Ferrata HZS - Martinské hole

Martin

Ferrata HZS – Martinské hole is a real treat for adrenaline-seeking hikers. It is situated in the beautiful setting of the wild canyon of Pivovarský potok in Martinské hole, in the Malá Fatra mountain range. It is accessible to tourists from the district town of Martin, from the Stráne locality. The ferrata, which boasts the title of the oldest in Slovakia, offers two passage variants of varying difficulty. Therefore, it is popularly visited by both beginners and more experienced hikers. If you have already walked this location in the past, certainly do not be discouraged. It is constantly being improved and modernized. Your reward will be truly breathtaking natural scenery.

The via ferrata in Martinské hole is connected to an interesting hiking trail. It starts from the bus stop Martin, Stráne following the red hiking trail mark leading along an asphalt road. After some time of walking, this road merges into a beautiful small forest, whose idyllic atmosphere is enhanced by a babbling stream. Its banks are connected by wooden bridges. Along the way, the natural scenery blends from gorges to open space offering beautiful views of the entire valley.

The entrance to the ferrata itself is marked by a board. Here, you put on your ferrata gear and continue with one of the two passage variants. The category A/B ferrata is intended for beginners who are just getting acquainted with this popular sport. If you count yourself among the more experienced adrenaline hikers, you can confidently choose the B/C version. In the first section of the ferrata, you will pass secured sections that will alternate with an unsecured path. Roughly halfway along your route, you will tackle a real treat, two rope bridges located high above the ground. Right here is the spot where you will enjoy breathtaking views and tell yourself that this hike is truly worth it. Afterwards, the ferrata divides into the B and C variants. All the way to the top, you will climb alongside a long stream that transforms into waterfalls in some places. Most of the route leads along iron rungs alongside a safety cable.

The ferrata is one-way. You can return down on a mountain scooter, which you can rent in Martinské hole, or on foot. The top of the ferrata is even accessible by car. If your strength runs out, you can arrange comfortable transport for the return trip. Tackling the entire route on foot will take you 4–5 hours. Rozprávkový les Nezbudská Lúčka

Nezbudská Lúčka

Perhaps almost all of us grew up on fairy tales. Finally, there is a place where you can see your favorite fairy tale characters live and exactly as you remember them from your childhood. Take your little ones and take a trip to the picturesque village of Nezbudská Lúčka, which lies on the edge of the Malá Fatra mountain range. Awaiting you here is Rozprávkový les, inhabited by the 3 Little Pigs, Maťko and Kubko, the wolf that ate the grandmother, Grandpa Večerníček, and naturally the sleeping beauty, Sleeping Beauty (Šípková Ruženka).

Right at the entrance, you will be greeted by a gate behind which stands a cute caterpillar wearing sneakers and holding a broom in its hand. Rozprávkový les consists of winding paved paths lined with installed statues of fairy tale characters and their little houses. Children's eyes will light up at the sight of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the gingerbread house inhabited by Hansel and Gretel (Janko a Marienka), or the House on Chicken Legs (Domček na stračej nôžke).

During your walk through the forest, you certainly won't miss the angry alarm clock, the egg that went on a wander (Vajce, ktoré išlo na vandrovku), a fairy-tale toadstool, a mouse sleeping in a matchbox, or the stork postman. In addition to static statues, you will also meet those that move, sing, or dance. Among the so-called entertainers are cats singing folk songs, dogs singing hits by Karel Gott, and singing crocodiles and penguins hidden in a dark tunnel.

Among the newest inhabitants of the magical forest is the so-called Koroňák, who looks like a small devilish troll with a pitchfork. Rozprávkový les is 1 km long and is not yet fully completed. At its end, Krtko (Little Mole) and a meadow await you, featuring more great attractions for children. Little kids can play on the children's playground equipped with swings, a slide, a sandbox, and two trampolines.

During the summer season, you will find merry-go-rounds, an inflatable bouncy castle, as well as souvenir stalls and all kinds of treats. You can have a tasty lunch in the local traditional cottage (koliba), which boasts a fantastic summer terrace with original wooden seating. From here, you will be treated to a magnificent view of Hrad Strečno castle.

After lunch, you can stop by the animals, which will bring joy especially to your little ones. Goats, sheep, rabbits, geese, mini pigs, a pony, a llama, and even a peacock roam freely in the enclosure. You will also find a squirrel and parrots here, though these are kept in a cage.
