offers a true skiing paradise. In Ždiar Bachledova dolina - Jezersko, you will find a number of slopes of all difficulty levels. Most of the slopes, more than half, are blue, the least demanding. Therefore, Ždiar is extremely friendly to families with children and complete beginners.

However, even more advanced skiers will not be bored. Intermediate and the most demanding slopes are situated towards Jezersko. This ensures a natural separation of beginner skiers and the better ones. For this reason, no one will be delayed or get in anyone's way anywhere. Beginners are mainly in Bachledova dolina, the more advanced ones in Jezersko.

The entire ski resort is located at an altitude of 820 – 1,160 meters above sea level. It should also be taken into account that there is much more snow in Ždiar than in the entire surrounding area. Nevertheless, the resort is equipped with an artificial snowmaking system, thanks to which the ski season is truly quite long.

In the resort, you will find 5 lifts and 2 chairlifts, with the total length of the slopes being almost 11 km. The longest ski track in the resort is marked in blue, and its length is an impressive 1,950 meters.

The Bachledova dolina - Jezersko resort also offers other possibilities for activities. You can rent skis here or try it with a snowboard. Motor enthusiasts will not miss a ride on a powerful snowmobile. Snowtubing, a ride on inflatable tires down the slope, is also an experience. You can eat in a stylish restaurant, fast food is offered by buffets, and you will warm up in a bar.

To be in Ždiar means to get to know the traditions of the region. It is one of the most distinctive villages with typical architecture and customs. A varied offer of accommodation options is available for them here, from luxurious wellness guesthouses, through family ones, modern apartments, to tourist hostels. Monkova dolina

Monkova dolina

Ždiar

If you are not afraid of a more demanding hike and like to learn something along the way, we will direct you to Ždiar and from there to Monkova dolina, where you can walk an interesting educational trail.

The 5 km long Monkova dolina is situated in the northern part of Belianske Tatry. At the head of this glacier-origin valley rise the peaks Hlúpy and Ždiarska vidla. The valley was named after the once widespread Ždiar surname Monka, although it is not known what relationship the Monka family had to it, whether they were the owners or leased it.

An educational trail leads through Monkova dolina, which is very beautiful, but at the same time demanding. On the more than 8 km long route with 6 stops, you need to expect a steep climb and a large elevation gain (945 m). The trail will guide you from Ždiar across the confluence of the Biela stream and Rígeľský potok, then through Monkova dolina, via Široké sedlo all the way to Kopské sedlo. Along the way, views await you not only of Belianske Tatry, but from Široké sedlo also of Vysoké Tatry. In addition to views of blooming meadows, you might also get the chance to spot chamois. The trail is accessible only from mid-June to the end of October. At the beginning of the route at the mouth of Monkova dolina, an entrance fee must be paid. Completing the trail takes about 4 to 5 hours.

Monkova dolina is not the only place you can head to from Ždiar. Plan a trip to Belasé pleso, or visit Bachledova dolina with Chodník korunami stromov. If you are interested in folk architecture, visit Ľudové múzeum - Ždiarsky dom; for children, Family Park Strachankovo or Svetelný dóm will be a great experience. In Belianske Tatry, discover Belianska jaskyňa as well. And you can enjoy winter on the slopes of resorts directly in Ždiar – Strednica, Krasuľa, Strachan, or Monkova dolina.

For all of this, you will need pleasant accommodation, and there is certainly no shortage of it here. The most common type of accommodation in Ždiar are chalets and traditional wooden houses, which will provide you with complete privacy and very good amenities, making you feel right at home. Practically equipped and well-located are apartments, which can often be found, for example, near ski slopes. Guesthouses also offer very good services, often featuring their own restaurant or even a wellness area. Monkova dolina is already looking forward to you conquering it. Rent comfortable accommodation in Ždiar and set off on an educational hike.

Such an attraction is undoubtedly the Bobová dráha v Bachledovej doline bobsled coaster, which is also the longest bobsled coaster in the Tatras. Are you curious how fast you can speed down the slopes of Bachledova dolina? You control the ride speed yourself using a lever on your bobsled. If you set off with real courage, you can reach up to 40 km/h, the speed of more cautious drivers in villages. The hourly transport capacity of the bobsled coaster is 200 people. Young adrenaline riders will surely enjoy the children's playground located in the immediate vicinity of the track.

