Ranč u Bobiho

Ranč u Bobiho

Nový Tekov

Perhaps it was the attractive environment on the banks of the Hron River that inspired the owners of Ranč u Bobiho to build this amazing work here. Many seek it out as an oasis of peace and relaxation, a place full of experiences, or a location where nature, animals, and humans coexist in harmony.

You can experience these feelings if you head approximately 15 km northwest of the town of Levice, to the picturesque village of Nový Tekov. Here, throughout the year, you can learn to ride or brush up on your riding skills in the saddle. For less adventurous visitors, a carriage ride will suffice. Experience doesn't matter that much—that is the motto the owners live by and thanks to which they can teach you to ride in a riding course. If you join the Jazdecká akadémia Bobík riding academy after completing it, you can hone your skills and abilities even further. That is when you will be in closer contact with your horse in the indoor riding arena, on the outdoor arena, and later on rides across grassy meadows with obstacles.

Treat your children to the most unique holiday experiences in the form of horseback riding. You can enroll them in a riding school for children, which includes training sessions under the supervision of professional trainers. You can also finish training your own horses here together with a rancher. If you don't have enough space at home for their comfortable life, take advantage of the stabling service at the ranch.

Discovering the beauty and secrets of the equestrian world is truly worth it here. The individual approach of the ranch staff will certainly be appreciated by every single visitor. You can learn everything here in a relatively short time that takes some people long years to master. This is because they have rich experience with horses and their lives.

Standing firmly on the ground, you can also engage in other activities offered by Ranč u Bobiho. An off-road track is built within the complex. The youngest visitors can spend their time playing on the children's playground or in the mini-zoo with farm animals. Adults usually satisfy their appetite in the restaurant directly on site after riding. If riding isn't enough for them, they change into sportswear and make use of the sports fields for beach volleyball, tennis, or minigolf, for example. In the early evening, a game of bowling or using the wellness center services is possible.

Which activities you choose is entirely up to you. If you have had enough of riding and enjoy exploring the surroundings, you can also plan a trip to Energoland, an interactive information center focused mainly on education about energy and electricity production. The fun can continue in the entertainment attraction center in Levice, known not only to locals as Atlantis Levice. Observing the stars dancing in the sky is possible at Tekovská hvezdáreň. Afterwards, just a tour of Levický hrad castle, and you will certainly look back fondly on your day packed with experiences.

We believe that you will fall asleep soundly in accommodation near Ranč u Bobiho and will thus be able to explore all the beauty of the region. A soft bed to wake up in is available not only in cottages Nový Tekov, but you will also find it in rooms in surrounding guesthouses. It all depends solely on you and your preferences as to what type of accommodation you book.

Levický hrad

Levický hrad

Levice

Right in the centre of the town of Levice, you will find a 13th-century stone castle. Despite being in ruins, the monument is still impressive. Today, the castle grounds house the Tekovské múzeum. Come and take a look at the remains of the Gothic palace or the bastion that once served as a summer pavilion. You will learn many interesting facts about the history of the castle itself, which changed hands among some of the most famous owners and even withstood Ottoman troops.

No written records have been preserved regarding the construction of the castle that would confirm the exact year it was completed. However, the castle was built in a place of strategic importance. It was a site protected by a part of the Štiavnické vrchy mountains, and the surrounding area had difficult access due to marshes. The distant views that the castle offered thanks to its location also contributed to its watchtower function. The first owner of the castle was one of the most famous landowners, Matúš Čák Trenčiansky. Later, when the castle became royal property and its position grew stronger, people began to settle in its vicinity, and thus in the 14th century, the new settlement of Nové a Veľké Levice was founded.

In the 16th century, much like a large part of our country, the Levický hrad withstood Ottoman raids. During this period, a Renaissance mansion with massive fortifications was added to the castle. As the fighting by the Ottomans gained strength, at the end of the 17th century, the castle vice-captain decided to surrender the castle to the Ottomans without a fight. In less than a year, imperial troops managed to recapture the castle.

This significant military fortress also bears witness to the figure of the anti-Habsburg estate uprisings. František II. Rákoczi and his kurucs destroyed and burned down the castle before retreating from Levice at the beginning of the 18th century. The moat and the castle well were filled in, causing the castle to lose important features of a military fortress.

