The ski resort is located at an altitude ranging from 760 to 907 metres above sea level. The best thing about the Žiarce resort is the fact that it offers skiing for all difficulty levels. Here you will find 4 ski lifts, thanks to which you can forget about long lines and ski from morning to evening almost without a break.

The total length of the ski slopes is 1,130 metres. These are divided among all difficulty levels. In the lower section, there are two lifts intended exclusively for beginners. Easy blue slopes are available for them, where they can learn their first metres on skis under the supervision of ski instructors.

For everyone else, two additional lifts are available. The shorter one also offers the option of a descent along a blue slope, while the longer one is for more experienced skiers. The upper part of this slope is even designated black and, thanks to its incline, presents a challenge even for seasoned skiers.

Naturally, in the ski resort you will find a snack bar, a ski school, artificial snowmaking, and on certain days of the week, you even have the option of night skiing. What could be better after a good dinner than a few more hours of skiing on the slope?

Liptov offers many natural sights and attractions. One of the largest is just a stone's throw away from Pavčina Lehota. It is Demänovská dolina with Slovakia's most beautiful caves, Demänovská ľadová jaskyňa and Demänovská jaskyňa slobody.

Pavčina Lehota is also a popular starting point for more well-known ski resorts. During the tourist season, you will meet many other tourists here. You will find the Ski centrum Opalisko ski resort just a few kilometres from Liptovský Mikuláš. Transportation will therefore not present the slightest problem. It is situated at the foot of the mountain known as Poludnica.

Ski centrum Opalisko spans an altitude ranging from 710 to 950 metres above sea level. It is located directly above the village of Závažná Poruba. Its slopes face north and therefore consistently offer plenty of snow. Ski centrum Opalisko is a typical family resort suitable for a wide range of skiers. The slopes are equipped with an artificial snowmaking system.

The main advantages of Opalisko are excellent snow conditions and slopes for every type of skier. Children or beginners will certainly appreciate the less steep sections of the slopes or the lift dedicated exclusively to them. It is on the blue slopes where practically anyone can learn to stand on skis, especially under the supervision of professional instructors.

The most demanding skiers will also find their spot here, though most of the trails are best suited for intermediate skiers. Throughout the resort, you will find as many as five slopes. Transportation within the resort is handled by 4 ski lifts and one chairlift. That is more than enough, and all these transport facilities ensure that you spend as little time waiting in lines as possible. After all, you came here to ski.

The total length of the slopes reaches up to 3,160 metres, which is certainly a substantial distance. The longest slope is truly long as well, measuring more than 1.5 km. Even the most experienced skiers will enjoy their time on it.

Opalisko is also extremely popular among cross-country skiing enthusiasts. Those who love wandering through beautiful nature along a white track will guaranteed appreciate up to 30 km of cross-country trails in the surrounding area. Therefore, you should definitely include Závažná Poruba among the candidates for your winter ski getaway.

The immediate surroundings of the resort also offer many interesting excursions. Whether you choose hikes in the area or enjoyable relaxation. You can treat yourself to the latter in Tatralandia, perhaps the most popular water park in Slovakia.

You will park your car in one of the many high-capacity parking lots and head for your tickets. The ticket offices are the first thing you will come into contact with, and they are located precisely at Biela púť.

In addition to them, you will find a disco, bars, restaurants, and many accommodation facilities here. A variety of hotels and guesthouses are located directly on the Biela púť slope. You can look forward to typical mountain architecture and a pleasant environment. Outside your windows, you will see the cable car moving and crowds of satisfied skiers.

At Biela púť, you will find a chairlift and a blue slope suitable even for complete beginners. If you are standing on skis for the first time, your steps will lead you here first. The slope is regularly maintained, and artificial snowmaking is a matter of course. It is equipped with artificial lighting, so you can start looking forward to night skiing. You walk out of the hotel, put on your skis, and you are already skiing.

At the end of Biela púť, there is an interesting attraction, Twinliner. It is a kind of train that functions just like an elevator. Its carriage can hold up to 50 skiers and will transport you directly to the funitel, the cable car leading to the peak of Chopok. From Biela púť, you can also get to Luková, at an altitude of 1,670 meters above sea level. You will be transported there by a classic 4-seater chairlift, one of many in the entire resort.

Biela púť is the starting point for the entire ski resort, and every skier heading to the slopes of Chopok will pass through it. The slope itself is ideal for beginners; just choose a ski or snowboard school, and professionals will teach you all the secrets of every good skier in a few days.