Boarding the bobsled coaster is at the top station of the gondola cable car. Access here is directly from Bachledova dolina, a turnoff from the main road between Ždiar and Tatranská Kotlina, or from the village of Malá Franková.

A trip to Bachledova dolina is one of those holiday ideas you will certainly not regret. Alongside the Bobová dráha bobsled coaster, one of the biggest local attractions is the Chodník korunami stromov treetop walk, which offers a walk above the treetops with a gorgeous view of the picturesque forests of Spišská Magura. The temperature in the outdoor pools ranges from 23 to 27 °C, and in the indoor pool, the water temperature is 34 °C. Perhaps the most interesting attraction is a small island with tall conifers located in the middle of the island pool. Within the complex grounds, you will always find a well-maintained grassy area where you can lay out a blanket and peacefully indulge in the sun's rays.

Showers, restrooms, changing rooms, a children's playground, and lifeguard services are a matter of course. Ružbašské krátery

Ružbašské krátery

Stará Ľubovňa

In the village of Vyšné Ružbachy, you can find Kráter, the largest travertine lake in our country. It is part of the Ružbašské krátery, where you will find four large and several smaller craters. These were formed by the collapse of travertine mounds around a healing mineral spring. They are located at an altitude of 620 m above sea level on the grounds of Kúpele Vyšné Ružbachy, near Spišská Magura, in the Stará Ľubovňa district.

The aforementioned Kráter lake has a diameter of approximately 20 m, an almost circular shape, a maximum depth of 3 m, all spanning a water surface area of 300 m². As the only one among the Ružbašské krátery, it is filled with 24 °C warm water, specifically, thermal mineral water rich in calcium. Since 1967, it has been listed among the protected natural formations of Slovakia, and swimming in it is strictly prohibited for this reason.

Another one of the local craters is Kaplnkový kráter, located near the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes. Thanks to its dimensions of 51 × 32 × 4.5 m, it ranks among the largest formations of its kind in our country. Also worth mentioning is the crater named Jama smrti. Like the others (excluding Kráter), this one is a waterless crater and is also known under the name Smerdžonka. And why such a goosebumps-inducing name? Carbon dioxide escapes from it, causing suffocation and loss of consciousness. Falling into the pit has already claimed the lives of several domestic animals belonging to local residents, as well as rodents and birds.

Many tourists bypass the craters because they do not find them interesting without water. However, that is a shame, as they certainly belong among unique natural phenomena. During your travels around Horný Spiš, make time to come and admire them. Allow yourself plenty of time for this; we recommend booking accommodation near Ružbašské krátery. You can find great tips for finding lodging on the page accommodation in Stará Ľubovňa. Enjoy your stay and do not forget to bring friends or family along. After all, wandering through nature brings the best experiences precisely when you do not embark on them alone.

Kúpele Vyšné Ružbachy

Kúpele Vyšné Ružbachy

Vyšné Ružbachy

Kúpele Vyšné Ružbachy spa resort is located in the village of the same name, in the Stará Ľubovňa District. The climatic and mineral spa is situated at an altitude of 617 m above sea level on the southern foothills of the Spišská Magura mountains, in the region of the Tatra mountain ranges. People come here from various corners of Slovakia with indicated oncological diseases, circulatory system diseases, digestive system diseases, metabolic disorders, non-tuberculous respiratory diseases, musculoskeletal diseases, kidney and urinary tract diseases, mental disorders, gynecological conditions, and occupational diseases.

Construction of the spa began in 1595, when the main building, pool, kitchen, dining room, and common room were built. This was during the time of Mayor Sebastián Ľubomirský, appointed by Polish King Casimir. Stanislav Ľubomirský, son of Sebastián, expanded the spa and turned it into an important center for Polish and Hungarian nobility. After the Ľubomirský family line died out, the spa began to decline. This was caused by frequent changes in ownership until it came back under the administration of the Kingdom of Hungary.

It was not until 1825 that it underwent reconstruction thanks to the efforts of Baron von Jony. He had a manor house, a new spa house, and a mirror bath built, and the spa began to come alive again. Subsequently, his son Daniel took care of it, and in 1865 it became the property of the Kežmarok Lyceum until it was purchased in 1882 by Andrzej Zamoyski, a Polish count. In 1923, he had a natural thermal swimming pool built here, which was the largest in Slovakia at the time. From then on, the spa began transforming into one of the most modern in our territory. The Biely dom building was constructed, becoming one of the spa's main landmarks.

