Slnečné jazerá Senec

Slnečné jazerá Senec

Senec

Slnečné jazerá (Sun Lakes) or Senecké jazerá are among the most visited recreation centers in Slovakia. We can find them in the town of Senec. Every year, this location is visited by many families with children, young active holidaymakers, and seniors. The advantage is the low entrance fee, the option to purchase a seasonal pass, and a number of attractions in the area. Slnečné jazerá in Senec are also popular among fishermen, who can pursue their hobby here without any worries.

The lakes were artificially created in 1845, when five separate lakes were formed after gravel dredging. These later merged into one water area with an area of 120 hectares and a depth of up to 12 meters. Since 1919, the place began to be used as a natural swimming area. At that time, it was also known by the name Slovenské Tahiti (Slovak Tahiti).

Today, the resort is divided into three zones - northern, southern, and eastern. The northern side is especially suitable for families with children, as there is an Aquathermal Senec water park with water attractions and a playground for children. However, you will find various attractions for active holidaymakers in every part. You will appreciate the beach volleyball courts, football fields, and tennis courts.

Water sports are a matter of course here. You can practice Zumba and yoga, or explore the surroundings faster on scooters, which you can rent. During the summer, various musical events held directly on the premises are also very popular.

You don't have to go far for other points of interest. Visit Včelársky skanzen (Beekeeping Open-air Museum), Oáza sibírskeho tigra (Siberian Tiger Oasis) in Kostolná pri Dunaji, enjoy adventure flights from Kráľová pri Senci, or an adrenaline rafting trip on the Malý Dunaj river. The surroundings of the town of Senec are known mainly for their Slnečné jazerá. The recreational resort is a sought-after area for visitors from all over Slovakia. Originally, it consisted of five lakes that formed during gravel extraction, later they merged, and today they form a single water area of about 100 ha. The surroundings of the lakes are fully equipped with accommodation and catering units. In addition, a rich cultural and social program is prepared for tourists throughout the summer.

In the immediate vicinity of Senec, there are also other water bodies and lakes. These are, for example, Hlboké jazero, Kövecstó lake, Strieborné jazero, or Labutie jazero. So there is really no shortage of free-time activities in the summer.

Golf Borša

Golf Borša

Hrubá Borša

Golf is one of the most widespread sports of today. This is also evidenced by the increasing number of quality golf courses across all of Slovakia. You can find an exceptionally popular golf complex in the village of Hrubá Borša, in the Senec district. Golf Borša offers an exclusive 18-hole championship course suitable for golfers of all levels and a 9-hole public course. A covered driving range building is also available, allowing you to practice your swing in any weather. A particularly pleasant part of the golf complex is a restaurant with a summer terrace located directly on the lake. You can reward yourself for a successful game with a delicious specialty from the local menu.

The greatest attraction of the golf complex is undoubtedly its championship course. It comes from the workshop of architect Martin Munka, who designed it in cooperation with Dávid Záleský. The golfing environment here is created by the southern Slovak plain interspersed with white sand bunkers and water surfaces. The pleasant atmosphere of the course is enhanced by a floodplain forest where 8 holes are placed. Up to half of the fairways touch the water surface, including an island green. Landing zones with a width of 70–80 m were built following the model of American courses. The course consists of black, white, yellow, blue, and red tees. The area is therefore suitable for both professionals and less experienced players. Top-quality grass is a matter of course here.

If you do not feel ready for the course of golf champions yet, in Hrubá Borša they also have a smaller public course prepared for you, suitable for playing short distances. Here you can practice and test your knowledge of the rules of golf. Your game will be varied by a large lake and numerous sand bunkers. Weather will not ruin your visit to this golf paradise either. You can practice your drive in the covered driving range building, which features 17 illuminated bays with artificial mats.

The rich range of services at the golf complex also includes a professional golf shop. On a retail area of 320 m2, you will find everything you need for this sport, including complete beginner golf sets. If you want to relax comfortably and enjoy a good meal after a challenging match on the golf course, we definitely recommend visiting the local restaurant. The modern design of the interior and the summer terrace combined with quality international cuisine guarantee a perfect gourmet experience. The cuisine's domain is local ingredients, including meat from surrounding farms, fish from local ponds, and baked goods from nearby bakeries. Directly within the golf complex, they will also take care of your car. The services include EV charging and car washing.

