Lúčanský vodopád is located in the village of the same name, Lúčky, in the Liptov region, in the Ružomberok district. This impressive watercourse is the pride of the village and attracts tourists from far and wide. It is accessible by car, which is why it is frequently visited by families with children.
With its height of 13 meters, Lúčanský vodopád has been declared a national natural monument. It is cascading in nature, and it is fed by the Lúčianka stream, also called Teplianka. Although this stream is not particularly extraordinary, during the snowmelt period or heavy rainfall, it brings so much water that the roar of the waterfall can be heard from afar.
By Lúčanský vodopád, you will find a smaller park with benches for sitting and resting. If you want to view the waterfall from all sides, take the stairs leading along the water, and in addition to the views, you will also discover an educational trail. It is short, but you will learn interesting facts about the surrounding fauna and flora here. If this trip seems too short for you, we recommend visiting the nearby Diviačia obora (Wild Boar Enclosure). In the spring, you can see cute little striped wild boar piglets here.
Not far from Lúčanský vodopád, there are also a few restaurants and local pubs at your disposal, where you can refresh yourself and taste local specialties. Do not forget to try korbáčiky (cheese strings) and spa wafers here. You can also take your children to a small village playground.
The spa village of Lúčky is not only famous for its own waterfall. The popular Kúpele Lúčky spa is also renowned for its healing water. It offers medical treatments, massages, and above all, relaxation in the beautiful surrounding nature near Veľký Choč. In addition, there is also the Aqua-Vital Park Lúčky, which is especially popular with families with children.
The road from the spa towards the mountains connects lower Liptov with Orava. The winding route is loved by cyclists as well as motorcyclists. It will lead you to the village of Vyšný Kubín in Orava. This region is made for a holiday and discovering natural beauties and hidden gems.