The spa even received a highly respected and distinguished visit when the King of Spain and the Prince of Bourbon visited before World War II. This was likely due to the fact that after Zamoyski's death, the spa was inherited by his son Jan and his wife Isabel de Bourbon. Isabel was the niece of the King of Spain. Later, World War II thwarted plans for further expansion of the spa. It was later nationalized, passing under the administration of the ROH (Revolutionary Trade Union Movement) in 1952 and state control in 1957.

The health of patients and clients is taken care of by water from the main thermal spring Izabela, along with water from the thermal spring Jozef (the spring "near the post office"). Izabela is the most yield-abundant spring in all of Europe, with a flow rate of 20 liters per second. Moderately mineralized, lukewarm, calcium-magnesium, hypotonic water flows from it. Jozef, on the other hand, is a spring with cold, moderately mineralized, carbonated drinking water containing an increased proportion of calcium, magnesium, and fluorine. In addition to the main spring, healing water gushes from 14 other slightly less abundant springs.

People also visit Kúpele Vyšné Ružbachy to view the Kráter small lake. This is an interesting natural travertine lake with thermal water. With a diameter of 20 m and a depth of 3 m, it is the largest of its kind in Slovakia. In 1967, it was designated a protected natural creation. It beautifully complements the surroundings of Biely dom, creating a truly eye-pleasing ensemble. In addition, hotel complexes are located here. Wellness services and a restaurant are a matter of course.

Guests can enjoy several different types of procedures at the spa. Water procedures offer a choice of underwater massage, massage pool, thermal sitting pool, carbonated tub bath, bubble bath, Scottish douches, alternating foot bath, swimming, and lower-limb whirlpool bath. Physical therapy procedures include cardiovascular rehabilitation, Nordic walking, hydrokinesiotherapy, fitness, and variously focused physical education. Psychotherapeutic procedures include music therapy, relaxation, EEG biofeedback, HRB biofeedback, and hippotherapy. Other procedures you can undergo include Vacu Well negative-pressure therapy, vibrosauna, manual lymphatic drainage, Pneuven-Bevuk lymphatic drainage, Aquavibron, classic or peat paraffin wraps, sauna, Solux lamp treatment, inhalations, gas injections, Biotherik dry carbonated bath, laser therapy, Bioptron light therapy, solarium, classic electrotherapy or BTL-06 device electrotherapy, hydrogalvanic bath, ultrasound, magnetotherapy, diathermy, diadynamic currents, and classic or reflex massages. Medical examinations are a matter of course.

You can spend your leisure time during your stay at Kúpele Vyšné Ružbachy through active or passive relaxation. Nearby is the Letné termálne kúpalisko Izabela outdoor thermal pool with natural healing water. History lovers should not miss Ľubovniansky hrad castle, Ľubovniansky skanzen open-air museum, Nestville Park, or the Stredoveký vojenský tábor. You can experience fun mixed with a bit of adrenaline while rafting or taking a wooden raft ride on the Dunajec river. Hikers will enjoy the options for walks or hikes in the Pieninský národný park. You won't be bored in winter either, as you can ski at resorts in Vyšné Ružbachy or Stará Ľubovňa.

A stay at Kúpele Vyšné Ružbachy has a beneficial effect on clients. Its secret lies in combining healing carbonated springs with the surrounding enchanted nature, into which the spa is sensitively set. Together, they act on both body and soul, bringing perfect balance. Every visitor leaves the spa healthier, happier, and full of energy and vitality. Skanzen Osturňa

Skanzen Osturňa

Osturňa

Skanzen Osturňa, which lies in the distinctive Zamagurie village in northern Slovakia, in the Kežmarok district, prides itself on the designation of the largest living open-air museum in Slovakia. Since 1979, the village has been a declared Nature Reserve of Folk Architecture. To this day, Osturňa preserves its traditions, "mocking" the modern, fast-paced era full of stress and material goods.

It ranks among Slovak treasures, to which facts contribute such as that it is not artificially created and the residents have preserved certain elements within their history and culture. Whether it is the typical Osturňa dialect called "hvara", the preserved custom of wearing the Goral folk costume, working on one's farm, or traditional cuisine.

The approximately 9 km long village of Osturňa was founded in 1313 and has since gone through many difficult trials. It suffered a plague epidemic, wars, fires, and resisted uprisings. However, it also experienced many positive changes, the development of education, culture, economy, and spiritual life. By 1648, it already had its own church and rectory.