You can enhance a day spent on the golf course in this region by visiting Oáza sibírskeho tigra, relaxing on the shores of Slnečné jazerá, or enjoying a canoeing trip down Malý Dunaj. We also highly recommend a water adventure at Aquathermal Senec water park and a trip to the unique Malkia Park in Orechová Potôň. To manage to enjoy all these great experiences, book accommodation near the Golf Borša complex. If the selection of accommodation in Hrubá Borša does not meet all your expectations, choose accommodation in Senec. The exceptionally popular Senec chalets will certainly not disappoint you.

Seredský kaštieľ

Seredský kaštieľ

Sereď

Come and take a look at the remnants of history reaching into the present at the Seredský kaštieľ in Sereď. It is a classical mansion that stands on the former Šintavský hrad. Today, it ranks among national cultural monuments that you certainly should not miss when visiting Sereď.

The history of this mansion is interesting. Originally a medieval castle from the 17th century, it was transformed into a Renaissance fortress and later a mansion. The history of the mansion connected with the castle thus dates back to the 11th century, when its foundation was merely a multi-story prismatic tower. Over time, the castle was transformed and expanded with new parts. If you had lived at that time, you would certainly have been interested in the entrance gate with a tower and a drawbridge across the moat. Even though the castle fortifications were gradually dismantled and the moats filled in, the overall atmosphere will surely charm you.

Over the course of three centuries, the four-bastion fortress changed into a Baroque mansion, which was later rebuilt in the classical style. It must have been wonderful to stroll through the summer salon, the library salon with over a thousand book titles, the countess's dressing room, the silver room, or the playroom. A total of 14 rooms and the corridors of the mansion were truly opulent for that time. The surroundings of the mansion were practically made for walks, as there was a well-maintained English park located here. The use of the mansion by German soldiers during World War II, its devastation by the Russian army, or the completion of the destruction by local residents left damage on this monument.

Mostly during summer and cultural events, you can visit the premises of the Seredského kaštieľa. At other times, it is only possible by agreement with the city employees. The mansion is currently in the hands of the city, which is trying to restore this monumental monument. Even the councilors decided that it would be a pity not to use the premises, which is why exhibitions, concerts, or other events are occasionally held here. Mostly this is in the area, not inside the building. You might manage to visit such an event and need to book suitable accommodation near the Seredského kaštieľa in advance.

In Sereď, you will find many ways to spend time together. A chill runs down your spine at the Múzeu holokaustu. However, it is good to show young people what happened in the past. Perhaps right after such an experience, you will head to clear your head at the Plaváreň ZŠ Juraja Fándlyho. Water has very positive effects on the human body, and in combination with sports, you will do something beneficial for your body.

Do not worry about not finding accommodation in Sereď. It is a relatively large town that provides multiple accommodation facilities. You might be interested in a small wooden cottage in the nearby cottage settlement. Much more space for accommodation is provided by the Sereď hostels. Think about the fact that it is important to choose the right type of accommodation and spend a great stay connected with a visit to the mansion.

The museum is located in an ancient building right next to the Rímskokatolícky kostol and the parish office.

The Vlastivedné múzeum v Galante was established on April 1, 1969. The first impulse for its creation came from local teachers, who led a local history club at that time. From 1970 to 1986, the museum was housed in the Neogotický kaštieľ manor house. In 2014, it moved to new premises of a former bank in the town center. In the museum building, you can view 8 permanent exhibitions. The first exhibition is titled Mestská bytová kultúra and presents a collection of historical furniture from the late 19th to the early 20th century. The displayed pieces represent the living style of the so-called upper social class.

In the room Sakrálne pamiatky, items with religious themes that once formed part of church furnishings will catch your interest. The exhibition Tradičná ľudová kultúra galantského regiónu presents an ethnological collection of the way of life in the surrounding microregions: Šoporňa, Pata, Abrahám, Veľký Grob, and Slovenský Komlóš. The displayed objects originate from the fields of traditional folk clothing, folk crafts, and home production.

Perhaps the most interesting room is Lekáreň, whose furnishings come from a family pharmacy in Bratislava dating back to 1909. The exhibition consists of numerous small bottles and containers of various shapes and sizes that once served in the production of pharmaceuticals. Laboratory tools and pharmacy scales are also located here, and diplomas of local pharmacists and doctors hold an honorable place as well.