After those events, the castle was never restored again, it gradually fell into disrepair, and only ruins now remind us of ancient times. Visit Levický hrad and remember a piece of our history. You can also reminisce about times past while touring one of the exhibitions found in the Tekovské múzeum museum. Its unique collection boasts more than 100,000 exhibits. If you visit Levice, do not miss the Tekovská hvezdáreň observatory either, where you can explore the starry sky or learn interesting facts about space. A pleasant place to spend your leisure time taking a walk or a bike trip can be found around the Chránený areál Levické rybníky protected area. During hot days, you will appreciate a visit to the Termálne kúpalisko Margita – Ilona thermal swimming pool, where you will experience a true summer atmosphere.

Visit the Tekov region, historic Levice and discover the attractions of the surrounding area. If you are looking for accommodation near Levický hrad, we have a few tips for you. Book one of the offered family guesthouses or a cosy cottage in the surroundings and set out for new experiences.

The manor house fell into disrepair until 1991, when it underwent extensive reconstruction.

Nový rybník Biela Taňa - Trávnica II

Nový rybník Biela Taňa - Trávnica II

Trávnica

Water is one of the most important elements in landscape formation. In Slovakia, we have many natural as well as artificial bodies of water. Reservoirs created by human effort include Nový rybník Trávnica near Podhájska, also called Rybník Biela Taňa.

This structure was created back in 1965 on the Liska watercourse for the purpose of fish farming and at the same time as a water reservoir for irrigating surrounding fields. The water level in the pond is not high, reaching approximately 2 to 2.5 meters. In combination with a muddy bottom and rays of sunlight that warm the water surface in summer, this creates excellent conditions for fish breeding. The size of the pond is a respectable 19.2 hectares. Currently, the pond is managed by Slovenský rybársky zväz (Slovak Fishing Association) and is used for recreational and sports fishing.

If you head here with your children or a group of seniors, you can look forward to a pleasant walk. Almost completely flat terrain can be managed by virtually all visitors. The bank of the pond is lined with several poplars and willows, which complete the romantic character of the environment. A relatively large acacia grove stretches near the pond. Visitors might also be interested in the extensive irrigation system, which consists of a pumping station located below the pond dam and a network of irrigation canals and pipes that supplied water to the surrounding fields covering an area of more than 100 hectares. However, this system is now outdated and currently unused.

An educational trail called Náučný chodník Fauna a flóra Trávnice will lead you to the pond. The educational trail starts in the center of the village of Trávnica right behind the small bridge over the stream. Besides a walking excursion, you can also conquer it on your two-wheeled steeds, as the route can also be used as a cycling path. The information boards of the educational trail will give you answers to questions such as how long a discarded car tire or an orange peel decomposes in nature. Another board informs about the local fauna, revealing that the rare stilt stilt (Šišila bocianovitá) lives here. This migratory bird inhabits only the southern parts of Slovakia and flies to Africa for the winter, to locations south of the Sahara Desert. The information boards are full of beautiful photos, mainly of birds and plants, by the photographer Martin Šabík. Your little ones will surely be intrigued by the interactive boards shaped like rotating cylinders. They will certainly capture their attention for a few minutes, which you can use to rest and admire the beauties of the surrounding nature.

In the village of Trávnica, you do not have to just walk along this pond. You can easily go to Starý rybník Horné Háje – Trávnica I as well. If you feel like doing activities beneficial for your body, play Adventure minigolf in Podhájska. After renting a bike or bringing your own, you can lead your cycling trips along one of the 7 loops of the educational trail Náučný chodník Cyklopotulky medzi Žitavou a Hronom. Ending your active day relaxing in the pools or in the wellness center of Termálne kúpalisko Podhájska is an excellent idea.