The layout of the village is shaped by the local stream, and there are numerous traditional wooden houses with enclosed yards in an interesting chain-like development. The local architecture is original and based on details that are already apparent thanks to the fact that window frames, corner log ends, and the chinking between them are painted.

Some of the original Gorals homesteads have been preserved in Osturňa. The open-air museum consists of 157 monument-protected buildings, which feature a wooden log house with a shingle-covered gabled roof in the front part of a typical yard, and a barn with a stable in the back part. Significant landmarks include the Greek Catholic late Baroque Chrám sv. Michala archanjela from 1796, the wooden Chapel of the Holy Cross from 1898, and the brick Chapel of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God.

The village lies between two sought-after national parks, Tatranský národný park and Pieninský národný park. Book your accommodation on the village's website accommodation Osturňa and follow in the footsteps of the old Gorals and pristine virgin nature. The Zamagurie region is made for a trip full of experiences and exploration, so be sure not to bypass the open-air museum in Osturňa during your wanderings.

Ski centrum Strachan Ždiar

Ski centrum Strachan Ždiar

Ždiar

Skiing in the Vysoké Tatry is something many people dream about. This highest mountain range in the entire country hides an unexplored corner that many tourists bypass in winter: the Belianske Tatry. High mountains in beautiful nature should not escape the attention of any skier. How about honing your skiing skills right beneath them?

Welcome to the village of Ždiar. The word village is not entirely accurate, as the whole municipality stretches over several kilometers. It lies on the main road leading to the Lysá Poľana border crossing into Poland. Here you will find several ski resorts that are particularly suitable for beginners and families with children. Today, we will introduce a resort where you will feel right at home with friends. The family resort Ski centrum Strachan will impress you mainly with its atmosphere and friendliness.

The resort belongs to a nearby family guesthouse. The owners take exemplary care of it, and even though it does not offer dozens of kilometers of slopes or the most modern cable cars, you will love coming back. In almost the entire surrounding area, you will find nothing better for your children. The blue-marked slopes are suitable mainly for beginners. They are served by 3 ski lifts, which is sufficient for a smaller resort. You will not wait long in line for a lift and might end up skiing even more than elsewhere. The total length of all slopes is nearly 1 kilometer.

Quantity is not what matters, quality is. Even in the smaller Ski centrum Strachan, you will find a modern artificial snowmaking system and lighting for evening skiing. From the slopes of Spišská Magura, where the resort is located, you will enjoy a unique view of the entire Belianske Tatry. You can enjoy this view over a good lunch in the local restaurant or with a unique grilled delicacy from the snack bar. In the meantime, experienced instructors will take care of your little ones. They will ski, run, jump, in short, have fun.

If you tire of downhill skiing, try cross-country skiing. The ridge of Spišská Magura features the most beautiful trails in the entire area. If you felt like just one in a thousand in other resorts, that will change at Ski centrum Strachan. Every customer is treated like royalty. Parking at the resort is free, and there is even a ski bus operating here. If you stay in the adjacent wellness guesthouse, prepare yourself for other pleasant gestures, such as discounts on ski passes or even evening skiing completely free of charge.

Ždiar is a typical village with folk architecture, living off tourism. You can choose accommodation in the nearby guesthouse belonging to the resort or in one of the many others in the village. There are dozens of them, as well as private accommodations in family houses. You will find a hotel, a tourist hostel, and cottages here. In short, everything you could possibly wish for.

During the summer period, in the months of July and August, you can come every day and buy a ticket to the world of adventure. You can roast sausages at the Family Barbecue station, play in the sandbox, watch performances by animators at the amphitheater, or relax in the treehouses. Everyone will be delighted by the animals at the Goral farm. Feed them, pet them, and play with them. Climbing frames are ready for all the children in the park.

Have you heard about the Ždiar legend? People in the village reportedly used to burn charcoal in the past. One of the charcoal burners built his cottage with a window through which the moonlight illuminated it. Others in the village liked it so much that they also built wooden cottages next to the charcoal burner and named the settlement after “Zor”, hence Ždiar. This station is also part of Family park Strachankovo.

After a day full of fun, you can fill your bellies at the local snack bar. If you decide to explore the surroundings further, rent an e-bike. The largest rental shop under the Tatras is located in the park. Since the park is large in size and rich in attractions, you can organize a trip for kindergarten children with us or an experiential tour as part of natural science.