In the smallest section, Výtvarní umelci regiónu, you will find 11 paintings by the painter Anton Dubrovský, a native of Šoporňa. The historical exhibition Mlyny a mlynárske remeslo deals with the development of milling in the area of the Malý Dunaj river and the lower reach of the Váh river, from its beginnings up to the end of the 20th century.

Archeologická lokalita Gáň-Brakoň. That is the name of the exhibition in which you will see finds from the ancient settlement of this region. Vessels and fragments of various tools date from the Neolithic period and the Late Bronze Age. The last stop is the Numizmatická výstava exhibition, located in a former vault room. Here you can inspect coins from the reign of Franz Joseph I as well as coins originating from Šintavský hrad.

In addition to permanent exhibitions, the Vlastivedné múzeum manages 9 branch exhibitions: Dom ľudového bývania Matúškovo, Vodný kolový mlyn Jelka, Vodný kolový mlyn Tomášikovo, Renesančný kaštieľ Galanta, Dom ľudového bývania Veľké Úľany, Mestské múzeum v Seredi, Múzeum Veľká Mača, Expozícia v Dome ľudového bývania v Šali, and Expozícia v Dome ľudového bývania v Žihárci.

The Vlastivedné múzeum keeps up with the times and always lures its visitors with new, interesting exhibitions. No wonder it won the Museum of the Year award in 2014. After this successful excursion, head to the historical center and taste the specialties of local restaurants.

You can spend the end of the day with a pleasant walk around the Vodná nádrž Kráľová. If you plan to spend a few days in the Považie region, book your stay now. A rich offer of accommodation near the Vlastivedné múzeum Galanta can be found on the page accommodation in Galante. On the following day, you can visit Ranč na Striebornom jazere, where, in addition to horseback riding, you can enjoy fish specialties.

Some of them are truly very rare, and it is difficult to see them anywhere else. Likewise, there is an interesting composition of flora here, which, together with the environment and climate, creates perfect conditions of symbiosis for nesting birds. Listening to the rustling of the surrounding remnants of the floodplain forest, the sounds of birdlife, and watching the calm water surface at the same time is truly very soothing. That is likely one of the reasons why the place is a frequent destination for walks.

You can take these walks along a network of surrounding dirt paths and trails. When the ground is warm, bring a blanket with you and spread it out on the grassy banks. Whether you have a picnic directly or just relax while reading a book is up to you. Especially in autumn, it is fascinating to watch the beautifully colored trees stretching along the banks and casting fabulous colorful reflections on the water surface. Nature is the best painter, and its paintings are different every day, never the same, and always breathtaking.

Your steps can lead you to the nearby local park. There, it is not unusual to meet active individuals on roller skates or bicycles. Locals often come here for a run as well, saying it clears their heads wonderfully. However, Trnavské rybníky is not the only place you can visit during your stay in Trnava. Dóm sv. Mikuláša or Katedrála sv. Jána Krstiteľa also have their charm. The building of Galéria Jána Koniarka – Kopplova vila is also architecturally beautifully designed.

Of course, there are also many options for entertainment and leisure, whether within wellness services, summer swimming, or evening entertainment. You need to experience Trnava, ideally by securing lodging for several days on the page accommodation in Trnava. That way, you will have your accommodation close to Trnavské rybníky and all other attractions. Do not forget to bring friends or family with you. After all, experiences are best collected together with someone else.

Včelársky skanzen

Včelársky skanzen

Kráľová pri Senci

Včelársky skanzen (also known as a museum or apiary clearing), situated in a beautiful English park in the village of Kráľová pri Senci, ranks among the largest beekeeping open-air museums in Central Europe. It is a significant collection of valuable information about the life and functioning of bees. You can even see with your own eyes an original thousand-year-old bee used in a film by Juraj Jakubiska.

This small bee kingdom, as the locals fondly call it, was founded in 1930. At that time, it originally served as a vocational school for future beekeepers. In 1932, the apiary clearing was handed over to the Regional Headquarters of Beekeeping Associations in Slovakia, and gradually, from 1961 onwards, the construction of the beekeeping open-air museum began. Its gates were opened to the public in 1975. Today, this unique beekeeping museum offers you displays of truly unique hive collections. It gathers unique materials about the development of beekeeping, how we as humanity can use it in various areas of our lives, and last but not least, about honey production.

During the tour, Včelárska paseka will also give you an answer to why a human could not survive without bees. You will learn that bees have been on Earth for more than 150 million years, and of course, the secret of their precious products. Whether it is liquid gold, as honey is popularly called, propolis, royal jelly, pollen, or last but not least, wax.

