Kúpele Brusno
Kúpele Brusno is among the popular Slovak spas. It lies northeast of the city of Banská Bystrica, in the Slovenské rudohorie mountain range. The Brusnianska valley, in which the spa is located, is also called the valley of Peklo (Hell). Not because of hellfire, but because of the tributary of the Peklo river, which flows into the Brusnianka stream. Fresh air, a peaceful environment, and beautiful surrounding nature are perfect for a spa stay in this location.
Brusnianske kúpele dates its history back to the beginning of the 19th century when the first spa house began to be built. However, the springs of healing mineral water were likely used much earlier by local lumberjacks and charcoal burners. Kúpele Brusno experienced its greatest boom under the ownership of Ľudovíi Rosenauer, who invested considerable money into drilling for a warm spring. Although he did not succeed in drilling a spring, Hungarian officials and merchants flocked here for recreation during his management.
With the collapse of Austria-Hungary, Brusnianske kúpele lost its Hungarian clientele, but it established itself well in the new Czecho-Slovak state. Due to the similar chemical composition of the mineral water, it was nicknamed the "Slovak Karlovy Vary." It was not until the construction of the Liečebný dom Poľana, funded by investors from Kúpele Sliač, that the operation of the spa began in 1985 as we know it today.
Brusnianka mineral water is used for spa treatment. Here we can find seven springs, four of which, Ondrej, Ludvig, Paula, and Ďumbier, are used for drinking cures, and the Ondrej spring is also used for preparing mineral-carbonated baths. All springs have a similar composition, bicarbonate and calcium-magnesium.
You have certainly heard of Brusnianka mineral water. It is bottled right here at Kúpele Brusno and comes from the Ondrej spring. It is also referred to as "kyselka" (acidulous mineral water). This mineral water has healing properties and helps with cardiovascular diseases, stomach problems, digestive tract disorders, as well as musculoskeletal disorders.
Kúpele Brusno also focuses on diseases caused by metabolic and endocrine disorders, as well as the widespread disease, diabetes. Likewise, a doctor may refer you here for the treatment of certain occupational diseases. Treatment procedures include balneotherapy, mineral and pool baths, massages, saunas, and wraps. You can also make use of gas injections or oxygen therapy treatment with oxygen. No less important in the treatment process is group, individual, or fitness exercise.