We realize that if you want to explore this region more thoroughly without being stressed, it is advisable to book accommodation near Nový rybník Biela Taňa - Trávnica II. You can choose from a wide range of accommodation facilities presented on the portal MegaUbytovanie.sk. It is entirely up to you whether a photo of apartments in Trávnica catches your eye, or whether you choose cottages in Trávnica for your stay. Termálne kúpalisko Podhájska

Podhájska

Do you long for the sea, but it seems too far away? Then do not hesitate to visit the thermal park in Podhájska. This Slovak unique gem has almost the exact same water composition as the Dead Sea. Therefore, you can treat yourself to a unique holiday utilizing all the positive effects of salty seawater. What is more, in a pleasant Southern Slovak environment.

The history of the thermal spring begins in 1973. A borehole nearly 2 kilometres deep aimed to find water usable for heating greenhouses. However, due to the spring's exceptional properties and its convenient location, it began to be used for recreational purposes. Pools, sanitary facilities, and changing rooms sprang up here very quickly. Later, a restaurant and a hotel were added as well. In the early 1990s, the facility underwent reconstruction. Since that period, the swimming pool area has been constantly expanding and refining its services and offerings.

The miraculous water in Podhájska reaches a temperature of almost 80 °C at the spring. For use, it is naturally diluted to a temperature of around 30 degrees. You can visit the thermal swimming pool complex at any time of year, with the exception of April. Bathing in an outdoor hot pool in the cold winter is certainly an unusual experience. In addition to perfect relaxation, the thermal salt water has a beneficial effect on various ailments. These mainly include musculoskeletal problems. Very good effects have also been recorded with skin conditions and respiratory tract diseases.

The swimming pool complex currently consists of several facilities. The recently opened wellness center Aquamarin features an outdoor and indoor pool world, a Turkish bath, and a botanical garden. The main indoor pool is equipped with numerous water attractions. Inside you will also find whirlpool pools and a children's pool. Part of the wellness center is the so-called Vital World. Its offer includes, for example, saunas, a water hell, or an icefall. The relaxation and reconditioning complex offers many complementary services. Here too, you will find saunas, a solarium, a fitness center, and even a hairdresser and cosmetics. You can also try hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, or massages. As for the pools themselves, the selection is very wide. There are two children's pools, two recreational pools, a sitting pool, pools with attractions and a water slide, a pool for swimmers, and a pool for non-swimmers.

If you get tired of the water, you can spend your time doing other activities. A playground with a sandbox awaits children. Adults can play soccer or volleyball on the sand court, or make use of the aforementioned massages, saunas, and fitness center. If you are lucky, the annual Slávnosti ľudových remesiel (Crafts Fair) might take place right at the time of your stay. Right above the village of Podhájska lie the ruins of an old monastery with a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. The local village pond can also be the destination of a pleasant walk. The wider surroundings are also full of various interesting places. It is certainly worth seeing the arboretum near Tesárske Mlyňany or the stud farm in Nový Tekov. Complementing the water relaxation can be the salt cave in Starý Tekov. Interesting historical towns in this region are Nové Zámky, Nitra, and Levice.

Accommodation options in Podhájska are almost endless. You can stay in apartments and guesthouses, either directly within the pool area or in the village. A campsite and a chalet settlement with bungalows operate here as well. In the village, there is also a large number of private accommodation offers. The sea is the sea, but it is not accessible to everyone. And right for people who would like to make use of its healing effects, there is Termálne kúpalisko Podhájska. Here you can relax completely, go wild, and enjoy the summer, sun, water, and the healing power of sea minerals to your heart's content.

Skalné obydlia Brhlovce

Skalné obydlia Brhlovce

Brhlovce

Skalné obydlia Brhlovce are an exposed branch of the Tekovské múzeum v Leviciach. They are located in the village of the same name, Brhlovce, in the Nitriansky kraj, which is a protected reserve of folk architecture. It is a unique Slovak example of a distinctive form of folk architecture, which allegedly originally served as protection against the looting raids of the Turks, and later as homes for the poor.

The exhibition, which was opened to the public in 1992, consists of homestead number 142 in the "Šurda" lane. Part of the homestead where the exhibition is located includes a brick house from the end of the 19th century, a brick house dated 1932 on the facade, and two-story spaces carved into the rock. The ground floor consists of a summer kitchen, a pantry, and a display of period stonemason products and tools. The upper floor consists of a small chamber and a viewing terrace. The impression is completed by period furniture with which the interior is furnished.