There is probably no better location to stay for skiing in Jasná. There are many hotels for the demanding directly at Biela púť. If you want to save money and prefer to ski more, choose from the range of tourist hostels. Despite the fact that you will be at an altitude of over 1,100 meters above sea level in the middle of the mountains, you will not be bored. It is only a short walk from the hotels to the bars or to one of the most famous discos. Entertainment in Jasná at Biela púť does not end on the slope.

Do you love winter and skiing in particular? In that case, you have almost certainly heard of Jasná. A ski resort where your dreams of the perfect ski holiday become reality. Tens of kilometers of slopes, ski lifts, and cable cars on par with the Alps. You definitely shouldn't miss out on such an experience.

A main road leads to Jasná, alongside which there are several large park-and-ride car parks. Each of them is connected to a chairlift, so it doesn't matter where you park. You can enjoy the entire resort from any car park. If you don't feel like going all the way to the top, you can stop in the area called Záhradky.

Get out of the car, put on your ski boots, step into your skis, and head straight to the slopes. Jasná is exceptional because it offers long kilometers of trails of all difficulty levels. If you are an intermediate skier, you will find plenty to enjoy in Záhradky. Alternatively, you can warm up and stretch your muscles here before tackling steeper slopes. In Záhradky, you will mostly find medium-difficulty (red) slopes, but there is also a blue, least demanding trail.

One ski lift and two modern chairlifts lead directly from Záhradky. Equipment with windshield covers protecting against the wind is taken for granted. One of the chairlifts leads to Rovná hoľa, a quieter yet even more beautiful corner of Jasná. The second one takes you directly into the heart of the resort, to Priehyba, at an altitude of 1,342 meters above sea level. This is where the famous funitel funicular/cable car is located, leading all the way to the top of Chopok. From Záhradky, you can reach an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level with just a single transfer. Another chairlift runs above Záhradky, coming from the previous park-and-ride car park at Lúčky.

If you head from Záhradky to Rovná hoľa, you have a choice of two slopes to ski back down. Intermediate skiers will choose the red one, and beginners the blue one. If that isn't enough for you, you can extend your descent all the way to Lúčky. The cable car to Priehyba is for more demanding skiers. From there, you can return to Záhradky via either two red slopes or one black slope for the most experienced skiers.

Down at the bottom of the slopes, a full range of facilities awaits you: snack bars, a restaurant, a rental shop, a ski school, and a sports clothing store. In short, complete equipment and services. And remember, Záhradky is just an entry point to the resort center, where even more awaits you.

Finding accommodation in Záhradky will not be a problem. Jasná offers cozy mountain cabins, luxurious guesthouses, as well as affordable private rooms and tourist hostels around every corner. It's entirely up to you what you choose. You will truly find everything here.

Jasná is the largest ski resort for miles around. But if you think a beginner skier won't find a place to ski here, you are mistaken. It offers something for everyone. For professionals, freeriders, ski mountaineers, intermediate skiers, but also for beginner skiers and families with small children. If you belong to the last category, pay attention.

A short distance from the ticket office where you buy your passes, there is a modern and beautiful hotel. In front of it stands the valley station of the cable car. It will certainly catch your eye immediately upon arrival; its black and orange design is simply unmistakable. And it is thanks to it that you will discover the high-quality slopes of Otupné.

The cable car will comfortably take you from an altitude of 1,141 meters above sea level to nearly 300 meters higher, where an approximately 2 km long slope begins. The cable car, named after the adjacent hotel, Grandjet, is fast, comfortable, and thanks to the orange glass, you will feel like it is beautifully sunny outside. Even when it is cloudy.

The slope from Brhliská to Otupné is marked in blue, so it is suitable for beginners or children. It is sufficiently wide, and you do not have to worry about the safety of your little one. A few meters of the slope are red, of intermediate difficulty, but this section can be bypassed by a gentler slope. Moreover, you will find ski schools in the resort, and if you do not dare to go alone, you can head to Otupné with an experienced instructor.

In addition to the modern cable car, you will also find short lifts here. They come in handy when you don't want to return all the way down to the parking lots. At Otupné, there is a unique view of the massive rocky ridge of the Nízke Tatry mountains, the Chopok peak itself, and, of course, the Derešský kotol basin.