If you decide as a family to visit us from another region, we recommend booking accommodation right near Family park Strachankovo. It is worth taking a pleasant walk to the Svetelný dóm in Ždiar, or riding the bobsled track in Bachledova dolina. The location is situated directly in the mountain village of Ždiar, in the Poprad district, as part of the well-known Strachan Resort. The rental shop features a wide fleet of quality full-suspension and hardtail e-bikes from renowned brands, which are regularly serviced and adapted to the demanding terrain of Tatra cycling routes. The main advantage of this place is its strategic position directly at the starting point of popular routes leading towards Monkova dolina, Spišská Magura, or the border crossings to Poland. The rental staff provides expert advice on choosing the right bike size, adjusts suspension parameters, and acquaints visitors with the operation of the electric motor and battery. The services also include the rental of essential safety equipment and recommendations for optimal routes according to current fitness and weather conditions. Thanks to electric assistance, places with panoramic views that would otherwise be intended only for top athletes during classic cycling become accessible to cyclists. The area is connected to the resort's gastro facilities, allowing visitors to recharge their energy before or after the ride in an authentic Gorals environment.

What can you find here?

On the premises of the rental shop, you will find modern e-bikes for both adults and children, a charging station for e-bikes, and a service corner for minor adjustments before the ride. Complete equipment is available, including helmets, locks, child seats, and cycling maps with marked routes in the surroundings of Ždiar. Visitors can also use the parking lot in close proximity and the sanitary facilities of the Strachan Resort.

Who is the place suitable for?

The rental services are ideal for families with children who want to take trips together in hilly terrain, as well as for recreational cyclists looking for comfort and the joy of movement without excessive physical exhaustion. It is also sought after by seniors, for whom e-bikes enable a return to mountain trails, and nature lovers who want to manage to visit several more distant locations in a single day. Given the demanding nature of the terrain, basic bicycle handling skills are recommended.

What can you visit in the surroundings?

A short ride away is the Belianska jaskyňa in Tatranská Kotlina or the distinctive village of Osturňa, which is a conservation reserve of folk architecture. Belianska jaskyňa

Belianska jaskyňa

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Underground worlds have fascinated people since time immemorial. Caves provided shelter, and today they are sought-after tourist attractions. If you are planning a holiday to Vysoké Tatry or to Zamagurie, pay close attention. You should not miss a visit to Belianska jaskyňa under any circumstances.

Belianska jaskyňa lies near the village of Tatranská Kotlina. You can reach it from Tatranská Lomnica or from Spišská Belá. It is located on the left side of the road in the Kobylí vrch massif. There are several caves in Vysoké Tatry, but Belianska jaskyňa is the only one open to the public. It features rich dripstone decoration and is well worth a tour. An educational trail leads up to it. In less than a kilometer, you will pass information boards that will familiarize you with environmental protection, flora, fauna, and the history of the cave itself.

The cave was discovered by gold prospectors as early as 1826, but it was subsequently forgotten. It was rediscovered in 1881 and opened to the public in 1884. An interesting fact is that electric lighting was introduced into the cave in 1896—just 12 years after the invention of the light bulb. Another curious fact was the attempt to transform the ordinary dripstone cave into an ice cave. The lower sections of the cave were supposed to be artificially iced over, but this damaged the decorations, so the plan was abandoned.

Let's move to the present. Inside the cave, 1,370 meters of underground beauty, a 125-meter vertical rise, and exactly 860 steps await you. Dress warmly before visiting the cave; the temperature inside hovers between 5 and 6 degrees Celsius, and you will be underground for over an hour. The cave is open year-round, with the exception of a few weeks in the winter months. It is also closed every Monday. It is necessary to check visiting hours in advance online, as they differ during the high season and off-season.

In the cave, you will be captivated by flowstone waterfalls, especially in Vysoký dóm and Vodopádový dóm. Hudobná sieň is also fascinating. Its name is fitting—thanks to its exceptional acoustics, musical concerts have been held here both in the past and present. If you think the underground world is lifeless, you are mistaken. In Belianska jaskyňa alone, there are up to 7 species of bats.

You can enjoy a visit to Belianska jaskyňa from several locations. Right next to the cave is Tatranská Kotlina. There you will find beautiful, stylish accommodation in guesthouses with typical High Tatras architecture. The same applies to cozy cottages suitable both for couples in love and groups of friends. You will also find plenty of guesthouses and private accommodations in nearby Ždiar. Belianska jaskyňa is proof that in Vysoké Tatry, it is not only towering peaks that deserve attention, but also the underground world. Discover Vysoké Tatry from beneath the surface.