The very carving of the dwellings into the tuff is considered unique because they possess a special property. That is, they stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Utilizing this thermal advantage during the construction of the dwellings demonstrates the cleverness, resourcefulness, and skill of the settlers of that time and their overall way of life.

Thanks to the exhibition of rock dwellings, Tekovské múzeum v Leviciach became the first Slovak institution in 1994 to receive the prestigious Europa Nostra international award. A surprising fact is that some of the rock dwellings are still inhabited or used as wine cellars or utility spaces to this day.

If you want to verify this for yourself, there is only one guaranteed way. Come and see it with your own eyes. Since the entire region also offers many other interesting attractions, the best thing to do is to plan a multi-day trip. You can easily book accommodation from which all trip options will be closest on the pages accommodation Nitriansky kraj and accommodation Levice.

Benediktínsky kláštor

Benediktínsky kláštor

Hronský Beňadik

The Benediktínsky kláštor monastery represents a magnificent complex of fortified sacral buildings. It is situated in the village of Hronský Beňadik, in the Žarnovica district. The monastery site extends in the valley of the Hron river, on the southern foothills of Pohronský Inovec. Due to its uniqueness, the monastery has been declared a national cultural monument and one of the seven wonders of the Banskobystrický region. Visitors are awed not only by its monumentality, but also by the combination of sacral and defensive structures and the blending of various architectural styles. The premises of the historical building offer the opportunity to visit a rare basilica, a chapel, a reconstructed part of the granary with a historical exhibition, and the monastery tea room.

The Benediktínske opátstvo abbey was solemnly consecrated as early as 1075. The construction of today's building complex was carried out in the mid-14th century. A Gothic church with a triple sanctuary and the monastic part were built. Decades later, a three-aisled nave, two towers, and a Late Gothic entrance portal were added. At that time, the monastery was complemented by the entire southern wing. The year 1483 was significant when the monastery received a rare relic of the blood of Christ from King Matej I. It is said to be a piece of the cloth with which Veronica wiped Jesus' face during the Way of the Cross. In 1508, the so-called abbatial wing was added to the complex, and a monastic garden was built in the middle of the monastery. In subsequent years, the Kaplnka sv. Krvi chapel was completed.

The early 16th century was closely intertwined with Ottoman invasions. Subsequent architectural modifications of the monastery therefore meant its gradual fortification. Ultimately, both the monastery and the church were rebuilt into a Renaissance fortress. Massive walls and cannon bastions suddenly became part of the complex. In the following years, the monastery building was part of a system of fortresses providing protection to central Slovakia. The Turkish raids significantly damaged the rare architecture. As part of the reconstruction, a large granary was built on the site of the collapsed wing.

Currently, the central part of the building system is formed by the so-called paradise courtyard. It is surrounded by monastic buildings and the temple church, which was elevated to the minor basilica of Bazilika minor sv. Benedikta by Pope František in 2019. It represents a magnificent three-aisled structure with a Gothic entrance portal. The facade with a pair of towers dominates the church. On its southern side, the original Late Gothic Kaplnka sv. Krvi chapel from 1489 is still located today. The furnishings of the church are relatively modest today. Three sculptures of the main altar, the relic of the blood of Christ, a Baroque baptismal font, and the crypt of the Koháry family have been preserved from the original equipment. A very rare monument is the organ from 1714.

Inside the monastic buildings, the huge interior of the granary is accessible to visitors. Just one floor of the four-story space has an amazing area of 800 m2. On the ground floor, an exhibition introducing the history of the St. Benedict abbey to the public is situated. A unique space for relaxation and refreshment is the rare monastery tea room. Its tasteful premises offer not only a pleasant sit-down over a cup of herbal tea, but also the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of the ancient monastery. You can take a tour of the complex individually or with a guide for a symbolic fee.

You can make your journey into the history of this architectural gem of Pohronie more pleasant by a trip to the nearby Starohutský vodopád waterfall or by visiting the interesting interactive information center Energoland located in Kalná nad Hronom. We also recommend relaxation by the nearby Tajch water reservoir and, for horse lovers, a visit to the National Stud Farm in Topoľčianky. And when you find that one day in this region is simply not enough, look for accommodation in the vicinity of the Benediktínske kláštor monastery on our portal. Accommodation in Hronský Beňadik and surrounding areas will certainly not disappoint you with its offer. Alternatively, you can also choose nearby accommodation in Žarnovica. Even in this case, you will not be far from local attractions.

