Budmerický kaštieľ

Budmerický kaštieľ

Budmerice

Come and enjoy the beauty of Budmerický kaštieľ manor house, which is located in the village of Budmerice and ranks among the landmarks of this village. This is not only thanks to its stunning appearance, but also due to the wonderful 19th-century English park. Every year, it is visited not only by locals, but also by foreign tourists.

This beautiful manor house was built by Count Ján Pálffy together with his wife. The count was a hunting enthusiast, so the manor house originally served mainly for these purposes. The manor house itself draws from several architectural styles. It was inspired mainly by the French Renaissance. Although the exterior resembles older artistic styles, the interior was adapted to the living requirements of the modern era of that time. An interesting feature is that it includes a dumbwaiter, central heating, and numerous staircases.

Locals experienced unique feelings even back then during a stroll through the English park. In its vicinity, Count Pálffy had a chapel built dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. A legend is tied to the manor house, in which the count fell in love with a French comtesse. He wanted to transform his two residences into the style of French châteaux and then marry her. By the time he succeeded, the young lady was reportedly already married.

After the count's death, the manor house turned into a center of social life, where his son Pavol organized various gatherings and hunts. After World War II, the manor house was looted, subsequently passed into the hands of the state, and is currently managed by the Ministry of Culture. During opening hours, you can view its permanent exhibition here. Can you imagine what it would be like to spend a night here? Pezinský zámok

Pezinok

If you choose to visit the renowned winemaking town of Pezinok, we have a great tip for you. Do not miss a visit to Pezinský zámok castle, which is the historical and architectural landmark of the town. Take a guided tour of the premises, explore its exhibitions, or take a peak into the cellars with a rich collection of wines. You can wrap up your visit to the castle in Zámocká reštaurácia restaurant, where you can enjoy excellent food. You can enjoy this romantic place, also known as Šimák Zámok Pezinok, as a couple or as a family with children.

The origins of the castle date back to the 13th century, and it has been home to several influential counts. The Renaissance castle, located near the center in Zámocký park, was originally built as a water castle. Surrounded by two moats, it resisted attacks by the troops of King Ottokar II of Bohemia. Restoration work began on the castle in the 16th century and continued until the castle gained a new Renaissance appearance, along with new residential and farm buildings.

In the 19th century, the castle lost its defensive role, and a magnificent English park with a lake and rare plantings was established nearby. Subsequently, a Slovak winemaking cooperative became the owner. Štefan of the Šimák family was behind the creation of an exclusive winery and exhibitions dedicated to wine, glass, and the Pálffy family. Part of the castle at that time was also a hotel, which you can still find there today.

Zámok Pezinok is easily accessible from the town center. Do not miss this historical monument and explore its premises. Sit in the picturesque courtyard with a fountain, delve into history, listen to an engaging commentary, or take your children to Zámocký park, where you will be charmed by freely roaming peacocks and wild ducks.

If you let yourself be swept away by the castle's atmosphere, we have one more unique experience for you. Vozenie na koči Pezinok and Frizáci z Panhloca will treat you to a ride not only in a traditional carriage, but also in an off-road carriage.