They won't leave you hungry here either. You can have lunch at the Nestville Taberna restaurant, which also houses a craft brewery. The unique "farm to table" concept will enhance the culinary experience of the served specialties.

Kaštieľ Strážky

Kaštieľ Strážky

Spišská Belá

In the northern part of the Poprad Basin, at the confluence of the Poprad and the Beliansky stream, lies the town of Spišská Belá. Right here you will find a gem of Slovak Renaissance architecture, kaštieľ Strážky. Spišská Belá is situated in the Prešov Region, in the district of Kežmarok, approximately 20 km north of Poprad, the gateway to the tourist-beloved Vysoké Tatry. The local manor house attracts visitors not only with its charming architecture, but also with valuable permanent exhibitions and occasional programming by the Slovenská národná galéria. The charm of this unique place is completed by an 19th-century English park, which is made for a romantic stroll.

Art lovers can let themselves be enchanted by four permanent exhibitions in kaštieľ Strážky. Two of them are presentations of visual art pieces. The exhibition Portrét 17.–19. storočia na Spiši is a collection of portraits consisting largely of works from the family gallery of the former owners of the manor house (the Horváth-Stansith, Szirmay, Mednyánszky, and Czóbel families, as well as Spiš families such as Csáky, Esterházy, etc.). The second visual art exhibition, entitled Ladislav Mednyánszky a Strážky, is the only permanent exhibition in Slovakia presenting the works of one of the main representatives of Central European painting of the last third of the 19th and early 20th century, Ladislav Mednyánszky. The exhibition is a selection from a comprehensive body of the artist's works, which primarily come from his early periods and document individual stages of the development of his artistic style.

The third interesting exhibition of the picturesque manor house is Historická knižnica Strážky, which is part of the national cultural heritage. Its origins date back to the last quarter of the 16th century. The impressive collection contains an incredible 8,500 volumes, magazines, and maps. The last exhibition of the Slovenská národná galéria can be viewed by visitors in the premises of kaštieľ Strážky. Under the title Sochárstvo na Slovensku v 20. storočí, works of important Slovak sculptors from the second half of the 20th century are presented here in the impressive setting of the English park. The picturesque park grounds blend pleasantly with the riverbed of the Poprad River and the surrounding countryside. It thus creates a beautiful scenery for a pleasant walk with an artistic touch.

A magnificent artistic object is undoubtedly the building of kaštieľ Strážky itself. It was built on the foundations of a Gothic castle. Later owners, the Horváth-Stansith family, gradually rebuilt it into a beautiful Renaissance manor house. This picturesque manor house acquired its present appearance through a reconstruction in the 17th century. A typical square floor plan with an inner courtyard was created by adding a fourth wing after a fire at the beginning of the 18th century. Kaštieľ Strážky, together with the kostol sv. Anny and a Renaissance bell tower in the historic town center, forms a national cultural monument.

Can you get enthusiastic about art and architectural monuments set in unique outdoor scenery? If so, definitely do not miss a visit to Spišská Belá and kaštieľ Strážky during your holiday in the Tatras. You can combine a trip here with a tour of Belianska jaskyňa, the largest and only accessible high-mountain dripstone cave in the Tatranský národný park. A matter of course during a holiday in this region is a wide range of accommodation near kaštieľ Strážky. Accommodation in Kežmarok presents a broad spectrum of apartments, guesthouses, picturesque villas, cottages, and chalets. You will certainly find something to your liking here.

Holumnický hrad

Holumnický hrad

Holumnica

Nestled in the Spiš region, the village of Holumnica is located in the Kežmarok district and will catch your eye from afar with its castle. It is right here that you can find the ruins of Holumnický hrad or Holumnický zámok. Today, it serves as a great spot for hikers or families with children.

Hrad Holumnica is shrouded in a veil of mystery. It is assumed that it was built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. During its existence, it was modified several times. Originally, the castle served as a three-story residential building constructed in the Gothic-Renaissance style. If you were expecting a tower or its remnants at this castle, you will not find one. Interestingly, walls with slit loopholes were discovered here.

Although the building was mostly inhabited by one of the families from a prominent noble lineage in this region, its walls were not occupied for very long. Around the 17th century, the castle became a building used as a residential seat for a member of the family. Later, it became merely a building used to store various materials. Unfortunately, more precise records do not exist.