Arborétum Mlyňany SAV

Arborétum Mlyňany SAV

Vieska nad Žitavou

A European unique, Arborétum Mlyňany SAV, is situated between the villages of Vieska nad Žitavou and Tesárske Mlyňany in the district of Zlaté Moravce. The protected area of the botanical garden stands out with its rich collection of trees and shrubs. Its collections, which contain more than 2,300 species of woody plants from the Mediterranean, America, Africa, and Asia, place it in the position of the most significant dendrological facility in Slovakia. The unique green area, dominated by a picturesque manor house, is open to the public year-round.

The arboretum was founded in 1892 by the Hungarian nobleman Štefan Ambrózy-Migazzi. His main goal was to concentrate as many exotic trees and shrubs as possible in the botanical garden and to demonstrate their viability in our climatic conditions. In an oak-hornbeam grove, he gradually planted woody species imported from Germany, France, or England. The beginnings of the planting were linked to the construction of a Neoclassical manor house with a tower, which was completed in 1894. By 1925, it was possible to plant more than 300 species of evergreen plants in the arboretum. After World War II, the area came under state administration and was later taken over by the Slovak Academy of Sciences, which manages it to this day.

The arboretum currently covers an area of 67 ha, and its plant collection is divided according to a geographical principle into 5 parts with constructed educational trails. The central part consists of the oldest Ambrózyho park with a beautiful manor house and a predominance of monumental oak trees and original hornbeam stands. In the arboretum, you can also walk among the trees and shrubs of Asia, North America, Korea, and of course, there is also an area dedicated to Slovak dendroflora. The presentation of woody species in each part of the arboretum is combined with the typical architecture of the respective regions, complemented by small ponds and lakes.

In addition to being an important scientific workplace dedicated to research, the arboretum opens its park with a unique collection of trees and shrubs to the general public. You can freely stroll through the arboretum, with diverse species of trees, shrubs, and flowers from various corners of the world providing a backdrop. The park's information system will introduce you to the dendroflora of individual areas and draw your attention to points of interest. Among the most beautiful sectors is undoubtedly the East Asian section. The most visited period is related to the blooming of rhododendrons, which takes place at the end of April and the beginning of May. The green park also includes an ornamental plant nursery, from which you will certainly take home a rare piece for your garden.

Allow us to invite you for a walk through the charming world of global flora. You can combine a trip to this unique arboretum of European significance with recreation at the Slepčany water reservoir or with an excursion to Energoland Mochovce, where they will guide you through the entire evolution of energy from the Big Bang to the near future. If the highlights of this region have caught your interest, book accommodation near Arborétum Mlyňany SAV today and get ready for a stay full of unique experiences. We recommend choosing from our range of accommodation in Zlaté Moravce, from where you will have all the sights of the region in the palm of your hand.

You can also indulge in a rest at the wellness center thanks to the indoor relaxation pool or hot tub baths. They offer various crystalline, aromatic, and special salts added to the baths, ensuring an enhanced relaxing and restful experience. In the gym premises, you can fully stretch your muscles. In addition to yoga practice, Thai massages are also available here. In the case of high interest, relaxation days are also held here under the guidance of a professional instructor.

Is bathing not enough for you? After relaxing in the thermal water, you can also visit the shores of the Vodná nádrž Zbrojníky reservoir. Here you can pitch a tent in the summer and watch the stars shining in the night sky. Another unusual experience includes a tour of Skalné obydlia Brhlovce. It is an extended exhibition of the Tekovské múzeum v Leviciach museum, showcasing a unique example of a distinctive form of folk architecture. You can admire the power of nature if you decide to explore Dudinské travertíny. To end the day, perhaps just a visit to Jurský park with the children, and then it would be time to head home.

In case you are not from this region and feel like exploring it, we can recommend accommodation near the Termálne kúpalisko Santovka Wellness.
