Poľovníkov vodopád

Poľovníkov vodopád

Bobrovec

Less than 6 km above the well-known Liptov village of Bobrovec, you will find a popular spot among local residents, cyclists, and runners. In winter, you can even reach Poľovníkov vodopád on cross-country skis. Although the trails are not mechanically groomed, local enthusiasts keep a beaten track open. This easy walk is suitable for young and old alike, younger or older, and thanks to a new asphalt road, for families with strollers.

The spacious village of Bobrovec is located just a few minutes by car or bus from the town of Liptovský Mikuláš. From Bobrovec, you can comfortably reach Bobrovecká dolina on foot, by bicycle, or by car, which you can leave at the free parking lot in Bobrovecká Vápenica. Others can use the bus service, which will take you to the village of Jalovec, approximately 2 km above Bobrovec, and continue your half-day hike on foot.

From the aforementioned Bobrovecká Vápenica, a renovated asphalt road with a gentle incline leads to the waterfall, which is also known as Poľovnícky vodopád or Bobrovecký vodopád. Approximately halfway along the route, at the edge of the forest, the ascent becomes gentler or almost flat. Initially, majestic peaks of the Západné Tatry rise before you, such as Babky or Sivý vrch. Later along the way, you can enjoy nearby meadows, pastures, and, with good visibility, a view of the Vodná nádrž Liptovská Mara.

After about three quarters of an hour, you will arrive at your destination. The waterfall is located less than 100 m from the road. You do not have to worry about missing this natural beauty. In front of the waterfall stands a hunting cabin that welcomes you to this sought-after attraction with its motto "Hore zdar!". The approach to the waterfall has an uphill character, but your reward will be the Stará voda stream falling from a height of 12 m. A small pool has formed beneath the rocky cliff down which the waterfall flows. Although the icy water may initially deter you, believe that after a walk, especially on hot summer days, a quick dip is a great refreshment. The braver ones can enjoy the power of a mountain shower directly under the waterfall. In winter, the swift flow of water turns into a massive icefall. The snow-covered and frozen surrounding nature holds a unique charm. So do not forget to bring a sled for your walk, which you will especially use on the return trip and the gentle descent back to Bobrovecká Vápenica.

Cyclists can continue along a popular cycling route that will take you all the way to the village of Liptovské Matiašovce. Hikers on foot will return along the same route. Halfway between Bobrovecká Vápenica and the village of Bobrovec stands the traditional Salaš Pastierska. Stop for a moment and, in addition to traditional products such as cheeses, bryndza (sheep milk cheese), or žinčica (boiled sheep whey), enjoy the peaceful nature. Right above Bobrovec, you can stop by a small but popular water reservoir. Originally, the reservoir served to irrigate the surrounding fields. The Bejvoč water reservoir, as the locals nickname it, has been used for swimming for a few decades, although bathing is at your own risk. Rich greenery and the murmur of the mountain Jalovecký potok, which is the source of clean and refreshing water in the reservoir, predestine this place for relaxation and rest.

If natural water does not appeal to you and you would rather enjoy thermal springs, visit the most famous water park, Tatralandia, located less than 10 minutes by car from Bobrovec. A multitude of pools and water attractions guarantee a well-spent day. For adrenaline enthusiasts, we have an interesting tip: try flying in the wind tunnel at Hurricane Factory Tatralandia, located right next to the water park. Families with children can look forward to ZOOKONTAKT, which guarantees that you will not be bored here.

Vysoké Tatry mesto

The majestic Vodopád Skok is located in the Vysoké Tatry mountains in the Mlynická valley. It is frequently visited by tourists and easily accessible even for families with children. You can visit it year-round, but it is nevertheless most beautiful and massive when the ice melts.

Vodopád Skok lies at an altitude of 1,789 meters above sea level and its height is 30 meters. Its water source is Pleso nad Skokom, located above it. The view of the waterfall leaves no one indifferent, and thanks to the surrounding peaks, you will stand before it open-mouthed. This watercourse is indeed a magnificent sight to behold.

To Vodopád Skok, it is literally just a stone's throw away (a hop away). Which is great, especially for seniors and families with children. This easy Tatras hike will take you approximately 1.5 to 2 hours on the way there. And even children from about 4 years old can handle it, with the right motivation, of course.

Start your hike at Štrbské Pleso. Here you will also find a parking lot for your car, or you can take the rack railway train here from the village of Štrba. Here you will be treated to a beautiful view of the western peaks of the Vysoké Tatry: Soliská, Štrbský štít, and Patria. You will pass by ski jumping ramps and then continue along a paved and later stony path through dwarf pine to the waterfall.

Vodopád Skok will charm both young and adult hikers. The older ones can continue to Pleso nad Skokom, to which the trail continues. However, part of the route here goes over rocks, and you need to hold on to chains. Therefore, if you are afraid of heights, stay to admire Vodopád Skok from below. The walls of the Tatras rocks near the waterfall also provide space for rock climbers. In winter, ski touring enthusiasts like to come here instead.

Kmeťov vodopád

Kmeťov vodopád

Vysoké Tatry mesto

Kmeťov vodopád, with its impressive height of 80 m, is the highest waterfall in Slovakia. If you want to visit it, you will find it in a spruce forest on the western side of the lower slopes of Kriváň peak. Its exact location is Kôprová dolina in the western part of Vysoké Tatry. The waters of Nefcerský potok fall from an altitude of 1,245 m above sea level.

The waterfall bears the attributes glacial, tectonic, and selective. Miloš Janoška gave it its name in the 1st Slovak guide to the Tatras from 1911. It was named after the Slovak scholar and priest Andrej Kmeť. The waterfall is formed by two steps, and the water falls in a relatively narrow, wild, and cascading stream.

To find it, you have to go further off the path. It is well hidden in the forest. You will not see it from the road. You will have a nice view of the waterfall from above from a wooden viewing platform, which is actually a bridge over the bed of Nefcerský potok. You can reach it via a path after turning off the blue-marked hiking trail in Kôprová dolina. The cycling route ends as well.

A popular walking and cycling route leads from the Podbanské parking lot along the yellow, green, and subsequently blue hiking trail. It is an easy hike lasting approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, with a length of about 8.5 km. Another route from Podbanské leads along the red hiking trail, later joining the blue one, and is 1.5 km longer compared to the previous one.

Another frequently used route leads from the parking lot at the former Važecká chata at Tri studničky. It is 1.5 kilometers shorter than the one leading from Podbanské; however, it is more challenging, although it is more scenic thanks to passing through the forest. At its beginning and end, there is a steeper hill that needs to be conquered.

Experienced hikers can choose from two interesting yet demanding routes. One leads from Štrbské pleso, through Popradské pleso, Hincové plesá, Vyšné Kôprovské sedlo, and subsequently through Hlinská dolina to Kôprová dolina. The second route leads through Tichá dolina from Podbanské, through Liptovský košiar, Sedlo Závory, and subsequently through Kobylia dolina to Kôprová dolina. These are hikes demanding both in terms of required physical fitness and covered distance, elevation gain, and time.

Whichever route you choose, your reward will be a visit to a waterfall that is not overcrowded with tourists. Since there is no mountain shelter located in its vicinity, we recommend booking an overnight stay on the pages accommodation Podbanské or accommodation Štrbské Pleso, where the starting points of the hike are located. Consider a longer stay as well and visit various other attractions in the surroundings of Vysoké Tatry. There are many of them, and each is more interesting than the last.