Plan a trip to the ruins of this castle and park your car near the municipal office. You might even find accommodation near Holumnický hrad. The path to it is very easy. A small alley leading over a wooden footbridge across the Holumnický stream will bring you to your destination. It will take you just 10 minutes on foot. This attraction will not strain your budget either, as no admission fee is charged at the castle ruins and entry is at your own risk.

Holumnica offers many possibilities for how to spend time directly in the village or its surroundings. Book accommodation in the village of Holumnica in advance and check out the local Rímskokatolícky kostol sv. Kataríny. Nearby, you can also explore the premises of the Kláštor piaristov. In Vyšné Ružbachy, on the other hand, you can enjoy a perfect swim in the Ružbašské krátery. After that, all you need to do is head back to your private accommodation in Holumnica and spend pleasant moments with your partner.

Litmanová Resort

Litmanová

Welcome to the beautiful Pieniny mountain range, in the middle of which lies the tourist-popular village of Litmanová. It is right here where you will find the ski resort Litmanová Resort, suitable for children and adults alike. Once a continuous layer of snow falls, not only recreational enthusiasts but also demanding winter sports lovers will find something to their liking here. The slopes are artificially snowed, which means the winter season can fully begin at sub-zero temperatures. At your disposal, you have a choice of four ski lifts that will take you up to one of the total of five slopes with various inclines.

The shortest slope with a length of 150 m and an elevation gain of 20 meters is for children. The Žiacka slope serves for instruction during ski training camps. Two other slopes with a length of 400 m will be appreciated by more advanced skiers. The difficulty of one is medium and the other is hard. The longest is called Fakľovka and offers the option of skiing along a total length of 1,000 m. The most demanding skiers love riding on virgin, un-groomed snow during freeride skiing or snowboarding. Lovers of cross-country skiing will not be disappointed either, which you can enjoy when there is enough natural snow, for example, on the ridge circuit of Fakľovka.

A huge advantage in this resort is the option of illuminated slopes, and thus evening skiing. However, you will appreciate the views of the surrounding nature during beautiful sunny days. In the resort, it is possible to rent ski equipment or use the ski service. Many will refine their technique or learn it in the ski school or snowboarding school. You can also warm up in the snack bar on the slope or in a Goral-style teahouse near the resort. All you need to do is plan a multi-day ski trip and take advantage of accommodation near the Litmanová Resort.

After parking your car in the parking lot, in addition to fantastic skiing, you can undertake a slightly more demanding hike along the ridges of Pieniny. Under good natural conditions, a cross-country trail leads through the ski resort. The experience of this sport is thus enhanced. Even in winter, a visit to the Stredoveký vojenský tábor is interesting. You can warm up on the premises of Ľubovniansky hrad, where you will see its interesting exhibition. However, it is good to keep in mind that accommodation in Litmanová fills up very quickly and it is necessary to find and book the best option in advance. The complete offer can be found on our portal.

Zadné Meďodoly

Tatranská Javorina

If you love nature and long walks, set out with us along the Náučný chodník Zadné Meďodoly educational trail and discover the beauty of the Tatras nature. Beneath this mysterious name hides a tourist educational trail in the Belianske Tatry mountains. Take a family trip and enjoy your stay in nature in the fresh air.

Zadné Meďodoly covers approximately 8.5 km, packed with interesting information and facts. Families with children can complete this mountain walk in 3 hours. From 10 information boards, you will learn more about the flora and fauna, the history of the valley, rocks and water, as well as what troubles the Tatras forest. You will also learn that the ruler of the forest is the bear, which has two wooden statues built here.

Walking along this new educational trail is a true experience. The surrounding nature, the sound of gurgling streams, and the forest inhabitants will surely evoke pleasant feelings in you. With its difficulty level, it is suitable for families with children as well as active seniors. The trail is perfectly maintained and you will find many seating areas for a potential rest or a snack. From Tatranská Javorina, along the trail that leads beside the Javorinka stream, you will reach the cozy Horáreň Pod Muráňom forestry lodge, where a small dachshund will welcome you. At this spot, you will learn more about the geological composition of the Tatras and how they acquired their present shape. You will also read about forest protection in the national parks of Slovakia and about the calamity caused by the bark beetle. This section of the trail is also accessible to wheelchair users and families with strollers. The most interesting peak in this part of the Belianske Tatry is Muráň, which entered history through the breeding of ibexes, which Prince Hohenlohe once raised there.