Until now, it may have seemed that if you are a more experienced skier, you have no reason to go to Otupné. Wrong. The first reason is the breathtaking natural scenery all around, and the second is the local Snowpark. It is the real deal for adrenaline seekers. You will find high snow ramps, jumps, rails, and various obstacles here. From small jumps for beginners to several-meter-long jumps for the best. If "freeride" is your middle name, you will let loose like a small child at Otupné.

Jasná offers slopes for every group of skiers, and Otupné is an example of this. It is focused mainly on beginners and absolute extremists who love adrenaline. Are you in one of these groups? Then you would want to stay somewhere, because one day at Jasná is not enough. Trust us! Skicentrum Žiar – Dolinky is located on the edge of the village of Žiar. You will find it approximately 12 km north of Liptovský Mikuláš. On the northern side, the majestic wall of Západné Tatry towers over the region, while from the south, Nízke Tatry complete the stunning panorama. It is a unique setting that you will not easily find anywhere else.

The Žiar – Dolinky ski area is a smaller yet very well-equipped ski resort. Beginners in particular will enjoy it to the fullest, as both slopes in the resort are tailored to them. An appropriate slope length and a comfortable incline are the main prerequisites ensuring that even complete beginners can learn to ski here.

The resort stands at an altitude of 810 to 902 metres above sea level. Thanks to this, the resort does not suffer from a lack of snow, and the ski season usually lasts until the end of March.

In the resort, you will find a pair of slopes. Both are marked in blue, making them a favorite choice mainly for families with children and beginner skiers. One of the slopes measures 400 metres and the second one 450 metres. Together, you have nearly a kilometre of slopes available.

Convenient transport within the resort is provided by a pair of ski lifts, a shorter 200-metre lift and a longer 400-metre one. Regardless of which one you use more, pleasant and affordable skiing awaits you here.

The Žiar – Dolinky ski resort offers one particularly attractive service: night skiing. Both slopes are floodlit. After a generous session of skiing during the day, you can treat yourself to an extra portion in the form of night skiing. Alternatively, you can spend the day at the nearby Tatralandia water park and still hit the slope in the evening.

However, given its location close to the Západné Tatry, snow is rarely an issue here. Two ski lifts, 300 meters and just over 500 meters long, take care of skier transportation. They have sufficient capacity, so you won't stand in line and can ski virtually without interruption.

The best thing about the Jakubovany Studená dolina ski resort, however, is its location, as you ski with views of the entire Nízke Tatry range, as well as the Baranec and Kriváň peaks. Not many resorts can offer you such a view. After a rewarding day on the slopes, you can enjoy refreshments at the nearby bar, which offers everything that belongs to a great skiing experience.

Every visitor will find something to love in Jakubovany. Let's start with the least demanding activities. The picturesque Studená dolina valley begins near the village and is perfect for walks after a good lunch. The Trnovec brook flows through it, and its bubbling water provides a great way to cool off, especially in summer. Jakubovany is a popular starting point for hikes to the Žiarska chatu mountain hut. A comfortable paved road leads here, and near the hut, you will find a symbolic cemetery, while inside the hut, delicious treats await. After recharging your batteries, the fittest hikers can head up to Baníkov or Baranec. These are challenging hikes that all alpine hiking enthusiasts will enjoy. Very few places in Slovakia offer such opportunities for active relaxation as Jakubovany.

With its parameters, the Jasná ski resort resembles Alpine rather than Slovak ski resorts. Judge for yourself: 45 kilometers of slopes, 2 gondolas, 7 chairlifts, 15 ski lifts, and one of the world's unique attractions: a funitel on the northern side. It is the most modern and fastest type of gondola lift you can encounter. A single cabin can accommodate up to 24 skiers. And the total capacity of the resort? A dizzying more than 30,000 skiers per hour.

Jasná is divided into two parts, which were successfully connected precisely thanks to the funitel. Into the more extensive and better-known northern side, and the beautiful, less touched southern side. It is precisely the southern side we will look at today.

The southern slopes of Chopok, especially in the area called Kosodrevina, are only for the best and most experienced skiers. This part of the resort is located between the peak of Chopok and the Horský hotel Kosodrevina mountain hotel. Chopok stands at an altitude of over 2,000 meters and undoubtedly belongs among our most majestic and popular peaks. Today, you can ski directly from its summit.

All slopes in this area are black, the most demanding. If you are not confident on skis, don't even try it here. Due to their steep incline, the slopes on the southern side are groomed less frequently than those in the north. Be prepared for that, but when fresh snow falls, skiing at Kosodrevina is perhaps the best skiing experience in the country. The slopes here are serviced by 3 ski lifts and, above all, a brand-new 15-passenger gondola leading from the Kosodrevina hotel at an altitude of 1,495 meters above sea level directly to the summit of Chopok.