The museum features more than 300 exhibits, each of which can tell its own story. Some of the exhibited hives were even used as early as the 17th century. Located here is a large apiary building where honey extractors, comb foundation presses, and various tools and supplies of beekeepers mapping the development of beekeeping in Slovakia are exhibited.

You will leave Včelárska paseka truly enriched. With new information, experiences, inner gratitude toward the little bees and their tireless work, and last but not least, perhaps also with purchased genuine bee products. If you also want to participate in one of the events held here, we recommend booking accommodation in Senec and its surroundings so that you can also visit other attractions that the surroundings of the open-air museum and Senec offer.

Delfín - Aqua baby club

Delfín - Aqua baby club

Trnava

In western Slovakia in the town of Trnava, mothers with their children in particular can spend their leisure time at Delfín - Aqua baby club. Here you will teach your little ones to love water, float on their tummies, dive, or orient themselves underwater. The doors of this club are open to you.

Swimming as such is very beneficial for a child's physical and mental development. Therefore, if you have a child older than 5 months and younger than 7 years, feel free to sign them up for one of the swimming courses led by a qualified instructor. At Delfín - Aqua baby club, children's joy spreads and is so contagious that, as a parent, you will leave rested and full of energy.

Did you know that an 8-month-old baby can save itself during an accidental fall into the water thanks to practising the correct techniques? Little ones adapt to a new environment here, while you provide them with new skills and experiences. After the course, many mothers praise improvements in their children's appetite, sleep, physical fitness, and especially the deepening of the bond between parent and child.

The course itself takes place in a pool. However, this one is special because it contains salt water with a salt concentration similar to a human tear. Thus, there is no risk of red eyes. The water temperature is around 33°C. It is not just about swimming, but also about the fact that every lesson is followed by wellness, not for the parents, but for the little ones. Relaxing music, aromatherapy, and treatment with essences and colored light will captivate them.

If you have hyperactive children and want to entertain them a bit, change them into everyday clothes and let them play in the playroom. They will romp and burn off so much energy that they will simply fall asleep from exhaustion in the evening. Maybe it won't be at home, maybe it will be in accommodation near Delfín - Aqua baby club.

Start the day with swimming and then head out with your little one for a walk to Trnavské rybníky. It is a protected area where you can find a spot for a picnic and spend a nice day in nature. You can also take slightly older children to Katedrála sv. Jána Krstiteľa. For such a small creature, it is something overwhelming to look at the structure not only from the outside, but also from the inside. Or will a room in a hotel in Trnava interest them more? You can choose places for a trip on the kam na výlet v Trnave page directly on our portal, as well as from a rich offer of accommodation facilities.

Katedrála sv. Jána Krstiteľa

Katedrála sv. Jána Krstiteľa

Trnava

You will find Katedrála sv. Jána Krstiteľa on Univerzitné námestie, in the northwestern part of Trnava. This Early Baroque cathedral church is the largest and most magnificent twin-towered church in Trnava. Did you know that the Early Baroque altar located here is the tallest altar in Slovakia as well as in Central Europe? In 1978, this church received an honor from Pope John Paul II, who elevated it to a cathedral, and in 2003 he also visited it.

The cathedral ranks among the most valuable historical monuments in Trnava and is part of the building complex of the former Trnavská univerzita. At the same time, it is the first Early Baroque sacred building in Slovakia. The origins of the church are linked to the second arrival of the Jesuits in Trnava. The donor of the church, who also financed the construction, was the Palatine of the Kingdom of Hungary, Mikuláš Esterházy. In 1629, he entrusted its construction to the Italian master builders Antonio and Pietro Spazzo.

The consecration of the church took place on August 30, 1637, by Bishop Juraj Lippai. The first Holy Mass in the church was celebrated by the Archbishop of Esztergom, Imrich Lóši. This single-nave, twin-towered church is 61 m long and 28 m wide. The interior is decorated with colorful paintings that will awe many a visitor. Above its main entrance is a pediment with statues of seated angels and a stone coat of arms of the Esterházy family. Beneath this coat of arms, the stone coat of arms of the Trnavská arcidiecéza is also placed.