During the walk, you will come across a real curiosity: a spring gushing out of the ground. It is a very abundant water source that spews out approximately 150 liters of water per second. The trail continues into the Bránka gorge, which was created by the erosive action of the Meďodolský potok stream and rainfall activity after the retreat of glaciers. The total length of the gorge is 185 m. At the spot where the dense forest ends, you can relax at the Studnička resting place, where wooden statues of a small bear cub and its mother bear are placed. These were created by the hands of a skilled folk woodcarver from the nearby village of Ždiar. After a short break, you will find yourself on a trail where the forest is sparser, and from a distance, a view of Kopské sedlo will open up before you. In the meadow, you can admire rare flora, such as Rosebay Willowherb, Willow Gentian, or Jacquin's Ragwort. Blueberries and lingonberries grow along the trail. Above the upper timberline, you have the opportunity to discover other alpine plants, such as Spring Gentian or Evergreen Saxifrage. The final stop of our hike is Kopské sedlo, which forms the border between the Belianske Tatry and the Vysoké Tatry mountains. Your reward will be a view of all of Zadné Meďodoly and the Vysoké Tatry. Here you can decide in which direction you will continue. However, do not forget that this educational trail is accessible to the public only during the summer season from June 15 to October 31.

Jahňací štít

Jahňací štít

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Jahňací štít rises in the northeastern part of the Vysoké Tatry, at an altitude of 2,229.6 m a. s. l., and is the easternmost high-Tatras peak. It falls into the Prešovský kraj region, under the Poprad district. Four ridges branch out from it. The southwest ridge leads via Kolový priechod to Kolovské sedlo. The northwest ridge, called hrebeň Jahnecov, separates Jahňací kotol from Kolová dolina. The southeast ridge, called Kozí hrebeň, separates Červená dolina from Dolina Bielych plies. And the last, northeast ridge, leads via Jahňací hrb into Kopské sedlo.

Jahňací štít belongs among the 6 freely accessible mountain peaks. Climbing it can be undertaken only during the period when the trails are open, usually between June and November. Among tourists, it is said to have one of the most beautiful views in the entire Vysoké Tatry.

The English traveler Robert Townson with his guide Hans Gross during their visit to Uhorsko in 1793 made the first known ascent of Jahňací štít. However, it is probable that shepherds and poachers had already been on it before them, perhaps even miners who mined copper around the peak in the 18th century. In 1911, the first winter climbers were on the peak.

You can reach the summit via various routes. The shortest one leads along the yellow and subsequently blue tourist trail from the Biela voda stop to Chata pri Zelenom plese, known as Brnčalka (approximately 2.5 hours), and subsequently (approximately another 2 hours) all the way to the summit. A longer route leads from Skalnaté pleso via Veľká Svišťovka (along the yellow and red tourist trail), or from Chata Plesnivec (along the yellow, red, and green tourist trail). You can also set off from Tatranská Javorina, Tatranská Kotlina, Tatranské Matliare, Skalnatá chata, or Tatranská Lomnica. From the summit, you will subsequently see amazing views of the Belianske Tatry, Lomnický štít, Dolina Kežmarskej Bielej vody, Kolová dolina, and Dolina Bielych plies.

As time went on, the name of the peak also changed. When Townson wrote his first-ascent itinerary in 1793, he designated it as Štít Bieleho plesa, in the original White Lake Peak. Later, the name Lastovica was used. The creators of the name were inspired by the wallcreeper (murárik červenokrídly), popularly called skalná lastovica, which occurred abundantly in this locality. The current name cannot be attributed to shepherds with certainty, although the word "jahňací" might evoke it. A more probable reason is the German and Hungarian mutation of the name, where the translation preserved the name Kamzičí štít. There is an assumption that the poachers of the time also played a role in creating the name, who once called young chamois lambs (jahňatá). In any case, we also owe the current name to the Uhorský karpatský spolok, which was active in creating the nomenclature of objects in the Tatry at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.

The climb to Jahňací štít does not belong among extremely difficult ones, yet it is still not recommended to underestimate preparation. Go on the hike rested and full of strength. You will achieve this, for example, by staying somewhere in the vicinity of Jahňací štít, and in the morning you do not have to waste time with a long transfer from home. On our page, you will find many accommodation facilities from which everyone will surely choose the most suitable one for themselves.