On the southern slope of Chopok, at Kosodrevina, you will find numerous steep chutes that will be appreciated especially by freeride enthusiasts. Riding through pristine, untouched powder will become an addiction, and you will never want to stop. Add to that the magnificent views into the valley, and the result will be an unforgettable skiing experience.

You will have majestic Chopok right in the palm of your hand and a chairlift right under your windows. You can get to Kosodrevina by this lift, from where a modern high-capacity cable car leads all the way to the top of Chopok.

The slopes at Srdiečko are also inclined towards less experienced skiers, although absolute beginners should look somewhere else. The slope leading along the chairlift also has challenging sections. The part west of Srdiečko is somewhat gentler. You will find classic ski lifts here, where there is almost always a minimum of people. This red-marked slope belongs to the longest descents in Slovakia. You should definitely try it; it is an unmistakable experience directly from the top of Chopok.

One of the less known nooks of the southern side of Chopok close to Srdiečko is Dereše. An older ski lift leads to a height of approximately 2000 meters above sea level. Dereše are interesting not only for their natural beauty but also for a beautiful slope with open terrain where you don't have to worry about queues of people. You will feel like in a movie with professional skiers. If you visit Jasná, don't just ski on the northern side. The southern side has a completely different atmosphere, and many will like it more than the more commercial northern side.

Srdiečko is very easily accessible; a classic road even leads here. You can get here from the direction of Tále. In addition to traffic accessibility, one unique attraction is located nearby, the Jaskyňa Mŕtvych netopierov (Cave of Dead Bats). You won't find groomed trails or artificial lighting here. As an adventurer, a caver, you will set off into the dark depths and discover all the underground beauties by the light of a carbide lamp.

You can stay directly at the Horský hotel Srdiečko (Srdiečko Mountain Hotel), from which a chairlift leads and several slopes end here. Alternatively, there are several villages with private accommodation and guest houses available to you. Tále, Bystrá, or Mýto pod Ďumbierom are popular destinations among tourists offering affordable accommodation.

High mountains are made for hikers, skiers, and all nature lovers in general. One of our most famous mountain ranges is Západné Tatry. Its high peaks are exceptionally attractive to tourists from all over Slovakia. Climbing peaks such as Baníkov or Ostrý Roháč is a dream for many. And right beneath these peaks, you will find the picturesque Račkova dolina, where you can enjoy great skiing.

The valley is located in Západné Tatry. Since Račkova dolina is a popular recreational resort, access to it is very easy. Just a short distance away is the village of Pribylina, known primarily for its famous open-air museum, featuring a tour of traditional dwellings and crafts of the Liptov region's inhabitants.

The beginning of the valley sits at an altitude of 960 meters above sea level, with the top of the resort reaching 1,100 meters above sea level. The ski resort itself is not among the largest or most famous. And that is precisely a huge asset for skiers. You won't find crowds of people, overcrowded slopes, or lines at the ski lifts here.

A pair of ski lifts and a pair of slopes await you here. They are designed for a wide spectrum of skiers, mainly due to the medium difficulty profile of the trails. Their total length is 1.4 km, and the entire resort is equipped with an artificial snowmaking system.

The foothills of Západné Tatry are interesting for more than just downhill skiers. For cross-country skiers, long kilometers of groomed trails are available.

It goes without saying that the ski resort includes supplementary services such as a refreshment kiosk, ski equipment rental, and a comprehensive range of accommodation services.

The nature here is truly beautiful. In the immediate vicinity, there is no shortage of high-quality services and attractions for everyone. A good tip for a trip around Liptov is, for example, Demänovské jaskyne. This region is exceptionally welcoming to relaxation enthusiasts. Visit the modern aquapark in Bešeňová, where an interesting water slide tower has been added, or head to the most famous aquapark in Slovakia, Tatralandia. A variety of pools, water slides, whirlpools, and water jets are the best thing you can treat yourself to after a great day of skiing.

Accommodation options in Račkova dolina are exceptionally wide-ranging. The local campsite is popular, and for more demanding guests, several mountain hotels are at your service. Further accommodation options in the area are offered by the villages in the foothills, where you can choose from various private rentals or guesthouses.

Račkova dolina is a well-known hiking destination, yet its slopes remain relatively undiscovered. If you enjoy undisturbed skiing in beautiful surroundings, you don't have to look any further.