The jewel of the entire interior is the magnificent all-wooden altar, which was completed in 1640. The altar is as high as 20.3 m and is the work of several carvers, sculptors, and gilders. Its dominant feature is a painting of Jesus Christ, followed by scenes from the life of John the Baptist. Breathtaking as well is the rich decoration with gilded and polychromed ornaments, three altarpieces, and dozens of artistic sculptures. An interesting fact is that hidden beneath the church are crypts where members of the Society of Jesus and four members of the Esterházy family, who fell in battle against the Turks at Vozokany in 1652, rest.

You can visit the cathedral from May 17 until the end of October, every day except Sunday. If the visit to the cathedral captured your heart, visit Dóm sv. Mikuláša as well, which was declared a basilica minor by Pope Benedict XVI on November 9, 2008. Treat your body to fairy-tale rest and relaxation and enjoy an extraordinary day at Aquapark Trnava. Vodný mlyn Jelka

Vodný mlyn Jelka

Jelka

Vodný mlyn Jelka, also known as Némethov mlyn, is situated in the beautiful natural environment of the village of the same name, on the banks of the Malý Dunaj river. It is originally a ship mill that was converted into a stake mill in 1905. In Central Europe, it is considered a rarity as it has three floors. The mill in Jelka is an exhibition of the Vlastivedné múzeum v Galante.

The location in which it is situated is tailor-made for water mills. This is also confirmed by statistics from the past. In 1866, there were approximately 37 mills on the Malý Dunaj, 4 of which were in Jelka. By 1902, there were already 7 of them in Jelka, named after their owners. Némethov mlyn, which was the first in order from upstream, is currently open to the public. The first mention of it dates back to 1894.

In the past, mills served their economic function. However, the technical nature of the mills over time hindered progress in the milling process, and their location also impeded watercraft traffic. In 1885, the so-called Water Act was passed, on the basis of which all water mills that conflicted with police orders regarding navigation safety were abolished. This led to the aforementioned conversion of the mill into a stake mill. The reconstruction lasted from 1900, and the mill began milling again in 1906. Rye was mostly milled here, and according to the former owner's stories, farmers came to this mill from great distances to have their grain milled into flour or semolina. This continued until 1951, when the mill ceased operation.

The dominant feature of the mill is the wooden mill building. The technological equipment of the mill consists of three systems. The drive system is formed by a paddle water wheel with bottom drive. The transmission system consists of a main gear wheel and another pair of wheels, with a conical pinion transferring the rotational movement. The third system, the working or milling system, is formed by the entire technology, in which every detail fit together precisely to ensure the flawless operation of the mill.

You can reach the mill via a dirt field road heading from Jelka towards Dunajská Streda. When you arrive, be sure to visit the open-air museum located nearby as well. It will introduce you to the agricultural past of the village of Jelka. Naturally, refreshment options near the mill are also available. Anyone wishing to camp or anchor a boat is also in the right place.

Water mills belong to an interesting part of history, especially in the southern regions of our country. Book accommodation near Vodný mlyn v Jelke, for example on the page accommodation Jelka or accommodation in district Galanta, and set off on the footsteps of our ancestors. It was not so long ago that the mills were still operating regularly. Perhaps during your trip, you will run into locals who remember stories from this era passed down by their grandparents.

Vodný mlyn Tomášikovo

Vodný mlyn Tomášikovo

Tomášikovo

In the beautiful environment of a floodplain forest, only 2 km from the village of Tomášikovo, in Southern Slovakia, you will find an architectural gem, Vodný kolový mlyn. In 1893, it was built by the miller János Maticza and has been preserved in its original state to this day. It is located at the confluence of the Malý Dunaj and Suchý potok. Tomášikovský vodný mlyn is an external exhibition of the Vlastivedné múzeum v Galante.

The wooden millhouse building features a shingle roof and a large paddle driving wheel with a diameter of 7 meters. Its structure stands on original acacia stilts. Inside, you will find an original interior with photographs as well as an authentic miller's room with a wooden plank bed, a slit window, and a small table. The interior also houses milling tools and sacks in which ground flour and grain were stored.

The mill ground flour for a respectable 67 years, almost 20 hours every day. An interesting fact is that in 1940 a dynamo was installed in it, and thanks to this, it also operated on electric drive. Did you know that it is one of the few preserved watermills in Slovakia with operational mill machinery?

In 1982, it was restored and today serves as a technical monument of folk milling in Southern Slovakia. You can reach it from the bank via a wooden footbridge. Located near it is a popular paddlers' campsite.

After this pleasant excursion, you can stay on the bank, lay out a blanket, pull out a picnic basket full of treats, and enjoy precious moments with your family.
